Chapter 41 - 41 Status

"You said it takes some power from those who use it, will this slow down our growth?"

"No, the type of power it takes is useless to most mortals and if they can use it then I have already added another way for them to pay the system."

"But it will spread any techniques that are considered secret or forbidden outside of those who have permission to use it. That could be a downside for some." Gregory pointed out.

"That is a good point. Hmm, I'll add a message requesting the use and spreading of any new techniques. That way any secret techniques will remain a secret, eventually I will add a section for clan techniques but that is for the future."

"What if they pass away before their technique can be shared?" Lyla cut in, for some reason she sounded very hopeful.

"In the case that there is no one left who practices or can pass on the technique or spell then it will become available to the public."

"Is there a price for accessing your skill library?" Chronos asked

"No but there will be a price to learn the skills in the library, they will be priced according to their level of power. The system will grant points based off of what you do in your life, this can include points for combat, for learning or developing something new, or even just living a normal life. The number of points granted will be different for each individual and the difficulty of what they have accomplished." Hrólmir had clearly thought this part through.

A pity he wasn't willing to say what would give you the most points or easy ways to earn them.

"Will this system allow you to control our followers?"

Lyla had been the one to ask but that was not Lyla's voice! Looking at her Chronos saw that her eyes were glowing gold and a divine presence emanated from her.

Hrólmir's smile widened as he answered her question, "No, my system will not allow harmful magic to be cast through it. Only beneficial magic including any blessings you wish to give to your followers. It will not protect the user from harmful magic cast externally, only the magic cast through the system."

Receiving permission from the three main gods would make it much easier to spread his system throughout the world, that would greatly speed up his own growth.

As Lyla's eyes returned to their normal light golden color Chronos continued the question-and-answer session.

"Will it correct flawed techniques and when does it classify a technique as being learned?"

"No, it will not correct flawed techniques, but it will inform you of their side effects. As for recording techniques, it will only do so once you can perform them with a measurable degree of mastery. I have already incorporated multiple tiers for techniques and spells to reflect an individual's level of proficiency."

"Who can see the information in your system?" Sariah asked.

"The gods and I can see your information; it may also help organize what you are seeing through magic's or techniques like that [Magic Sight] spell you used before."

Chronos wasn't sure if he liked that or not. If it helps people see more, they could see secrets that you didn't want others seeing, that brought up a new question.

"Will the system record titles or achievements as well?"

"Yes, but most titles and achievements can be hidden at the user's discretion. Certain titles are given by gods, and it won't hide those. Better not to offend them in that way." Hrólmir said with a conspiratorial wink.

With that they had asked all of the questions they could think of. They needed to decide if they wanted to accept this system or not.

After consulting with each other for a time Chronos stepped forward.

"I will be the first to have the system once my friends see what it does, they can choose to receive it or not."

Nodding Hrólmir picked up the crystal from the ground, when it was in the void it had been black but now it was blue. Casting magic over the crystal strings of runes came out of it, they floated around him and formed several spinning circles creating a glowing orb.

After some time, they linked to Chronos flowing through his body before twisting together in front of him to form a transparent sheet of perfectly flat paper.

On it was a list stating his name, abilities. and other important information. He read the transparent paper to see if it said anything that he didn't want others to know, the more he read the stranger his expression became.

Basic skills

Shatter - Master: A surge of aura enters a targeted defense, infiltrating its structure and destabilizing it from within. Shields, walls, hardened carapaces, and other defensive abilities suffer severe damage, as Shatter is specifically designed to break protections from the inside out.

Aura Edge - Master: The aura sharpens the weapon's ability to cleave and pierce, and can also harden it against damage, greatly increasing its durability in prolonged combat.

Aura Body - Master: This technique passively reinforces the body over time, with the nature and degree of enhancement shaped by the practitioner's chosen method of training. Different disciplines may favor strength, speed, endurance, resilience, or other physical attributes.

When activated deliberately, Aura Body can temporarily push one or more physical abilities beyond their natural limits, granting a short-lived surge of superhuman performance.

Impact - Master: Upon contact, the user's aura detonates in a concentrated burst at the point of impact. The size and intensity of the blast scale with the user's level of mastery, ranging from sharp, armor-cracking bursts to devastating shockwaves capable of hurling foes backward.

Roar - Master (Altered): Aura enhances your voice to taunt all nearby enemies, those with a strong mind can resist this taunt. Alteration: The aura in your voice forms a solid wall that rams into everything in front of you when used. (Can cause harm to user's voice if their body is not strong enough).

Adhesion - Skilled: By coating your hands and feet in a thin film of aura, you can cling to walls and other surfaces. The same technique can also slow your descent, provided you can reach and maintain contact with a nearby wall while falling.

Fangbound Arts

Cold-Moon Pressure - Skilled: A passive aura field that, once activated, cloaks the user in a cold, wintry air. It subtly slows an enemy's movements and saps their determination, attacking both the body and mind.

Blood-Scent Surge - Master: This ability can only be activated after first blood has been drawn, whether the user's or an enemy's. Once triggered, it heightens pain tolerance, sharpens reaction speed, and greatly increases grip strength—enough to crush even an ogre's skull with bare hands.

Side effect: The user becomes fixated on a single target, ignoring all other threats or distractions until that target is dead. This can be alleviated through mastery but never overcome.

Bone-Reading Touch - Skilled: By maintaining physical contact with your opponent, your aura maps their muscle movements in real time, allowing you to predict when and where they will strike—even if you cannot see the motion at all. This enables precise, surgical attacks against joints, weak points, and balance.

GrayFang War-Mantle - Initiate: (Required rank to learn: 2) When multiple Fangbound disciples act in unison, this technique allows their individual auras to merge into a single, oppressive mantle that settles over the battlefield.

Within this field, movement becomes difficult to follow, distances are subtly distorted, and attacks veer from their intended paths. Those caught beneath the mantle misjudge space itself—strikes fall short, overextend, or twist aside at the last moment.

Many believe the technique does not merely confuse the senses but actively interferes with the fabric of space.

Fang Within the Arc - Skilled: The user releases a short, focused aura pulse the instant they step into an opponent's weapon range. The pulse strikes the blade or the wielder's wrist, disrupting control at the point of contact.

A hit to the weapon can jar the opponent's stance and throw off their balance, while a direct strike to the wrist may weaken their grip or briefly numb the weapon arm.

-- Bloodline Abilities--

Sever: Coat your weapon or claws in condensed spatial energy, causing each strike to sever the very space it passes through. While empowered, your attacks slice cleanly through any physical object, ignoring conventional defenses. In addition, the distortion amplifies harm against non-physical forces, dealing double damage to aura, magic, and beings composed of energy.

Isolate: The caster condenses spatial energy into a solid barrier that severs its contents from the outside world. Lacking any inherent magical or physical weakness, the barrier cannot be unraveled through technique or exploited through elemental counters; it must be broken by overwhelming force alone.

The barrier may take any shape the caster has trained to form—walls, cages, layered shells, or complex geometric constructs. If no specific form has been prepared, it manifests instinctively as a seamless dome surrounding the chosen target.}

Looking over his entire status and seeing the detailed analysis of all of his skills abilities and even a bloodline he didn't know he had Chronos only had one thing to say.

"What the f---!?"
