Chapter 22 - Chapter 21

I waved my hand and sent Lissette home. Jack screamed and I told him to grow up. Erebus replaced her on the criminal's podium. I asked her why she sent her familiar to attack the other realms. She shrugged, "I have no familiar" I smiled, "Only because she is in Helios Zenith. You have no clue where it is or how to get there. All you knows is that someone must take her place. I want to know why you attacked the other realms. If you have committed the atrocity then you is Destro. It means the destroyer of worlds. You are bound by old magic to tell the truth." She tried to shut up but I slammed the gavel. She spoke through the gritted teeth, "I want to use Queen Jetta's daughter as a sacrifice. Her blood would help me enhance my magic ten folds. My familiar was caught and sent somewhere I can't find. I will reunite with her and I will find her. I forced Dracula to lead the army to demolish everything. But the guardian was summoned. She spoke to him and the spell was annihilated. Then she sent the baby elsewhere. Do you know how hard I worked to find the child. Then I had to move to a world where I had to be a slave serving the new guardian hand and foot while trying to convince Dracula that the guardian made him empty promises" Jetta gripped her seat as she laughed hysterically and so did the others on the left. The ones on the right stared indignantly. I sentenced to the iron maiden for the remainder of her life. Her magic and life force will be drained to sustain wards that are now thinning. She promised to escape as black liquid enveloped and took her away. I faced Jack and sentenced him to the void. A black hole opened and he was sucked in. He was screaming profanities but it didn't do him any good.

The hearing was over and I thanked everyone for their attendance. But before we go I wanted to be sure I was her daughter I summoned an obsidian bowl with gold markings. A sharp silver dagger was already inside. I ran the blade over my palm and requested that she do the same. She didn't hesitate. Our blood dripped into the bowl and what I muttered simply was blood of my blood. Both merged like they were one from the start. The ones on the left applauded with glee. Jetta actually cried black tears. I wiped them away and tried to find something to staunch the bleeding. Chhaya happily waved her hand over my wound and the wound sealed itself. I thanked her as I tried to figure out a glamour spell to hide from Morgana if she escaped. The seven ladies grinned as they explained how they will inflict an immense amount of pain if she escaped. I explained that the only way to hurt her was to kill her familiar. Since she uses it to tap into the lay lines to siphon magic to cause harm. Her powers will diminish drastically after her death. She will still be a formidable opponent. But Helios Zenith is a place you can only enter and leave as you like only if you are the warden. Vespera wanted to know if I found this information from the Grimoire. I nod my head. I was always unusual but the Grimoire is my first step to magic. She grinned as she asked me if I had encountered any witches. I told her about the two who tried to switch bodies with me. Then the old lady who opened a rift unleash disaster. She used cursed fire to heat her rusted cauldron. This earned a few snarls and protests. Both sides agreed spells cast using an old rusted cauldron was a recipe for disaster. Cursed fire to heat the cauldron was a big mistake.

A folded origami crane flew in and Tiberius' voice. He requested I return since the rift had opened and something nasty has came out. I requested a subtle glamour charm so I could weed out all of Morgana's supporters whilst staying alive. Mom waved her hand and opened the door. It did not open to the realm I live in. It opened to show her dark kingdom. I closed the door and took a deep breath before I reopened it. It showed the mansion and a few people standing in a line by the gate. They were fighting a figure made of fire. I walked out and flung my hand as though I was using a whip. Ice shot out of my hands. The ice beam hit it dead center and it fought hard as it slowly became an ice sculpture. The skeleton king bowed to show his thanks and gave me a golden sceptre before leaving. I went inside and came with the Grimoire. I made sure it faced Desdemon. I asked her to take a moment to remember the wrong. She did and pages began to flip. She got her answer after a few minutes. She gave me a ring as thanks and walked back to the courtroom. She was followed by everyone except mom. She stayed behind. I escorted her in and introduced her to my companions. Tiberius and Zilmera bowed with respect. The others showed nod to recognition. She then met Rhaevor and Cleopatra. Edgar came running and mom was curious why I had an adorable little puppy. A figure showed up and I threw my puppy at it. It turned into a Cerberus and ate it. Mom laughed the entire time. She clapped with delight.

