MHGA Chapter 279: Joseph's Watch Party!
Cough cough cough…
After confirming Kars had truly been defeated, Kairo Retsu followed Joseph all the way to the United States, where he met Erina—Jonathan Joestar's beloved, the woman who had chosen to wash her mouth with muddy water rather than accept Dio's kiss…
"Hello, hello! I'm Kairo Retsu, Guildmaster of the Hunter's Assembly that Joseph is now a part of! Ms. Erina! I'm your fan!"
Kairo enthusiastically grabbed Erina's hand and shook it vigorously.
"And Big Jo—uh, Jonathan! I know all about him too! I'm a huge fan of his as well!"
Erina was somewhat bewildered by Kairo's sudden passion, and glanced toward Joseph and Lisa Lisa behind him with a helpless look.
Joseph awkwardly looked away, and Lisa Lisa covered her face, unsure of what to say.
"Um… Guildmaster, sir… You look so young. You know about Jonathan?"
Erina said hesitantly.
"And earlier… Joseph said he gathered us all here for something—what exactly is this about?"
Not long ago, Erina and several others had been invited to a room with a projection screen.
They had heard news that Joseph had defeated the source of the vampire scourge—
But the sudden appearance of this "Guildmaster Kairo" and Joseph's mention of an explanation left Erina feeling confused.
Now, everyone connected to the Joestar family who could come was gathered here:
Speedwagon, Erina Joestar, Lisa Lisa, Caesr, Stroheim…
"It's because I wanted to explain everything Joseph has changed in this world since joining us—
And some unusual circumstances that Ms. Lisa Lisa and Caesr surely want answers for."
Kairo pulled a projector from his backpack and a USB drive from his other hand.
"I've rewatched JoJo's Bizarre Adventure so many times… I remember every iconic line!"
"Joseph! I reject my humanity, JoJo!"
Kairo grinned.
"And one more thing—as Guildmaster of the Hunter's Assembly, I have a duty to inform you all…
Joseph joined a legitimate organization! We do real work! We're not evil!"
"Guildmaster! Enough!" Joseph interrupted.
"Just play it already. Caesr and Lisa Lisa have been grilling me for days—I can't hold out anymore…"
"Alright then, everyone take your seats. This whole story begins… on a rainy day."
Kairo started the projector, casting the story onto the movie screen.
Even through the boundary between dimensions—
Erina instantly recognized the blue-haired gentleman with a mustache on screen: George Joestar, Jonathan's father.
For the next few hours, everyone in the room watched Parts 1 and 2 of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure from start to finish.
At a key moment, Kairo stealthily slipped a note to Caesr.
Though confused at first, Caesr read it—
It said:
"When I act, help me pin Joseph down."
Caesr hesitated—
But then on screen, Joseph began infiltrating the German base to rescue Speedwagon.
Joseph's expression changed, and he moved to shut off the projector—
But Kairo leapt at him and pinned him to the floor.
Still confused but sensing something important, Caesr used Ripple and helped restrain Joseph.
Joseph's expression turned to despair:
"No!!! Kairo Retsu! You set me up!!"
"Hahahahaha!! Joseph! You only realized it now? This is all your own fault!!"
Kairo laughed maniacally.
And then—
There she was on screen: Joseph in drag, heavily made up and carrying tequila—the infamous "Tequila Girl".
At the sight of it, Erina, Speedwagon, and Lisa Lisa began to suspect…
Had Joseph developed some sort of peculiar interest over the years…?
Caesr turned sharply away, burying his face to stifle laughter.
"Don't struggle! Don't forget what's coming next…"
Kairo leered.
"No! That never happened here! That's something from the original timeline!!"
Joseph thrashed, but Kairo and Caesr held him firmly in place.
Everything that followed—
Joseph's clever battles, his fearless courage, his reckless devotion…
And his keyhole-peeping moment—
All of it played out in full on the screen.
Pinned to the floor, Joseph's face had turned ashen gray.
He was completely limp, no strength left to resist.
But then, after watching the full story—
When the screen stopped on an elderly Joseph standing at a Japanese airport, saying he was going to visit his grandson—
The entire room fell silent.
"Joseph…"
Caesr held Joseph's hand.
After thinking for a long time, he finally said:
"Thank you."
No one in the room had expected the original future to be like this.
The most affected were Lisa Lisa—and Caesr, who should have died.
"Because of the difference between worlds, in your world…
'Fate' is something that truly exists."
Kairo opened his hands and explained:
"Just like in the 'Rolling Stones' arc… You probably don't know what that is, so I'll explain."
"Fate exists. You can choose to accept it, die by it, or rebel against it…
But resisting it brings backlash—and may cause even greater tragedy."
Kairo continued:
"Changing Caesr's fate didn't mean Joseph truly defeated destiny.
What we did was… find a loophole to pay the price of fate's backlash in his place."
Hearing this, Caesr instantly understood—
Why Joseph and Kairo had thrown themselves into the magma over and over again, dragging Kars back down each time.
Realizing Joseph had gone to such lengths for him, Caesr felt a pang of guilt deep in his heart.
"So… that's how it was…"
Erina looked at her grandson—but rather than relief, she turned to Kairo and asked:
"Mr. Kairo… If that's the case, can you tell us what's still to come?"
"Grandma Erina?!"
Joseph was stunned.
"How did you know—"
"I know Joseph's nature.
If he looks so gloomy even after resolving something this serious…
Then something else must be weighing on him."
Erina smiled gently.
"After all… he's my grandson."
"No need to worry."
Kairo shook his head with a smile.
"Those problems lie decades in the future.
And before that—Joseph will only grow stronger."
"We have plenty of time to find a way to change fate again.
I guarantee it as Guildmaster.
And as Guildmaster, I also have a request."
"As Joseph's family, friends, and loved ones—
Please continue to support him on his journey as a Hunter."
Kairo grinned brightly.
"That's the truest wish our Hunter's Assembly has for every Hunter."
"Alright."
Erina smiled and gently reached out to ruffle Joseph's hair—
A face nearly identical to Jonathan's.
"Joseph…
You've found some truly wonderful companions."
