Gilbert sighed quietly. Who wouldn't give in when a pair of pleading eyes stared at you like that? Even if it wasn't what he wanted, he agreed.
"Listen to Grandma," Gilbert said flatly.
Cherry blinked, her eyes widening in shock.
Grandma Mathilde beamed. Her smile nearly reached her ears as she quickly ordered the maids to prepare the guest room.
"Okay, Cherry, miss, you go with Gilbert. He'll show you the way," the old woman said, gently patting Cherry's arm before ushering her toward the grand staircase.
With nothing else to say, Cherry followed behind Gilbert, and her heart sank with every step. When they reached the large narra door, Gilbert pushed it open and walked in without looking back. Cherry stayed frozen outside, her heart knocking against her chest.
"What are you waiting for?" Gilbert asked, turning to her. "Come in."
Cherry bit her lip, staring at the floor. "W-Why did you even agree to Grandma Mathilde's wish?" she whispered, not hiding the tremble in her voice.
