Chapter 416 - DSMW [416]

"—Fusion Summon, Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste!"

[Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste] Level 10│WIND│Dragon│3200 ATK

[Dragon Synchro Monster + Warrior Monster]

Through the ultimate Fusion that broke the boundaries between the three Summoning methods, the Dragon Knight shouldering a wave-lance soared through the wind, born from the intertwined radiance of Synchro and Xyz.

"As expected—Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste!"

Kevin knew this card far too well. It was the Fusion Miles created in their Duel, the bond formed from uniting three Summoning methods to carve out a victorious future.

"Ragnarok can't break through Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste! Miles will return that world-ending mythic strike right back at him!"

Nid's Rune Eyes locked onto the monster in the sky. "To think you actually fused Synchro and Xyz at the moment Ragnarok descends…"

This turn's End Phase had become far too long and intense.

From the Three Polar Gods reviving, to the sounding of Gjallarhorn, to the over-ten-thousand-point burn of Ragnarok, and finally Miles activating Necro Fusion to bring forth Draco-Equiste, the ultimate union of Xyz and Synchro.

This overly drawn-out Ragnarok End Phase continued to crash and collide.

"With Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste's effect, I'll rebound all the destruction of Ragnarok back at you!"

"Nani!?" Nid jolted. "You said… rebound all of Ragnarok's destruction—back at me?"

Miles thrust an arm toward the sky, pointing at Draco-Equiste, whose wave-lance pierced the heavens.

"Break through Ragnarok—Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste!"

The Dragon Knight shot toward the center of the blaring Gjallarhorn, swirling its lance in a massive sweep. Before the stunned gazes of everyone present, he wildly churned the apocalyptic energies of Ragnarok.

It was as if all mythical force capable of erasing the world had been gathered at the point of that lance.

"This is Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste's effect!"

[As long as this card is in face-up Attack Position on the field, any effect damage you would take from the opponent's card effects is taken by the opponent instead.]

With the power to reflect all effect damage the opponent would inflict, Miles gathered the strength of all three Summoning methods into the ultimate Fusion that overturns Ragnarok.

"Ragnarok's total of 10800 damage—Draco-Equiste will return it all to you!"

Absorbing every last bit of the mythical destructive force, even the roaring blast of the final Gjallarhorn halted before the wave-lance.

"This strike can shatter myths themselves!"

Aiming its lance straight at the speeding Nid, Draco-Equiste returned the entirety of Ragnarok's final force.

"—God-Slaying Lance: Wave Burst!!"

The blast split the track, the sky, and the mythic world itself as it raged straight toward Nid.

Even with his Life Points still full at 4000, if he took a direct hit of over ten thousand damage, defeat was unavoidable.

Takehiko Izumi seized his microphone, shouting with excitement: "Ragnarok's spearhead has turned back toward Nid himself! Does this mean—can the final Fusion really reverse everything for Fusion Academy!?"

Even though such a reversal would mean Synchron Academy's defeat, as a professional commentator, the more critical the moment, the less Takehiko could lean to one side.

He needed to lead the audience in witnessing the outcome brought by the three academies' fierce struggle—fairly and impartially.

Even with a blinding radiance swallowing the field, Takehiko did not look away for a single moment.

Regardless of victory or loss, he had to be the first to report the result.

"That is…!"

And then Takehiko saw it… A rainbow-colored light of life wrapped around Nid's body.

"This can't be… how could this happen!? Nid is activating it from his hand! A Trap Card from the hand—Rainbow Life!"

Rainbow light intertwined with the force of Ragnarok, spreading outward as Nid revealed and activated the Trap from his hand.

"Activating a Trap from your hand? You sneaky guy!"

Miles immediately understood the only possibility—at the start of this turn, when Nid used Speed Spell - Angel Baton to dig for a key card.

It looked like he was simply cycling cards, but the one he discarded was none other than Makyura the Destructor, silently sending it to the Graveyard.

"During the turn, Makyura the Destructor is sent to the Graveyard, Trap Cards can be activated from the hand!"

And the Trap Card Rainbow Life was the very card Nid drew when he removed seven Speed Counters earlier.

Even though it was a Trap Card, he did not Set it—he held Rainbow Life in his hand.

If he had Set Rainbow Life, he couldn't have activated it this turn through Makyura's effect.

He had to choose: hold Rainbow Life in hand to counter a possible Ragnarok reversal from Miles… or Set it and gamble that Miles wouldn't be able to retaliate.

In the end, relying on the instincts forged through countless Duels, Nid chose the former.

Just as Miles believed Nid would make Ragnarok descend no matter what—even if the Three Polar Gods were bounced—Nid, in his own way, recognized Miles as the strongest opponent he had ever faced.

"I won't underestimate you…not even for a moment. I'll treat this as the most important Duel of my life!"

As if fulfilling the vow he made before the Duel began, the force of Ragnarok that had been reflected back transformed into raging rainbow vitality, flowing into Nid.

"I discard the Trap Card Divine Evolution I retrieved this turn as cost, and with Rainbow Life—absorb all of Ragnarok's damage, 10800 points!"