I explained that my mansion was missing an enchantress. She happily wriggled her fingers and summoned a witch. Her name was Celac. She had wild red hair barely contained by braids. She was a foot shorter than me but felt explosive. She dressed in peasant clothes from the medieval era. Gray frock that went slightly below the knee. A black corset hugging tightly under the bust narrowing her waistline. She wore two rings on each finger. One in the middle of the finger and one where everyone normally wears a ring. She was told to help me in everything and if she does anything funny. She will wish she was dead. The woman bowed and walked inside. She explained she needed to see what she had to get from her hut. Mrs. Kol followed her to make sure she wasn't going to do anything that was untoward. I asked my mother to follow me in. I told her to stand still by the door. The flames stayed as is. I told her she only needed to do it once. I explained the flames would have changed color if she was a threat. Since they didn't change then she has nothing to worry about. She walked in and looked at the candles. She eyed it with interest. She followed me in. She caressed the walls as she took it all in. She asked me if I lived here all my life. I explained that I lived elsewhere. I moved here after I was deemed fit to be the next guardian. I lived in the city and I felt like I belonged elsewhere. I wished everyday I could teleport myself somewhere everything made sense. She asked me why the windows were painted. I explained that it is to give Tiberius a safe place so he won't bake. He is sensitive to the sunlight unless he takes a potion. This was to be fair and just for everyone helping. She walked a few steps and saw red liquid dripping down. She laughed as she stared at the chandelier.

I asked her to be careful as she walked through the ballroom. The ghosts who float through can attack if slightly provoked. She looked at the empty frames and asked me why there were no frames. I explained that they are portals. They open when things get bad and I am not allowed to touch them. She wanted to know why. I explained that they respond to my touch and they would have sucked me in and everyone here won't have a clue how to get me out. She stared thoughtfully. I explained they are kept deliberately vacant. If intruders try anything they are sucked in and spat out of the front gate. She would have noticed the skull on the iron gate. She grinned with approval. She asked me what obstacles I had to face as a guardian. I explained how the people in this town wish to replace me with one of their own. So far the weapons which defeat the menaces demanded a few years of their life which can't be reimbursed. I was put to sleep for three days so they can understand my occupation. My other mother was amongst those allowed to stay here. Some of the locals were very unhappy. The building does not allow those who have harmed a guardian or intend to harm an innocent to pass the threshold. She smiled, "How many tries before they took a hint." Tiberius came and spoke in a language that she understood. The two spoke while I took the Grimoire back to the attic. As I walked back down the stairs Obedeah and Atticus came to tell me that the portal to Yami had opened. Someone from this side has decided to disrupt the peace. I asked them to find the caster as I was told to change into something appropriate. I asked if I should wear the samurai or ninja outfit. One shouted samurai and the other whispered ninja. They looked at each other and then Atticus asked for the ninja outfit while Obedeah asked for the samurai. I lowered my head. As they explained hastily about having opposite ideas. I put on the ninja outfit and my mother asked me why I wore it. I explained that I use shadows as a portal and have invisibility as a tactical advantage. I asked for the shotgun and was told that it was being serviced. I will get it next week. I got the stringless bow. I waved my hand and a gold string appeared.

I touched the wall and asked them to open the appropriate frame. A two foot silver picture frame with a skeletal decoration opened. I saw a dragon. An actual dragon. The black scaled beast was flying high above trying to find a way to get out. It was hitting a barrier which prevented it from leaving. I wedged the bow between two trees and stroked the string. A large iron arrow about three feet long appeared. I took a deep breath and tried to aim. It was moving all over. I asked Atticus to create a distraction. He did and it charged at us. I fired the arrow and it knocked off a few scales as it landed with its claws facing towards the sky. I took a deep breath and fired again. The arrow hit it in the chest and it writhed in pain before dying. The caster screamed in pain and charged at me with a dagger. Mother intervened and she was infuriated. She had a lot of anger and there was no one to point at it. The witch dissolved into a pool of blood as the portal closed. She saw the inside and was very upset. She knew this prison. It wasn't her's. But she has placed people here. She roared with fury and walked off to find a portal back to her kingdom. I asked my mother if she would come back for dinner. She gave me a smile, "I wouldn't miss it for the world. First I have some unfinished business to attend to." I took her to the back garden and cut my palm. I rubbed it on the barks of the portal and the trees began to bleed. I told her to think of her kingdom and she should be able to walk through. She needed to be clear about a person or a place. It will take her there. She smiled as she glided through. I heard a distinct laugh before it was swallowed.
