"You—!" Ciel's voice cracked, shrill with shock. "NO—!"
A certain dark violet haze bled off her limbs. Her steps toward Keres were slow at first, deliberate, and then not slow at all.
Every head turned, every eye in that ruined estate was on the pale, moth-winged figure of Lilianna. She was walking straight into the smoke toward the thing they all had been trying to kill all night long.
Ethan also heard Ciel's scream and lifted his head from the mud. Even half-blind with the ringing in his ears, he felt the murky current of spiritual power bending inward, converging inside Lilianna.
He had known that spiritual power since he had been using it for a while now, and he knew exactly what Lilianna was trying to do with it.
Lilianna probably figured that normal man-made firepower was already useless against that zerg, so she planned to use spiritual power to kill Keres. To make sure that she killed it, she would use herself as a bomb to kill Keres.
