Chapter 23 - Blood and Paper

The sun barely up when Dimitri swept into the garden marble hall of Moscow's civil registry office. His black hair was slicked back, his red eyes burning with purpose. He held Matev on one hip. Lev close at his side. The clerks at the desk stammered, never having seen Moscow's most feared club owner storm in like this.

''I want it done today,'' Dimitri ordered coldly, slamming paper onto the counter. ''My son's registration. Official. Legal.''

Lev clutched his bag, his heart hammering. This was it ---- Dimitri wasn't just saying words anymore. He was making Matev his son in the eyes of the law. Their lives would never be the same.

A hush fell over the office as people recognized Dimitri Romanov. Whispers rippled: That's the Romanov Alpha, That's his Omega, That's their son.

Suddenly, the doors burst open...... thuuuuud................Aleksei strode in, flanked by two large bodyguards. His eyes locked on Dimitri, gleaming with malice.

''So, it's true,'' Aleksei sneered. ''You're chaining yourself to an Omega and his bastard pup?''

Dimitri stepped forward, voice a quiet growl. ''Careful, Aleksei. That's my son you're talking about.''

The tension cracked like lightning. Lev stepped back, clutching Matev. Fear swirled in his chest as the two alphas squared off, the entire registry frozen in silence.

Aleksei smirked, voice dripping poison.-------------------

''You always said you'd never be tied down. That you'd let an Omega weaken you. Now look at you-------soft, pathetic.''

Dimitri jaw flexed. His rage was ice, not fire. ''You came here to stop me? You'll fail. You think you're powerful? I own the city.''

Aleksei lunged, hand going for Dimitri's collar. but Dimitri moved faster------his feet cracked across Aleksei's jaw, sending him sprawling across the polished floor. Gasps echoed through the room.

Bodyguards brawled. Desks overtured. Lev shielded Matev with his body, eyes wide. Dimitri grabbed Alekesi by the hair, slamming him into a pillar. His voice was deadly calm: ''Touch my family again, and I'll bury you in the same dirt you crawled out of.''

Aleksei spat blood, eyes wild with range ------but there was fear there, too.

Dimitri stood over Aleksei, chest heaving, his black shirt ripped at the sleeve. He turned to the clerk, eyes blazing. ''The paperwork.''

The trebling clerk handed over the finalized registration: Matev Romanov. Officially Dimitri's son.

Lev sank into the chair, tears streaming down his face as he hugged Matev close. Dimitri crossed the room, dropped to one knee, and pressed his forehead to Lev's ''He's ours,'' Dimitri whispered hoarsely. ''Forever. No one will take him from us.''

------But even as they each held each other, Aleksei's cold eyes watched from the floor. The fight wasn't over. Not yet.--------------------------------
