MHGA Chapter 278: Joseph, Swept Along by the Atmosphere
As Joseph's family and companions anxiously awaited the final outcome of the battle, they couldn't help but worry about the possible deaths of Joseph and Caesr.
Fortunately, someone soon noticed the fighter plane returning from the horizon.
"That's the plane Joseph and the others flew out in!" Smokey pointed to the sky and shouted, "Is it Joseph? Are they coming back?!"
At that moment, Lisa Lisa, still bearing the injuries caused by Kars, forced herself to stand upright.
"Don't lower your guard. If it's Kars…"
"Hey!!!!!!!! HELLO, EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!"
But just then, a completely unfamiliar head popped out of the fighter plane—
A cheerful stranger waved enthusiastically at the people on the ground below.
"??????"
Lisa Lisa, the Ripple master of Joseph and Caesr, Smokey, Speedwagon, Stroheim—
All of them stared in stunned silence at the face of the unfamiliar Asian man.
Who are you?
Where's Joseph? Where's Caesr? What happened to Kars?!
What's the final outcome of the battle?!
"What are you greeting them for?! No one here even knows who you are!!!"
Joseph shouted, squirming out of the fighter's window.
He yelled down at his family and friends with all his might:
"We won!! We're back!!"
Upon hearing Joseph's voice, his loved ones finally let out a breath of relief—
Some were even moved to tears.
But at that moment, Joseph noticed something strange about Caesr's expression—he looked stiff.
"Hmm?" Joseph patted Caesr on the shoulder. "What's wrong? We're landing."
"Putting aside whether I've even learned how to land yet…" Caesr's voice was awkward.
"Joseph… this gauge here—is it saying the plane's completely out of fuel…?"
And right on cue, the engines on both sides of the fighter sputtered and died—
Having fulfilled their noble mission, they honorably retired… to Cybertron.
With the engines dead and Caesr's inexperience, the fighter began to plummet toward the ground.
"OH! MY! GOD!!! Why does something always go wrong at a time like this!!!"
Joseph screamed, covering his face. "Unbelievable!"
Kairo Retsu shouted,
"Goddammit! I knew I shouldn't have gotten in a vehicle with you!
Even after winning the fight, your 'vehicle killer' curse is still active, you bastard!"
"Now's not the time! What do we do?! No, what do I do?!"
Caesr was visibly panicking. "I really can't come back to life!!"
Their family and friends then watched in horror—
As the old fighter plane swept over their heads…
And crash-landed into an ancient building nearby, exploding in a massive fireball.
"Joseph!!!" Speedwagon cried out.
"No! Not again! That boy…
Are all Joestars cursed to die young?!
How can I face Mr. Jonathan…?"
Lisa Lisa nearly collapsed on the spot, nearly fainting from the explosion.
"Cough cough cough cough—"
Right then, from within the explosion—
Kairo Retsu and Joseph emerged, one on each side, dragging a charred but alive Caesr between them.
"This is all your fault! You definitely touched the plane and cursed it with that vehicle killer Stand of yours!!"
"Don't be ridiculous! My Stand is Hermit Purple! It's not some kind of vehicle killer!!"
Kairo and Joseph yelled at each other loudly.
After so many emotional highs and lows, no one around them had any idea how to respond to the heroic return of the three.
Eventually… it was Caesr who calmed everyone down enough for Lisa Lisa and the others to breathe easy.
"So… this Mr. Kairo Retsu, he's from… another world?"
Lisa Lisa looked confusedly at the youthful Kairo.
"He's the Guildmaster of a Hunter's Assembly… and Joseph, you joined that Assembly?"
"Lisa Lisa-sensei… are you really Joseph's mother?"
Caesr asked awkwardly. "Joseph told me…"
"?! How did you find out…? Wait—Joseph, how did you know?!"
Lisa Lisa froze, then clutched her temples.
Today had been…
A little too much.
Lisa Lisa had no idea how to process it all.
In the end, she turned to Joseph, silently begging for a full explanation.
Everyone here now—
Lisa Lisa, Speedwagon, Caesr, and Kairo—
Were Joseph's most trusted companions.
So Joseph didn't hide anything.
He explained everything he had experienced in recent times.
"Slaying demons? Saving worlds?"
Speedwagon was moved.
"As expected of Mr. Jonathan's grandson."
"Stand abilities? Dragon hunting? Dragons??"
Caesr's confusion only deepened.
Lisa Lisa, however, noticed something important.
Joseph—during his time with the Assembly—
Had actually been training across different worlds.
No wonder after his last special training session, his strength had grown so terrifyingly fast.
Beyond his innate talent… it was the accumulation of constant practice.
Lisa Lisa wanted to say "You've worked hard" as a mother.
But when the words reached her lips, she remembered how absent she'd been since Joseph's birth—
And fell silent.
The awkwardness was finally broken by Kairo Retsu:
"Don't worry, Lisa Lisa ma'am.
As Guildmaster, I'll look after Joseph properly.
He's a full-fledged Hunter now."
"Me and Joseph? We're like brothers!
Trust me!"
Kairo pounded his chest.
"But…"
Lisa Lisa suddenly thought of something.
"How did the Hunters even know what was happening in this world?"
"I'll explain."
Joseph quickly relayed the story of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure to the others—
Then hesitated before saying:
"If you want…
Speedwagon, Caesr, and…"
Joseph hesitated again before squeezing out, "Lisa Lisa…"
"If you want, you can read JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
You'll also see stories from my grandfather's time.
And mine too."
"Really!"
Lisa Lisa smiled, glad to have something to connect with her son:
"Then… let's read it while we rest."
Joseph nodded.
But he had completely forgotten something very important—
That JoJo's Bizarre Adventure didn't just include his heroic defeat of Kars…
It also included…
His blackmail-tier history as the "Tequila Girl" and the infamous "keyhole spying on mom" incident.