Rainbow Life's effect turned all the damage he would take this turn into Life Point recovery.

Within the annihilating glare of the lance, Nid—who had no monsters left—saw his Life Points skyrocket in an instant.

[Nid Hogg, LP: 4000 → 14800]

Even with his Life Points reaching a final total of 14800, and even though he currently had not a single monster left on his field, a number that high was not something that could be taken down easily.

Especially when Miles's only card in hand at the moment was a single Mokey Mokey.

"I can win!" Seeing his Life Points after completely absorbing Ragnarok's damage, Nid then looked at the last card in his hand.

Drawn by the revival effect of Odin, Father of the Aesir—the last card drawn by the omniscient, all-powerful god-king of Norse myth—his method of counterattacking after Ragnarok had been stopped was already prepared.

The Spell Card Dimension Fusion, a card that could Special Summon as many banished monsters as possible for both players.

As long as he had this card, Nid could Special Summon all three Polar Gods from the Banished Zone next turn.

With both sides having exhausted nearly all resources, the decisive return of the Three Polar Gods would directly determine the battle's final outcome.

"It's your turn, Aisha Carlos!"

This End Phase had been so excessively long that it felt as though the entire audience had lived through several full turns of nonstop collision. Now, it finally came to a true close.

At this moment, Miles had Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste with 3200 Attack on his field, one set card, and a single Mokey Mokey in his hand.

"My turn—draw!"

With the riders switching again, the too-intense divine showdown, after the descent of Ragnarok, finally approached its end as Miles drew this card.

"—I activate Speed Spell - Angel Baton!"

A draw-two-discard-one in a moment of dire need—if Miles wanted to claim final victory, he had to draw something with more combat power.

So that Mokey Mokey in his hand could only be sent to the Graveyard through Angel Baton's filtering effect.

"Draw!"

Nonetheless, fate refused to cooperate. The moment Miles tried to discard Mokey Mokey, the Mokey Mokey came right back.

The first card from Angel Baton was Mokey Mokey Adrift.

"Seriously… how did you get lost at such a crucial moment?"

Miles didn't even know what to say as he stared at that clueless, tofu-block-looking little creature.

However, when the second card was drawn, Miles's mood flipped 180 degrees.

"I activate the effect of Mokey Mokey Adrift in my hand."

This was probably the first time Miles had ever used Mokey Mokey Adrift's second effect.

[Discard this card from your hand; add 1 'Mokey Mokey' card from your Deck to your hand, except 'Mokey Mokey Adrift'.]

"I discard Mokey Mokey Adrift and add the final Mokey Mokey from my Deck to my hand!"

The universal Mokey Mokey search coming from Mokey Mokey Adrift.

However, what exactly could a "Mokey Mokey card" fetch?

At this point, everyone was already aware that Miles had only a single Mokey Mokey left in his hand during this endgame turn.

Yet Miles didn't hide anything; he wanted everyone to know. Then he threw out his second card.

The Aisha-style battle method!

Aisha Carlos's other signature card.

"—I activate the Spell Card Exchange!"

[Both players reveal their hands, then each selects 1 card from the other's hand and adds it to their own hand.]

Reveal hands—though did Miles even need to reveal his? Everyone already knew he only had Mokey Mokey.

So everyone focused instead on what Miles could possibly gain by trading away a Mokey Mokey.

And… wow. It was the banned card Dimension Fusion!

At this moment, disbelief and utter frustration overlapped on Nid's face, twisting his expression.

His last hope of counterattack—the trump card that would Special Summon the Three Polar Gods from the Banished Zone—had been traded away by a mere Mokey Mokey.

Seeing Dimension Fusion in his hand turn into a (-_-?) tofu-block after the Exchange, Nid's mouth twitched uncontrollably.

Meanwhile, the Dimension Fusion Miles exchanged for was, in Nid's eyes, a card Miles would absolutely never activate.

After all, Dimension Fusion Special Summons monsters for "both" players.

How could Miles possibly activate Dimension Fusion knowing the Three Polar Gods were sitting in the Banished Zone?

That left only the unknown set card as Miles's one usable option.

"Just stealing one card isn't nearly enough." Miles slowly flipped the set card open. "I activate the Trap Card Graverobber! I copy the effect of 1 Spell or Trap in your Graveyard!"

He wasn't even bothering to hide it anymore—he was just blatantly robbing him now.

The grinning grave-robbing imp sneaked into Nid's Graveyard and flipped up the Spell Card Pot of Greed.

"I copy your Pot of Greed and draw two more cards! Then I'll wager seven more Speed Counters—and keep drawing!"

A triple draw. In a battlefield where everyone thought both duelists had reached absolute exhaustion, Miles's hand was reborn from nothing.

If you have enough bullets, even tens of thousands of Life Points can be shredded right through!

With three new cards in hand, Miles scanned the card faces.

In that instant, Miles seemed to glimpse a power surpassing even the Three Polar Gods—a power of the future!

