"Did something happen?" Axis asked.
"Something of a small issue indeed," Whis replied. "Yesterday, Lord Champa paid a visit to Lord Beerus. He brought out some bird eggs that were allegedly a supreme delicacy and offered us a taste. But to be honest, that stuff didn't even compare to the flavor of the simplest instant noodles from Earth. It was essentially just the taste of hard-boiled eggs."
Truth be told, living with Ms. Vados was quite difficult for Lord Champa.
His sister essentially always cooked him the most unpalatable meals, which resulted in even mediocre food appearing as an absolute delicacy in Champa's eyes.
However, there was no helping it. Lord Champa's aptitude was relatively poor, and his strength had always been ranked at the very bottom among the Gods of Destruction.
His sister simply wanted him to train diligently and increase his power. Otherwise, a being capable of replacing the God of Destruction would likely be born within the Sixth Universe.
"The Sixth Universe and our Seventh Universe are twin universes, just like a pair of identical twins," Whis explained. "The same applies to the Gods of Destruction of these two universes; they are twin brothers, and both ascended to the godhood of their respective universes.
"Yet, despite being brothers with Beerus, Champa's relationship with him is terrible. The two of them engage in all sorts of contests constantly."
"Is that so? It seems the two Gods of Destruction fight often. I would quite like to witness a battle between Destroyers," Axis said with a smile.
"That might be a bit difficult. Lord Beerus's strength is top-tier among the Gods of Destruction, whereas Lord Champa is an existence near the absolute bottom," Whis noted. "With your current strength, you might be able to match Lord Beerus for a short while, but you would ultimately face defeat.
"However, if you were to face Champa, you would have hope of victory. Axis, once you train for another period of time, I feel even Lord Beerus won't be your match, though you must first master Ultra Instinct."
"In that case, it looks like I could spar with this Sixth Universe Destroyer," Axis said.
"Perhaps there will be a chance to try in the future. Let me tell you what happened next," Whis continued. "Lord Beerus had me bring out several cups of instant noodles from Earth. Lord Champa found them to be a supreme delicacy and thus learned about Earth's cuisine.
"Since the Sixth and Seventh Universes are twin brothers, anything the Seventh has, the Sixth must surely possess as well. So, he began searching for the Earth of the Sixth Universe, hoping to find its cuisine.
"Unfortunately, the Earth of the Sixth Universe had been destroyed by warfare, meaning Lord Champa could not eat Earth's food. Consequently, he decided to initiate a battle for Earth."
"Gods of Destruction really are willful," Axis commented. "But given Beerus's personality, he wouldn't easily agree to such a boring battle, would he?"
"Correct. Lord Beerus naturally wouldn't agree to hand over the Earth of his own world. However, because Lord Champa had no wager of equal value initially, he added a specific stake. In our universes, there is something known as the Super Dragon Balls, which can grant almost any desire.
"Champa and Ms. Vados have already collected six of them, with only one remaining. Lord Champa put these up as a wager against Lord Beerus. Each universe is to send out five warriors to battle. If our universe loses, Earth will be transported to the Sixth Universe. But if the Sixth Universe loses, the six Super Dragon Balls that the Destroyer painstakingly collected will be handed over to Lord Beerus," Whis explained.
"Master Whis, if I participate in the war, I should be able to ensure our universe wins with one hundred percent certainty," Axis stated.
In the original timeline, the Sixth Universe actually won this battle because the Seventh Universe's anchor combatant, Monaka, was fundamentally just a weak courier deliveryman. He was merely someone Beerus dragged in temporarily to motivate Goku and Vegeta.
They hadn't anticipated that the Sixth Universe would harbor a terrifying existence like Hit, nor that the Sixth Universe also possessed a Saiyan race.
But now, if he and Kratos joined this battle, the Sixth Universe would have virtually no chance of victory.
"That is precisely what I wanted to discuss with you, Axis. Lord Beerus wishes for you and your son, Kratos, to join this battle to ensure the Seventh Universe secures victory. So, Axis, are you willing to participate in the tournament held by the two Gods of Destruction?" Whis asked.
The warriors of Earth participated to protect their home world, which was beyond reproach, but Axis did not count as a life form native to Earth. Naturally, he had no obligation to join this competition.
Yet, if Axis and Kratos, father and son, participated, the victory was practically locked in. Leaving Kratos aside for a moment, Goku and Vegeta had basically reached the qualifications to be recruited as Destroyer Candidates.
Axis alone, taking the anchor position, would be enough to crush all the warriors of the Sixth Universe.
Even if the Destroyer Champa stepped into the ring himself, it would be futile. According to Whis's estimation, Champa's strength was inferior to Axis's.
Saiyans were a warrior race; in a situation where strengths were roughly equal, a Saiyan would hold the absolute advantage.
