MHGA Chapter 285 – The Axis Order Pollutes Another World!

"Ughhh…"

Kairo Retsu had thought he'd built up a decent resistance to modes of transport.

After all, he'd ridden dragons, Joseph's car, and even been carted around in a Palico cart before.

But right now, he had to give Stark a failing grade.

This human "ride" was just too awful—his poor silly cat was completely motion-sick.

"Hmm…?"

Aqua, still tipsy after unleashing her Holy Purification, rubbed her eyes. "The evil aura… feels like it's gone… Is it over?"

She didn't notice Stark and Fern, who had just arrived via flight magic, staring at her like she was some kind of monster.

That… that was a purification spell?

A single move had purified the entire undead army. And she was calling that purification magic?

"Aqua! You can't fall asleep yet! We're not done here!" Kairo Retsu rushed up to shake Aqua by the shoulders as she began to slump again.

When shaking didn't work, Kairo Retsu had a sudden flash of inspiration.

"Aqua! Kazuma sold all the cabbage he took from the Hub and used the money to go drink bubble wine and eat high-class steak—without you!"

"WHAT?! That scumbag Kazuma!!" Aqua sprang out of her stupor like lightning, and then looked around, confused by the pile of headless corpses around her.

"Huh? When did I get here? Is it over already?" Aqua blinked, utterly lost.

Meanwhile, something unexpected was happening on Frieren and Himmel's side, just after they'd defeated Aura.

As soon as it was over, Frieren calmly pointed her staff at Himmel. Her expression remained unchanged. "Stop. Don't move."

Himmel immediately raised his hands in surrender, a wry, bittersweet smile on his face.

He was happy that Frieren remained cautious. But also helpless—he had expected this much.

"Frieren! What are you doing?!" Stark shouted when he saw the murder-spell glow gathering on Frieren's staff. "This guy just helped us beat the demon—"

Before Stark could finish, Fern bopped him on the head with her staff.

"Lord Stark, haven't you noticed? You saw all those statues on the way here."

"Statues?" Stark blinked blankly, staring at Himmel for a moment… then realization struck. "He looks exactly like Hero Himmel's statue!"

"Right? I left those behind all along my travels," Himmel said with a smile, as if he weren't currently being targeted by Frieren's magic.

"Himmel?" Frieren tilted her head, studying the blue-haired youth in front of her, weighing whether this was truly the real Himmel.

Logically, Frieren knew that Himmel had died decades ago. But this young man in front of her—she couldn't find a single trace of falseness.

It was like the Himmel of the past had traveled forward in time and now stood before her.

Was it someone's magic? Or maybe some new demon illusion?

There were too many possibilities. That's why Frieren still held her staff at the ready.

"Aqua! Heal them already!"

Kairo Retsu saw that Himmel was in a bit of a tough spot, so he shook Aqua urgently: "Use your unbeatable Resurrection magic, goddess-style!"

"No need to rush~ There aren't any Celestial Realm restrictions here, and their souls are still in their bodies." Aqua, now a little more sober, casually said, "Resurrection is simple! You just go… like this! Hup—!"

With a flick of her hand, the corpses in front of her grew new heads, and now stood in confusion, clad in armor, staring at the glowing blue-haired goddess.

"In the name of the Axis Order, I commend your efforts! Now smile for me!" Aqua seized the moment to begin proselytizing to the soldiers: "Join now and get a free Purification spell!"

"Huh?" one of the resurrected soldiers muttered in confusion.

"D-Dead people just grew their heads back…!" Stark was so stunned he could barely speak.

Frieren, glancing over her shoulder, saw what was happening and her eyes widened. She turned back to glare at Himmel.

"Stop trying to convert them! Kazuma will give you a serious scolding if he finds out…" Kairo Retsu quickly tried to halt Aqua's evangelizing, pushing her along to keep reviving the soldiers Aura had killed.

But no matter how hard Kairo Retsu tried to stop them, the miracle of resurrection was too powerful. Several soldiers broke down crying and joined the Axis Order on the spot, dropping to their knees before Aqua and reciting the tenets of the cult—

"Eris pads her chest!! Eris pads her chest!!"

Hearing the chorus of voices shouting that phrase, Kairo Retsu suddenly began to doubt whether calling Aqua here had permanently damaged the tone of Frieren and Himmel's world…

"Guildmaster. Could you explain now?" Himmel, still holding his hands up, called out toward Kairo Retsu.

Kairo Retsu quickly walked over to Frieren and stood before the millennium-old mage.

"Nice to meet you, Frieren."

Kairo Retsu flashed a big grin. "I'm Kairo Retsu, Guildmaster of the Monster Hunter Gathering Hub! I'm technically Himmel's boss right now."

"So… Himmel was revived that way too?" Frieren glanced at the crowd now chanting the Axis Order Doctrine, looking more and more like a cult. "I thought you were all part of the Axis Order."

"Don't slander me!" Kairo Retsu exclaimed, eyes wide. "I'm a normal person! Who're you calling Axis Order?!"

"Frieren."

Seeing that Frieren had finally begun to believe he was really himself, Himmel also spoke, smiling gently: "If you want the full explanation… it'll take a while."

"But first, the city's soldiers are on their way. We should clarify things with them." Himmel raised his head toward the direction of the city.

At that moment, the nobles of the city had arrived with the guards. What they saw… was their long-deceased son and fellow soldiers, standing there alive and breathing.

"O goddess… Is this… a miracle?"
