"No problem, Lord Whis. If you are interested, I can tell you about my universe.
"We have a very unique type of life form there. They are born in a place called the Warp, which is the boundary between dreams and reality."
Axis began by introducing the worldview of the Warhammer universe to Whis. The Warp was undoubtedly the most distinctive feature of that cosmos.
"Oh! A space of spiritual dreams and reality. Isn't that similar to Hell here?" Whis asked.
After listening to Axis's introduction, Whis felt that this so-called Warp sounded exactly like the Hell of his own world.
However, in his world, Hell had administrators for every planet, with the Grand Kai serving as the ultimate overseer.
"Close enough. However, aside from accommodating souls, the Warp also gives birth to existences known as Chaos Demons. These guys are purely energy-based life forms, and their goal in existence is to devour the souls of living beings in the material universe," Axis explained.
"Hearing you say that, they certainly sound like very evil life forms. Even worse than the Demon Realm. By the way, you know of the Demon Realm, right?" Whis nodded as he spoke.
Although the Demon Realm also sealed away many evil races, those races were not as twisted as the Warp Demons.
Listening to Axis describe the deeds of the Chaos Demons, Whis felt that the world Axis traveled to needed a God of Destruction to completely destroy such disgusting life. The extent of their evil had reached heinous levels.
It was truly strange. Even though it was meant to be a resting place for souls of the dead, why would such demons be born there?
"Regrettably, when I first arrived in that world, I had the same idea. But these Chaos Demons are endless. No matter how many you slaughter, as long as the living beings in the material universe still have malice, greed, and various negative emotions, then the Warp Demons will be born continuously.
"Furthermore, inside the Warp, four extremely powerful Evil Gods have been born. They are Tzeentch, Slaanesh, Khorne, and Nurgle.
"They represent the four types of negative emotions: the filthiest, coldest, and most evil sentiments in the world," Axis smiled, revealing the other specialty of the Warp, the Chaos Gods.
"Truly peculiar evil entities. They possess no physical bodies yet stand as the supreme deities of that universe. That world is very strange. Logically speaking, this is quite unreasonable," Whis said, stroking his chin and frowning.
These things called the Chaos Gods possessed power that should, by rights, be at least on the level of the Supreme Kai, standing at the pinnacle of all gods.
Yet they had no bodies of their own and were insulated from the material universe. This was indeed a bit odd.
"If you are interested, Lord Whis, I can take you to my universe to have a look and appreciate the local customs there," Axis suggested.
Axis suspected that the Old Ones might be playing tricks over there. As for the Angel Whis, he was an existence with power that defied logic; he would be a top-tier figure in any world.
"Oh! Ho ho! Your idea is quite interesting, but as an Angel, I cannot privately travel to other universes unless the God of Destruction is willing to go with me," Whis replied.
"Haha, then let's forget it. Lord Whis, inviting you is fine, but if I invite Beerus, I worry he might destroy my universe," Axis said.
There was no need to doubt it; a God of Destruction had the power to wipe out a universe. When Axis fought Gogeta, the shockwaves from their battle alone had torn through space.
If not for the fact that both of them held back to avoid shattering the entire universe, it would not have been a difficult task.
A battle between a Destroyer and a Super Saiyan God could absolutely cause a universe to completely collapse.
Beerus's personality was very eccentric, and the Imperium of Man could hardly be considered "good guys" in the eyes of Dragon Ball characters.
In fact, they weren't much better than the Frieza Force. Axis was very worried that some blind fool would offend Beerus, leading to a fight between himself and the Destroyer.
"You have a point. Beerus's temper is indeed not very good. However, I think that after your training ends, you should be able to solve the issues over there yourself. You are a life form of the Seventh Universe, so if you have time, you can go back to your own world to visit," Whis said.
If Axis hadn't been a native life form of the Seventh Universe, Whis wouldn't have been so friendly toward him.
But since he was born in the Seventh Universe, it didn't matter, and Whis could instruct him with peace of mind.
"That is exactly what I was thinking. Before returning to my hometown again, I want to obtain the power of a Destroyer God. Then I can go back to my universe and destroy those masterminds behind the scenes," Axis said.
"Then you must do your best. Train hard! By the way, does your universe have any special gourmet food?" This was the question Whis truly cared about. After all, it was food from another world.
"I am sorry, Lord Whis. The food in the Imperium of Man is likely inferior to Earth's. However, there is a race there called the Eldar. They were once a top-tier powerful race in the universe, and their species is extremely luxurious.
"They are almost the race that knows how to enjoy life the most, with endless varieties of entertainment and styles. I can go check sometime and see if they have any suitable delicacies to bring back for you," Axis offered.
The Imperium truly lacked decent food; food there had only one purpose, which was to fill the stomach. They even recycled certain corpses, including human ones.