"Saiyans are warlike. To be able to battle stronger opponents, I am naturally willing," Axis said. "However, I desire a specific remuneration. I am very interested in those six Super Dragon Ball. Lord Whis, could you give the usage rights of those six Super Dragon Ball to me?"
What Axis wanted were the Super Dragon Ball. This was an opportunity. The reward for the father and son participating would be the use of the Super Dragon Balls.
The final Super Dragon Ball was actually the very planet used as the tournament grounds. The size of a Super Dragon Ball was grand enough to be a planet itself.
"Really now, Axis, you actually want to use the object of Lord Beerus and Champa's wager. I cannot make the decision on this matter alone. Come, I will take you to see Lord Beerus," Whis smiled and led Axis toward the God of Destruction's dwelling.
At that moment, Beerus was gorging himself on food. Standing beside him were Goku, Vegeta, and Kratos.
"Vegeta, tell me, should we bring Piccolo or Buu with us?" Goku asked, counting on his fingers.
For this tournament, each side had five slots. He and Vegeta were definitely participating. If Kratos and Axis, the father and son duo, joined, that took up two slots. There was still one slot left.
Originally, the most suitable candidate should have been Son Gohan, but Gohan didn't really enjoy fighting, and his martial arts had long since been neglected. Therefore, Goku planned to bring either Piccolo or Majin Buu.
"I suggest taking that green guy, Piccolo. Majin Buu's unpredictability is too high," Vegeta said after contemplating for a moment.
"I can't be sure what he might do on the battlefield. Rather than taking him, it would be better to bring someone reliable. Unless Axis doesn't participate in this competition, only then should we bring Majin Buu."
In terms of combat power, Fat Buu was certainly stronger. With his abnormal regenerative abilities coupled with power rivaling Super Saiyan 3, usually, almost no one could beat him.
Vegeta's suggestion was quite fair. Goku thought for a moment and then nodded, agreeing to it.
Just then, Whis walked in with Axis. Upon seeing Axis, Goku immediately waved his hand happily, greeting him.
Lord Beerus was initially indifferent, but upon seeing Axis, his expression changed instantly. He looked at Axis with shock written across his face.
The feeling Axis gave him was completely different now. Before, although Axis was a god, he still retained a part of mortality; much of the power he used still belonged to mortals.
But now, Axis had completely shed his mortal shell. Those cumbersome Saiyan transformations were gone. Axis had integrated his power.
Moreover, from Axis's body, Beerus could sense a familiar power, it was the Energy of Destruction. Beerus was extremely sensitive to this type of energy; after all, it was the signature power of a God of Destruction.
"Not bad! Axis, you truly haven't disappointed me. It seems you have successfully mastered the Energy of Destruction," Beerus remarked. "Your current strength is no weaker than an average God of Destruction.
"As long as your application of Energy of Destruction matures a bit more, you will be a complete Destroyer. At the very least, you'd be more qualified than that fellow Champa. Hey! Whis, send a message to the higher-ups!
"How about recommending this guy to become the God of Destruction for the Sixth Universe? I feel the two of us would get along much better." Beerus suddenly said on a whim.
"Oh my, oh my! Lord Beerus, I can only determine the Destroyer Candidates for the Seventh Universe; I cannot decide matters for the Sixth Universe. Besides, whether Axis is willing to be a God of Destruction is another matter entirely," Whis shrugged helplessly and laughed.
Lord Beerus really did just say whatever came to mind. Was a God of Destruction someone who could be swapped out at will? And did he really not know what replacing a Destroyer meant? Champa was, after all, his twin brother.
On the side, Axis was somewhat curious. Replacing a God of Destruction was no simple matter. What would happen to the old Destroyer after the replacement?
This was a question Axis found intriguing. In the original story, after the martial arts tournament between the Sixth and Seventh Universes concluded, the Omni-King suddenly appeared and suggested that if the work wasn't being done well, perhaps they should change the Gods of Destruction. Both Beerus and Champa were terrified out of their wits.
At that time, people speculated that changing the God of Destruction meant killing the original one to let another person inherit the divinity and duties of the Destroyer.
However, in the Tournament of Power arc, the concept of a Candidate God of Destruction was introduced.
Moreover, the Candidate was personally selected by the clown Destroyer, Belmod. Therefore, the idea that replacing a Destroyer would truly involve executing the original seemed unlikely.
Furthermore, if a God of Destruction died, the corresponding Supreme Kai would also die. Axis was slightly curious about what would befall a replaced Destroyer. Would they go somewhere to retire, or would they be directly erased by the Omni-King?
Axis felt the probability of erasure by the Omni-King was too low. Otherwise, destroyers would likely try to eliminate their candidates. Beerus wouldn't have agreed to let Whis train Goku and Vegeta, nor would he have personally offered guidance to Vegeta in later arcs, like the Granolah the Survivor saga, allowing him to acquire Ultra Ego.
Axis estimated that they probably just retired somewhere in their original universe.
The only question was whether they would lose their immortality without the divine position of the Destroyer. Would a replaced Destroyer age and die like a mortal?
