MHGA Chapter 286 – A New Hunter Is Coming

"It's truly unbelievable. There really don't seem to be any aftereffects or mutations."

After being solemnly received back into the city as a benefactor by the City Lord, Frieren carefully examined Himmel's body.

There were no traces of magical corruption, nor any curses of demonic origin.

Even after Frieren and Himmel reminisced about past events, Himmel could answer everything perfectly.

Later, the current members of Frieren's party also seriously listened to the explanation regarding Kairo Retsu.

Now, everyone related to this incident was seated in the reception room, discussing the recent events.

Present were the City Lord, Frieren, Stark, Fern, Kairo Retsu, the Silly Cat, and the City Lord's son who had been resurrected by Aqua.

As for Aqua… after enjoying the City Lord's enthusiastic hospitality for about half an hour, she was forcibly dragged back to her own world by Kazuma to go on an adventure. Apparently, the city's sewers needed purification or something, so Aqua, as a humanoid bar of soap, was deemed perfect for the job...

And because Kazuma had learned that Aqua had been spreading the Axis Order in this world, he didn't even dare meet the City Lord's gaze and fled in a panic.

After that, Frieren began the examination of Himmel's body.

"So, Himmel came back to life because he became one of those 'Hunters' you spoke of?" Although Frieren had already grasped the situation, she still looked puzzled. "If I hadn't seen someone resurrected with my own eyes, I'd find it very hard to believe something like this actually exists…"

"But to rejuvenate just from eating Felyne Meal... What exactly is Felyne Meal?" Frieren asked.

"Felyne Meal is... well, the meal we Hunters eat before we go out hunting." Kairo Retsu scratched his head. "But it's mainly about the quality of the ingredients. I can show you!"

Then, Kairo Retsu set up his barbecue grill right inside the City Lord's residence. He pulled out raw meat taken from an Aptonoth from his dimensional po—er, backpack, and placed it directly on the grill in front of everyone.

"Heh heh heh…" Kairo Retsu lit the fire with practiced ease, and to everyone's shock, a rousing melody began playing from seemingly nowhere, filling the air and affecting their minds. Kairo Retsu began rotating the spit in rhythm with the music.

At the precise moment the meat's texture reached its peak, Kairo Retsu grabbed the bone and lifted the entire slab of meat high: "It's grilled!"

"Ohhh! What a bold and rugged style of grilling." Frieren applauded in appreciation.

After all, it was the first time she had seen such a massive piece of raw meat grilled in under a minute.

"Grilled meat is a unique Hunter skill! You must try it!" Kairo Retsu rubbed his nose with pride. "Want a taste? The flavor is amazing."

He raised the grilled meat in front of the others. But looking at the meat—which resembled a massive hammer—and considering the suspiciously short cooking time accompanied by that music, everyone present seriously doubted whether the meat was even fully cooked.

"Stark, you're a warrior, right? Warriors are supposed to eat heartily! Come on! Eat meat with the wild spirit of a Hunter!" Kairo Retsu locked onto Stark, shoving the meat right in front of his face.

"Ah… Fern, help me…" Stark looked like he was about to cry, but when he turned his head, he found that Fern had coldly abandoned him. She had even moved her seat a little farther away, seemingly afraid of being implicated.

"How many days would that grilled meat last you Hunters?" Frieren looked curiously at the hunk of meat in Kairo Retsu's hand.

That meat had a thick bone from a creature Frieren had never seen before. The whole thing—bone and meat—must have weighed at least several dozen pounds...

"...Days?" Kairo Retsu scratched his head.

To Hunters, grilled meat is something you just gnaw on during a hunt to recover stamina. Counting it in days?

Seeing that no one was going to eat his meat, Kairo Retsu sighed and, right in front of everyone, spent just a few seconds devouring the entire slab. All that was left was a giant bone that looked like it could be used as a baseball bat…

"Tasty~" Kairo Retsu picked some meat fibers from his teeth and smacked his lips, preparing to get down to business.

"That's pretty much the situation. Now, the matter of Himmel."

Kairo Retsu spoke with heartfelt sincerity to Frieren: "Please, let us borrow Himmel to help save the world! Our Gathering Hall really needs a Celestial Sage like Himmel… If possible, Lady Frieren, could you also help save our otherworld?"

"Hmm?" Frieren raised her brow slightly. "Shouldn't Himmel's decision be left to Himmel himself? And… I don't think I have any particular reason to save another world."

She shook her head gently, clearly about to reject Kairo Retsu, when—

"We can offer you otherworldly magic as compensation!!" Kairo Retsu raised a finger.

"Eh…" Frieren suddenly hesitated.

"And Himmel can bring back Felyne Meal and snacks personally prepared by Granny Felyne! We'll cover all your food expenses at the Gathering Hall!!"

"Deal." Frieren ultimately gave in to temptation and agreed to Kairo Retsu's proposal.

Kairo Retsu shot Himmel a knowing look.

After a bit more chatting, Kairo Retsu stood up, preparing to leave with the Silly Cat. Himmel also stood to see him off.

"Himmel, do your best out there." Kairo Retsu solemnly placed both hands on Himmel's shoulders.

Frieren was clearly still emotionally reserved. For her to truly understand feelings and relationships, it was unclear how much more effort Himmel would need to put in.

"It's okay. I'll help Frieren come to understand such things, little by little." Himmel smiled. "She still has plenty of time…"

"DAMMIT! I don't have that kind of time!" Kairo Retsu's eyes blazed. "Can you hurry up and get into a relationship already!? Just look at David! He's already won the girl!"

"Hurry up and fall in love, you moron!" Kairo Retsu shouted at Himmel. "You're way too reserved!"

"I… I'll do my best." Himmel showed a slightly bashful expression, then began chatting with Kairo Retsu about the Gathering Hall.

"The Hunters in the Gathering Hall should be just about ready to begin full-fledged monster hunts in the wild, right?" Himmel looked at Kairo Retsu with some curiosity. "Will it be in time before the next mission?"

"It should… be in time," Kairo Retsu replied. "Besides, Granny Felyne told me that in just a few days, new Hunters will be arriving at the Gathering Hall."

"This time's new Hunters… are all really cute girls." Kairo Retsu wore a solemn expression. "I need to find a way to… humanely eliminate Kazuma before they get here. Just in case."