The Eldar were completely different; they were the race in that universe that knew best how to enjoy themselves.
The current Imperium had not yet established Paradise Worlds or Garden Worlds as vacation spots, so there were no suitable places to play or eat.
"It seems the faction you are in is a rapidly expanding cosmic legion. Such a legion indeed wouldn't have anything good to eat. I am quite interested in this Eldar race you mentioned.
"Please, Axis, you must bring me some unique Eldar delicacies, or simply bring a top Eldar chef over! And get some ingredients while you're at it," Whis requested.
His understanding of the Imperium was similar to that of the Frieza Force; a faction existing solely for war was unlikely to appreciate enjoyment. Or rather, even if they did, they wouldn't be better at it than the Eldar.
"That would be no problem, Lord Whis!" Axis replied.
To him, this was a trivial matter that could be easily accomplished.
"Alright, the chat ends here. Now, I will guide your training." The two stopped chatting, and Whis began to teach Axis the training methods.
Specifically, he taught the method of integrating one's own power. Axis listened very seriously. Whis's words went straight to the core of his power system.
His power came from stacking multiple powerful transformations. As Whis said, these forms were more like switches; he obtained power only by turning them on, rather than it being his inherent state.
"I understand, Lord Whis," Axis said in a deep voice, his eyes becoming focused. "I will try to strip away those external forms and retrieve the origin of the power."
Axis closed his eyes.
He ceased intentionally triggering the S-Cells within his body. He did not guide the golden aura of the Super Saiyan, did not summon the crimson glow of the God mode, did not mobilize the berserk green light of the Legendary Super Saiyan, and did not maintain the four-colored brilliance of the fusion form.
He began to search inward, sensing the core of power that belonged to Axis himself, which had settled after countless battles, fusions, and divine baptisms.
This process was much more difficult than he had imagined. Accustomed to releasing power through specific forms, when he deliberately suppressed them, his power felt sealed layer by layer, moving with extreme stagnation.
His aura became chaotic.
Golden light, crimson divinity, green rage, and the four colors of fusion rolled and clashed on the surface of his body like overturned buckets of paint.
They erupted and subsided intermittently, appearing extremely unstable. The powerful energy fluctuations even made the solid ground of the Destroyer's Planet tremble slightly.
Whis hovered quietly to the side, tapping his staff lightly on the ground. An invisible force protected the surroundings to prevent the escaping energy from disturbing the sleeping Beerus.
His eyes held a hint of amusement and expectation, and he did not speak to interfere. Axis's aptitude was quite good.
Being able to rely on his own comprehension to reach the realm of gods in another world was absolutely not to be underestimated.
He would definitely be able to successfully cross this step.
If Axis succeeded, Whis would have to consider persuading him to stay in this region of the universe instead of returning to his hometown, and ask if he would be willing to serve as a God of Destruction candidate.
Axis's brows were tightly locked, and beads of fine sweat seeped from his forehead.
He felt the power within his body like countless berserk dragons, each acting on its own and tearing at each other.
He tried not to command them to turn into a certain form, but rather to understand them. He felt the characteristics of each power:
The pure amplification of the Super Saiyan, the depth and rules of the God Realm, the infinite potential and rage of the Legendary form, and the qualitative change brought by fusion.
He no longer tried to distinguish them, but instead sought their common source: the most primitive Ki and Will belonging to his own life essence.
Time passed bit by bit. The chaotic light on Axis's body surface began to calm down gradually. It no longer conflicted violently but cooled like boiling water.
Those dazzling golden, red, green, and multi-colored halos began to converge inward, no longer radiating outward. Although his aura was still powerful, it no longer had the intense oppressive feeling and morphological characteristics of his previous transformations. Instead, it became... plain.
Finally, Axis slowly opened his eyes. He maintained the most ordinary form with black hair and black pupils, without any flame of transformation on his body.
However, a deep, condensed sense of power naturally radiated from him. Axis gently clenched his fist, feeling the torrent of power surging within.
This power no longer required a specific key to unlock. He didn't have to transform to increase his strength.
It was right there, moving as he directed. It was his base state.
The four-colored brilliance and battle special effects were completely unnecessary for the current Axis. Just a normal punch could unleash his power to the extreme.
Although various transformations could still be used, the current transformations were more like visual effects; they would not wildly increase his power because that power had already become a part of Axis's inherent strength.
After completing the integration of all his powers, Axis's strength had reached a higher level, taking a step further on the path of gods.
At this moment, Axis radiated divine brilliance from head to toe. Except for the inability to use Energy of Destruction, he was almost on par with the God of Destruction, Beerus, in Whis's eyes.
As long as Axis learned Energy of Destruction, his current combat power would allow him to serve as an official God of Destruction completely, not merely as an intern or candidate.
