The next morning, his mom and dad carried the gifts Jason had bought—good wine, premium cigarettes, and other supplements—and went door to door visiting his uncle, third uncle, aunt, maternal uncle, paternal aunt, and every other relative worth greeting.
Every house they visited lit up with smiles.Jason's parents basked in the attention—this was the most face they had gained in years.
Of course, Jason also clearly understood what this meant:
Sooner or later, someone would borrow money.
But it didn't bother him.
Most of his relatives were decent people—not the parasitic kind.He had already mentally prepared one million dollars specifically for relatives:
If they borrowed and never returned it → no second chance.
If they struggled but tried to return it → he wouldn't make them repay.
That was how he planned to evaluate character…and leave the rest to his parents. With money, he no longer needed to tiptoe around social situations.
Task Six had begun.
Five billion simp fund.A long, ridiculous, soul-draining road.
But there was no rush.
His first objective was simple:
Find a place in the City with the highest spiritual energy and set up the first Energy Gathering Sub-Array—so his parents could grow healthier day by day—and so he himself could absorb gathered energy whenever he returned home.
While his parents continued making their rounds, Jason slipped away and began scouting locations.
He activated the Spirit Gathering Array exactly as the system instructed.Once the Mother-Array in his body was paired with a Sub-Array, it could directly detect the energy concentration of any location.
Jason drove slowly through, as prompts chimed in his ears:
"Spiritual energy: 0.1 — Not recommended.""Spiritual energy: 0.15 — Not recommended.""Spiritual energy: 0.2 — Not recommended…"
After circling the town, he concluded with disappointment:
The entire place was spiritually barren.
So he expanded his route, driving farther out toward town—but the results were still dismal.
Jason wasn't about to move his parents to some random unfamiliar town. That would defeat the purpose.
Which meant—the city was his next goal.
The town was only seven or eight kilometers from City anyway.Urban life would be convenient, and he could build a sub-array villa there.
But checking every neighborhood in the entire city manually would take hours.
So Jason decided to narrow down the search.
He opened his senior year high school class group chat and typed:
Jason: "I'm planning to buy a house. Which areas in the City have good air, peaceful surroundings, and feel comfortable to live in? Any recommendations?"
His classmates didn't know anything about spiritual energy, but anywhere with high energy would also feel good for normal people.
Immediately, messages rolled in.
Rick:
"Jason! You're back?? Dude, home prices have been dropping lately—don't rush to buy. Money's tight everywhere. Saving is safer.
I'm on break too, come to the city tomorrow! It's been forever. We're all planning a meetup."
Rick was one of Jason's best friends in high school. But Jason hadn't told him anything about his current wealth or life.
Then suddenly—
Natasha @Jason:
"Using real estate to dodge bankruptcy and debt is not recommended."
The group chat froze.
Everyone in the class stared at her message—completely confused.
Even Jason blinked.
He remembered Natasha very clearly.
The girl was a top student, always ranked top three in the entire school. She had once confessed to him… in a way only she could:
She arranged his entire future schedule.
She demanded he attend tutoring with her every weekend.
She insisted they get into the same university.
She planned everything with military precision.
Jason had felt suffocated just listening to her plan.So he rejected her politely, and after graduation, they drifted apart.
He never expected her to @him now.
Nor did he expect her to sound like she already knew about the fake bankruptcy rumors.
Jason rubbed his temples.
This was going to get annoying.
"Ha… she really knows about that fake bankruptcy rumor?"Jason Carter stared at the group chat, amused."Still the same Natasha always lecturing, always acting like she's everyone's financial advisor."
He didn't bother replying.
Just then, a notification popped up—
Amelia @Jason @Tanya Covell:
"Jason, Tanya's mom works in real estate. If you're buying a house, she might be able to help!"
Amelia was both a high school classmate and part of the University Town hometown group. He had attended the last alumni meetup, which was why he naturally connected both groups.
But Amelia lived in his own quiet bubble and didn't keep up with gossip. So he had no idea that Tanya Covell's attitude toward Jason had made a complete 180 ever since she read the fake bankruptcy post.
Tanya replied almost instantly—far too quickly, almost panicked:
Tanya: "Sorry, my mom's insanely busy these days. She really won't have time. And I don't feel comfortable interfering with her work."
Amelia frowned behind his screen.
Busy?A client literally asking to buy a house—and a local real-estate agent didn't have time?
Even if Jason were poor, Tanya's response would make sense… she was the prettiest girl in their grade, after all—aloofness came with the territory.
But Amelia had witnessed firsthand at the alumni gathering how Tanya practically glowed in Jason's presence—how she tried to sit near him, how she adjusted her hair every few seconds, how her tone softened whenever she spoke to him.
So why this sudden indifference?
Amelia @Tanya:
"Tanya, aren't you also back in town? Why not just take Jason to look at houses yourself?"
Amelia meant well—she was simply matchmaking, assuming Tanya still wanted Jason. She had also witnessed Jason's display of wealth last time and thought Tanya was lucky.
But Tanya immediately refused:
Tanya: "I was going to go home, but something came up. I'm not able to right now."
Amelia quietly messaged her:
Amelia: "Girl, what are you doing??This is a golden chance!Even if you're not home, get a ticket and fly back ASAP!"
Tanya replied with the confidence of a woman who believed she had escaped disaster:
Tanya: "Look at this—"
She forwarded the fake bankruptcy post.
Tanya: "I'm not getting tied up with someone drowning in debt. He's probably buying a house to hide assets. And if anything blows up, it'll drag my parents down too.Not worth it."
Amelia's jaw dropped.
Amelia: "Are you serious…?At the alumni meetup, he completely shattered my worldview.I thought, 'We actually have a super-rich classmate.'And now he's allegedly bankrupt? You dodged a bullet by not agreeing to meet him last time…"
Tanya typed smugly:
Tanya: "Exactly. I actually did go home, but I didn't say it in the group. I'm hanging out with Louise today—wanna join? His family bought a villa in Lake Bay Park One Residence. He's taking me to see it."
Amelia's eyes widened.
Amelia: "Lake Bay Park One Residence!?That's the most expensive neighborhood in the City! Even in a whole county, a villa there is over a million dollars! the environment, the lakeside view, the greenery—incredible.
Louise's family is loaded…If you can get him, your future is set."
Tanya replied coolly:
Tanya: "I'll see how it goes."
Meanwhile, in the hometown group—
Ava Summers suddenly @Jason:
"Jason, I have a friend who skipped college and became a real-estate agent. She's trustworthy, and she knows the market well.I'll ask her to add you and help you look at houses!
I'll also be back home tomorrow. If you haven't decided yet, I'll go with you."
Jason replied:
"Alright, thank you."
Amelia, watching both groups, messaged Tanya privately again:
Amelia: "Wow… Ava's being unusually proactive. She always looks easygoing, but hardly anyone actually gets close to her.Didn't expect this."
Tanya snorted in reply:
Tanya: "What's surprising? That carefree persona is just for show.
She obviously has no idea Jason is supposedly going bankrupt. She probably thinks she still has a shot at marrying rich."
