MHGA Chapter 389: The Coming Storm

The unusual occurrences in Mitakihara City quickly attracted the attention of the Kyubeys.

Numerous Kyubeys were directly killed by attacks from unknown sources, causing the Incubators to gradually lose control of Mitakihara City.

When the Incubators prepared to dispatch additional Kyubeys into the city, they discovered a massive barrier enveloping Mitakihara City, gradually expanding outward and preventing their entry.

Despite their confusion, the Kyubeys keenly noticed a crucial fact: this enormous "barrier" covering Mitakihara City consisted of an unknown yet powerful energy.

The density and intensity of this energy were unprecedented in their prior observations of Mitakihara City. Furthermore, they determined the energy's origin seemed to lie at the city's very center.

The unknown yet powerful energy emanating outward deeply intrigued the Kyubeys, prompting them to take further actions regarding Mitakihara City.

In the Kyubeys' assessment, investigating the source of this unknown energy could yield energy comparable to, or even exceeding, that produced by this planet's Magical Girls.

Thus, Kyubeys surrounding Mitakihara City quickly located Magical Girls capable of swiftly reaching the city, sending them to investigate the situation.

Additionally, the Kyubeys re-infused collected Grief Seeds with despair, releasing these reborn Witches around Mitakihara City.

However…

As the Witches unleashed by the Kyubeys began moving toward Mitakihara City, a blue-haired youth silently stood before them, calmly facing the numerous Witches.

Each Witch had once represented a girl who made a wish but fell into despair through Kyubey's deceit.

"…"

Himmel said nothing, quietly watching the distorted and varied forms of the Witches, tightening his grip on the Hero's Sword.

Himmel suddenly remembered.

In his world, the demons were similarly creatures incapable of comprehending human emotions.

Thus, Himmel felt anger.

..................

After several hours of combat, the hunters briefly gathered to exchange their current statuses.

After prolonged battles, the hunters had defeated numerous Witches, each bringing back several Grief Seeds.

Even Shirou, primarily responsible for eliminating Kyubeys, returned with three Grief Seeds.

Kazuma, however, smugly produced a large bag, proudly stating with hands on hips: "Hmph! As expected, it's me, Kazuma! This time, I'm the MVP!"

Kazuma's bag contained significantly more Grief Seeds than the others.

"Kazuma-san, you're really impressive," Tanjiro sincerely praised Kazuma, reflecting simultaneously, "It's a shame Transparent World doesn't work as effectively on Witches…"

"Kazuma defeated the most Witches?" Kairo Retsu skeptically glanced at Kazuma.

Kazuma? The Kazuma who preferred lying prone with his bow? The Kazuma least fond of direct combat among the hunters?

"What's with that look! Kazuma-san will get hurt, you know!" Kazuma indignantly retorted, "This merely shows a tiny part of my hidden strength…"

"No matter the method, as long as the result is good," Himmel's voice appeared beside the hunters, sounding slightly weary.

Seeing Himmel arrive, Kairo Retsu agreed, "You're right, the result matters most."

However, Kairo Retsu noticed Himmel's exhaustion: "Himmel, are you… alright?"

Kairo Retsu soon noticed Himmel's enormous bag, which Himmel gently placed before him, far larger than Kazuma's: "These are all Grief Seeds."

"Will these girls truly be saved?" Himmel stared deeply at Kairo Retsu.

When Himmel opened his bag, a small mountain of Grief Seeds piled up before Kairo Retsu, their dark colors suffocating to behold.

Though the Grief Seeds resembled decorative gems, hunters fully understood their significance.

Each Grief Seed in this small mountain represented a once-living girl who became a Magical Girl, carrying hope and wishes.

"I'll stop all Witches outside Mitakihara City," Himmel declared, "I'll clear a path for you, as long as… the children of this world can be saved."

"Rest assured."

Kairo Retsu responded resolutely, "They will be saved; that's the reason we hunters exist."

Having said this, Kairo Retsu raised his head toward the sky.

Though the magical Dungeon couldn't be seen clearly with naked eyes, Kairo Retsu noticed the previously clear sky gradually filling with clouds.

"There's no reason hope, courage, or salvation require equivalent exchange," Kairo Retsu declared, "We hunters aren't so petty to withhold our help."

"Next is the confrontation with the Incubators," Kairo Retsu grinned, "Let's eliminate both Walpurgisnacht and Shagaru Magala. Finally… we'll save every Magical Girl who deserves salvation."

"I'll patrol with my Sandevistan," David offered.

"I'll help restrain the Magical Girls brought by the Kyubeys!" Tanjiro confidently added.

Without hesitation, after exchanging some information, the hunters once again departed toward the Dungeon boundary to protect Mitakihara City.

Once the hunters left, Winged Lion appeared beside Kairo Retsu, remarking, "A powerful force is gradually appearing; it must be Walpurgisnacht."

"You've noticed it too, haven't you? The weather is changing," Winged Lion reminded him, "but you still haven't found any traces of Shagaru Magala."

"…It seems Shagaru Magala isn't hiding in Mitakihara City," Kairo Retsu sighed thoughtfully, "but its goal should be Walpurgisnacht. If only… the battle weren't in the city."

"If we didn't have to consider the city's safety, we could watch Shagaru Magala and Walpurgisnacht fight to the death. Unfortunately, that's impossible now."

"Protecting the city sure is troublesome."
