Chapter 489 - Loyalty

After he woke up, Lyrielle and Angela—who were in the next room because they wanted to give Yumeha space to check on Enrico—moved as soon as they heard his voice. Both used healing magic while bandaging the wounds that had suddenly reopened.

"What happened to you? Why did you wake up in this state?"

"You could say it's a technique I created"

Elaris spoke with him while also analyzing his expression. Unlike during the fight, this really seemed like Enrico speaking. In the battle against Sairao there had still been a difference, but now the way he spoke and acted was natural. After a few questions, she discovered that he had reached a state of limit breaking.

"Limit breaking? Master, that's dangerous"

"No, don't worry. I just reached it suddenly when my body was at its limit. I discovered it in a dungeon, but I don't use it much"

[You don't use it much because it's impossible to use it constantly. If you could, you'd be dead]

Enrico scratched his cheek with his finger upon hearing the system speak. He revealed this because, besides trusting them, he decided to tell a small lie. The limit break he mentioned was different from the one he actually used. The one he described was something that always happens to those who manage to grow stronger—a natural evolution when facing strong opponents, where growth becomes necessary.

[You're good at telling half-truths]

'That's one of my best talents'

After finishing being healed, he was questioned about other changes, like during the fight against Sairao. He simply said he was tense because that evil god was responsible for a disaster that happened to him.

"So he did something to you, Master… I should have waited so I could torture him"

"I wanted to do that, but I couldn't, so I had to kill him quickly"

Elaris had sat beside Enrico on the bed and observed the interaction between the two. If he said that, then it was because a disaster had happened in the future. Including her, she needed to confirm if her assumptions about him were correct—but that would be later, because now she had to take Yumeha's final test.

"Yumeha, didn't you say I have to take a test? I'll call Grakka to join"

"That orc wants to try too? I guess I'll have to go harder then"

Hearing the exchange between the two, Enrico became slightly suspicious. What kind of test were they talking about? Because if it was what he was thinking, he would have to rethink his plan of training all day today.

'If it's what I'm thinking, I'll have to spend the whole day with them'

[You just woke up and you're already thinking about training… for once, I hope they join your harem, at least then you'll get some rest]

"So, what kind of test are you talking about?"

Not wanting to waste time, he simply decided to ask directly. Before leaving to follow Yumeha, Elaris smiled at him, her cheeks slightly flushed.

"Of course, it's to become your wife"

Yumeha raised her hand for Elaris to follow her right away while gesturing for Enrico to stay calm—though he didn't seem surprised. He simply looked at the two without expression until he remembered they had mentioned Grakka.

"Wait, Grakka too?"

"We've been needing help lately, Master, so an orc could be useful"

"Seriously, what are you talking about, Lady Yumeha?"

"You're quite an innocent queen. You'll understand when it's your turn"

The two left while talking, and Angela was already massaging his back, which made him immediately forget the conversation and lie down naturally on the bed. He was shirtless, so the mark of the fire cancer on his back was visible—especially since he was no longer concerned about keeping it a secret.

"I promise I'll help with this, Lord Enrico"

Hearing Lyrielle's voice, he saw her eyes examining that mark. Apparently, she already knew what it was—something possible, since the dark elf had such a natural sense of mana and affinity that she could immediately identify effects of magic related to her five elements.

"So it will be necessary to find a god, it seems… or I'll have to reach the eighth circle to start healing"

"You're quick to figure it out"

"I think I can help find that god for you"

Enrico, Angela, and Velka were all surprised by her words. From what she said, besides identifying the effects, she could locate unique magic related to her five elements. If she used that, she could track places where that god might have gone. Of course, she would need help—so Angela asked Velka to take Lyrielle to where Virelle was, so they could discuss this ability more carefully and plan their next steps.

"Lord Enrico, from now on I will be your sword, so please trust me from this moment on"

Before Velka stood up to take Lyrielle, the dark elf dropped to one knee, her sword planted into the ground right beside the bed where Enrico lay. At that moment, she made a vow to follow him for the rest of her life.

"But… the dark elves"

"I will still be their guardian and will always fight to help them. I'm simply offering my loyalty to the man who will undoubtedly help us"

"Lyrielle… very well. Just as you are swearing to follow me, I promise that I will never abandon you all"

Enrico might have hesitated for only a second about whether he should accept, but in his mind, it was a perfect opportunity to have more people by his side. Of course, they already were, but now he could provide training with greater trust from the dark elves if Lyrielle followed him. There was no reason for him to reject that loyalty.

"Besides, I can't refuse if she looks at me with such determination"

Lyrielle's eyes shone with intense determination—one of the strongest he had ever seen in his life. Having someone like her as his sword was something he undoubtedly had to accept.