"Hahaha! Axis, it's great that you've awakened. Goku, Vegeta, and the ones called Piccolo and Majin Buu, you two can decide as you please. Anyway, when the competition starts, just bring one along. With Axis taking the anchor position, we will absolutely achieve victory," Beerus declared triumphantly after sensing Axis's power.
With Axis present, he didn't care about Majin Buu or that Piccolo fellow. Champa would absolutely not win. His side would crush them, driving that fat tub of lard into utter despair.
"Lord Beerus, I was just about to speak to you regarding this matter. Axis can participate in the competition, but he has a condition he hopes you will agree to," Whis interjected.
"Oh? What condition? Let's hear it," Beerus dug a finger into his ear, looked at Axis, and asked.
If it were anyone else, they wouldn't have the qualifications to negotiate with Beerus. But Axis was different now; he had stepped into the domain of the gods and had even comprehended Energy of Destruction.
So, he would hear him out. Did he want to fight him? That should be what a Saiyan desires most, right?
"It would be better for him to tell you personally, Lord Beerus," Whis smiled and made way for Axis.
"Lord Beerus, I can participate in this contest and act as the final guardian to ensure your victory. Naturally, Kratos will participate as well. My condition is that after the victory, the Super Dragon Ball you win must be given to me to make a wish," Axis said.
"Oh! So you want the Super Dragon Ball. Hmm, go ahead. I'm not particularly interested in those things anyway," Beerus stroked his chin and replied.
He had assumed this Saiyan would ask for a fight with him. After all, based on his understanding of Saiyans, that was their most coveted desire. Who could have guessed Axis would demand the Super Dragon Ball?
For others, the Super Dragon Ball might be magical items, but to a God of Destruction, they were of little use.
The strongest constraints on a Destroyer were the Angels, the Grand Minister, and the Omni-King above them. The Super Dragon simply couldn't affect those higher beings; otherwise, people would have gathered the orbs long ago.
Furthermore, the prize only included six orbs. Afterward, they would still have to find the final one. He couldn't be bothered to get involved in such a troublesome affair. Defeating Champa was enough to give him extreme satisfaction.
"Then it's a deal, Lord Beerus. Kratos and I will join this competition and secure victory for you. Afterward, we will take the six Super Dragon Ball."
"Alright. However, I must remind you, Axis, the Super Dragon Ball are items belonging to our universe context. If you leave, they must stay behind. You cannot take them away, understood?" Beerus added.
After all, the Super Dragon Ball were created by the Dragon God Zalama. It was fine for this kid to use them, but taking them to another world was out of the question.
"I understand," Axis replied.
"Okay, you all get ready. In three days, we will set off for the Void to thoroughly teach Champa a lesson," Beerus finished speaking, yawned, turned around, and walked away.
"That's great, Axis! With you joining the tournament, it's going to be exciting. Damn it, I really want to fight you," Goku said.
"If you want to fight, we can do it anytime. How is the development of that fusion transformation going? Have you been able to fuse the powers of Super Saiyan 4 and Super Saiyan Blue yet?" Axis asked.
Now that he had consolidated his own power and obtained Energy of Destruction, Axis badly wanted a matched opponent. If Vegeta and Son Goku could fuse the powers of SSJ4 and Blue, the resulting Gogeta might be able to fight him.
"We've only grasped the basics. It's only been a month, and we just got familiar with the Super Saiyan 4 transformation. We're currently integrating it. You'll probably have to wait a while longer," Goku admitted.
"Time doesn't matter. By the way, Kratos, what about you? Have you comprehended the power of the Super Saiyan God?" Axis asked.
"I have successfully comprehended the application of god power, Father. Now, I can easily transform into a Super Saiyan God." Kratos's body lit up with a layer of red light.
His figure became leaner, his eyes shone with a spiritual aura, and he radiated a divine brilliance as his hair turned red.
This was the characteristic of a Super Saiyan God. Immediately following that, Kratos utilized the Super Saiyan transformation while in the Super Saiyan God form.
The red light around his body was enveloped by blue, turning him into Super Saiyan Blue.
"Excellent. It seems you have comprehended this transformation. Training on the Destroyer's planet was indeed the correct choice. Keep it up. What you need to do now, just like Goku and the others, is to integrate the powers of Super Saiyan 4 and Super Saiyan God," Axis instructed.
"Axis, I feel like you've become different. You must have entered the next stage of training. Can you tell us what the content of the next stage is?" Goku asked.
"Hahaha! As you can see, Goku, Vegeta, and you too, Kratos, once you fuse all your powers, try to eliminate the transformation entirely. That is inherently your own power; learn to integrate it. Don't turn the Saiyans into a color-changing race.
"There aren't many hair colors left for Saiyans. We have to elevate our base form," Axis revealed without holding anything back, directly telling them the correct method for the next stage of cultivation.
"So that's how it is!."