"Oh? Very good!" A flash of approval passed through Whis's eyes. "To be able to stabilize initially on the first attempt, and even restrain most of the external manifestations, your comprehension and foundation are better than I imagined.
"This proves that your previous accumulation was indeed profound enough. Remember this feeling, Axis. Power is not an external decoration but an internal extension. You are walking toward the posture a god should have."
Axis felt the peaceful yet vast power in his body and smiled. "Thank you for your guidance, Lord Whis. This feeling... is wonderful. The power seems more obedient and purer."
"Exactly so," Whis nodded. "Next, you need to constantly consolidate this feeling. Any 'transformation' will just be icing on the cake, not a necessary prerequisite. Your upper limit will be higher, and you can exert the power originally belonging to you in your base state."
Axis nodded solemnly, engraving Whis's teachings in his heart.
After integrating all his own power, Axis understood that the Super Saiyan transformation and the God transformation, though possessing magnificent special effects, were actually just wasted effort.
"Then let us return to the main topic, Axis. Since you have preliminarily integrated your power and possess a stable and powerful 'Divine Foundation,' it is time to contact a higher level of divine power. The deeper energy of the Destroyer God. I will teach you how to use this power now. I am looking forward to seeing how long it takes you to learn it."
Whis changed the subject, intending to teach Axis something useful. The only way for Axis to improve further now, aside from training his own divine power, was to master the strongest Energy of Destruction.
A speck of deep purple light, seemingly capable of devouring all other light, lit up at the tip of Whis's finger.
That light contained the pure destruction that ends all things, the energy belonging to a God of Destruction.
"Lord Whis, I thought Energy of Destruction was exclusive to Destroyer Gods. I didn't expect you could use it too."
"Oh, ho ho. I am Lord Beerus's teacher. Or rather, all Angels are the teachers of Destroyer Gods. We can naturally use Energy of Destruction; otherwise, how would I teach Beerus?"
Axis nodded upon hearing this. As an Angel, Whis could naturally display Energy of Destruction, since Destroyer Gods were all taught by Angels.
"Energy of Destruction is a purely destructive energy that can decompose anything. Your Ki energy, various material rays in the universe, and things both tangible and intangible can be destroyed by Energy of Destruction. Feel it... and then I will teach you how to comprehend it."
Whis began to seriously teach Axis the use and training methods for mastering Energy of Destruction.
Following Whis's words, the speck of purple light floated toward Axis like a living creature.
Axis's body made contact with the Energy of Destruction, yet he felt no discomfort. Controlled by Whis, this stream of Energy of Destruction slowly entered Axis's body.
Deep in Axis's spiritual world, as he attempted to understand the true meaning of destruction, Whis revealed a satisfied smile.
He had not misjudged him; Axis's ability to comprehend was very strong, and his own foundation and base were very solid.
He could be said to be the strongest Destroyer candidate Whis had ever trained. Lord Beerus back in the day was far inferior to Axis. Just reaching the realm where Axis could train in divine power had taken Lord Beerus several hundred years.
That was considered extremely high aptitude. Furthermore, comprehending Energy of Destruction had taken another long period.
Time passed slowly, and in the blink of an eye, a month had gone by. During this month, Axis had been comprehending the energy of destruction and had not left the room at all.
During this period, Axis constantly perceived the destruction within the energy, the kind of annihilation that destroyed all things.
He learned to coat his body surface with it, turning it into an energy that could completely destroy an enemy's attacks.
Finally, under Whis's expectant gaze, Axis opened his eyes. A flash of purple energy shone within them.
"Lord Whis, I want to know who was faster in comprehending Energy of Destruction: me or Lord Beerus?" Axis opened his eyes and raised his palm.
A stream of purple energy appeared in the center of Axis's hand. Although it was only a little bit, it was true Destroyer God energy.
"Your aptitude is quite a bit better than Lord Beerus's. It took Beerus several hundred years to achieve what you have done," Whis praised Axis without being stingy.
"Thank you very much for your praise, Lord Whis. Thank you for letting me master this power." Axis bowed to the Angel in front of him.
Axis had once planned to take a risk and absorb Energy of Destruction to try and comprehend it, but now there was a faster shortcut.
And fortunately, he hadn't gambled on accepting the Energy of Destruction directly back then; otherwise, let alone absorbing it, his body would have been destroyed the moment he touched it.
Only after truly mastering this power did Axis understand just how strong the power of a Destroyer was.
"You woke up at just the right time, Axis. If you hadn't woken up, you would have missed a good show. Just yesterday, Champa, the God of Destruction of the Sixth Universe, arrived in our universe," Whis said.
"Oh, the God of Destruction of the Sixth Universe?" Axis spoke calmly, though inwardly he knew the moment he had been waiting for had finally arrived.
The Super Dragon Balls.