"That's right… there's still this way to fight. A brand-new power—time to use it!"

Racing at full speed, Miles slammed a card onto the Turbo Duel track.

"—I activate the Spell Card Tri-Wight!"

[Target 3 Level 2 or lower Normal Monsters in your Graveyard; Special Summon them.]

"I Special Summon the two Mokey Mokey in my Graveyard, along with one Mokey Mokey Adrift!"

Two Mokey Mokey: one had been Tributed by A Major Upset, and the other discarded by Angel Baton.

And while Mokey Mokey Adrift is technically an Effect Monster, its own effect allows it to be treated as a Normal Monster.

Three cubes of tofu—those Mokey Mokey who had flown through this Duel from beginning to end—fluttered their tiny wings and returned to the track.

Takehiko Izumi: "Another Mokey Mokey Special Summon? What could Aisha Carlos be planning this time!?"

Through this single Turbo Duel, the people of Axet no longer dared underestimate these little tofu creatures stained with the blood of countless gods.

Yet, if the Mokey Mokey Summon made the audience curious… Then the next card Miles activated shocked everyone so much they could not comprehend why he would do such a thing.

"—I activate the Spell Card Dimension Fusion!"

[Dimension Fusion (Spell): Pay 2000 Life Points; both players Special Summon as many of their banished monsters as possible.]

[Aisha, LP: 2700 → 700]

Everyone had thought that once traded away, Dimension Fusion would never be activated.

Yet Miles activated it immediately on the very same turn.

This move, which slapped the expectations of the entire crowd, also left Nid unable to believe that "good fortune" could arrive so suddenly.

Miles smiled mysteriously. "Nid Hogg, I was worried your Life Points weren't high enough… so I paid the cost for you!"

"Aisha Carlos, what are you scheming!?"

"No scheming. I simply think that a final battle without the Three Polar Gods on the field wouldn't be satisfying for either of us."

"If that's the case… then as you wish!"

Even though Nid didn't understand Miles's intentions, regaining an opportunity he thought lost—there was no reason for Nid to abandon the chance to summon the Three Polar Gods again.

"Gateways of the Astral Realm, open! From the Banished Zone—return! The Astral Three Polar Gods!"

[Odin, DEF: 3500]

[Thor, DEF: 2800]

[Loki, DEF: 3000]

Even with more than ten thousand Life Points, Nid remained cautious, Summoning all three gods in Defense Position.

After all, while the defense of the two Aesir Lords did not match Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste's Attack, the Three Polar Gods were least afraid of battle destruction.

Of course, the banished zone held more than just the Three Polar Gods—monsters banished by the Synchro Revival effects could also return.

[Nordic Beast Gullinbursti, DEF: 100]

[Nordic Beast Tanngrisnir, DEF: 800]

The golden boar and the great goat—two Nordic divine beasts—also returned to the field in Defense Position.

Compared to Nid's field, which now recreated Norse mythology in one magnificent wave of summons—

Miles's one remaining Monster Zone made his own Special Summon look utterly barren.

"Return from the Banished Zone—Clear Kuriboh!"

"Kuri-kuri~"

The round, fluffy Kuriboh floated back to Miles's side.

Against Nid's three gods, Miles's field consisted only of Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste, three cubes of tofu, and a single Kuriboh.

Yet despite the sheer disparity, no one felt anything was out of place.

A white-haired girl surrounded by four Level 1 "weaklings"—it simply felt like the battle scene belonging to Aisha Carlos.

And time and again, the girl had proven: Level 1 "weaklings" were in no way inferior to gods.

"Four Level 1 monsters—here we go!"

Miles swept his arm through the air—the twin overlay networks erupted in a brilliant Xyz glow.

"I overlay Mokey Mokey and Mokey Mokey to Xyz Summon Rank 1 Slacker Magician! And I overlay Mokey Mokey Adrift with Clear Kuriboh to Xyz Summon Rank 1 Sylvan Princessprite!"

With consecutive eruptions of Xyz light, the two adorable, girl-like monsters floated on either side of Miles.

"This formation…!" Krista's Duelist instinct surged.

Miles continued: "I activate Sylvan Princessprite's effect!"

[Detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; excavate the top card of your Deck. If it is a Spell/Trap Card, add it to your hand. Otherwise, send it to the Graveyard.]

"My final excavation—this card will connect us to the future!"

A radiant draw carved a gold arc through the sky—shining even brighter than the Three Polar Gods.

If it were a Spell or Trap Card, he could add it straight to his hand.

Guided by the light of Xyz—the revealed card was the Quick-Play Spell Future Drive!

"This is the final battle, Aisha! Now's not the time to worry about resources!"

"Yes, Mr. Miles!"

"I overlay both Rank 1 Xyz Monsters! I construct an overlay network that leads to the future!"

Xyz upon Xyz—dense, intricate, grand, and vast enough to cover the entire sky—the colossal overlay network erupted into existence.

"Zero number, released here! Charge toward the boundless future! This is the world we carve open! Ascend! Cross time and space, and descend—Number F0: Utopic Future!"
