The figure bore a striking resemblance to Sasrir, though he appeared younger, clad in a similarly ornate robe. His aura, however, was far weaker... almost imperceptible, with no discernible extraordinary traits.
The figure opened his eyes. After a fleeting moment of disorientation, a familiar glint appeared in his gaze. He looked at Alaric and said, "It's been a while, Your Excellency Lucifer. It seems the experiment was a success."
"So, you're also Sasrir?" Alaric asked, eyeing the youthful figure curiously. As the summoner, he could sense the other's strength was minimal, roughly at Sequence 9.
"I share the same consciousness as the main body. You can think of me as something akin to a Sealed Artifact," The younger Sasrir explained. "I don't possess an independent personality."
"Got it. So, Sasrir's basically dual-wielding two accounts now, right?" Alaric said, rubbing his chin.
"You could put it that way," Sasrir nodded.
"Doesn't that mean you'll be juggling two jobs from now on?" Alaric asked, his curiosity piqued. "Can your CPU handle that kind of multitasking?"
Sasrir's mouth twitched, and he gave a wry smile. "It's not simultaneous. I can't perceive the past me right now, so the two sides aren't in sync."
"That's a relief, but even so, you're still pulling double duty!" Alaric remarked with mock sympathy, before revealing his true intent. "Why not just jump ship and work for me full-time? One job's gotta be easier than two."
"..."
Was this recruitment pitch a bit too abrupt?
Sasrir gave Alaric a bemused look before responding diplomatically, "Thank you for the concern, but I'm not ready to fully switch sides just yet. And rest assured, I'm capable of handling both jobs without delaying your work."
"Fine, I'll ask again next time!" Alaric sighed, feigning disappointment.
Sasrir decided to steer the conversation to business. "In my current state, how long can I remain in the future?"
"Well, you can basically stay indefinitely! Sequence 9 is a negligible drain on me. Under normal circumstances, my spirituality recovers naturally, and right now, the consumption and recovery are balanced," Alaric said, rubbing his chin. He looked at Sasrir with a grin. "Congratulations, Sasrir! You've successfully achieved resurrection in this era!"
Sasrir let out a relieved breath, then looked at Alaric with a teasing yet resigned tone. "The 24-hour work kind of resurrection?"
"No way! I'm humane. I'd never make you work 24 hours straight!" Alaric declared righteously.
"Then how many hours a day am I working?" Sasrir asked, eyeing him.
"Uh, that depends on the workload. Our hours are pretty flexible…" Alaric blinked, launching into a string of corporate jargon.
Sasrir shook his head with a helpless smile. "Don't worry, I'm mentally prepared. What do I need to do now?"
"Obviously, you're coming with me to save the Forsaken Land of the Gods," Alaric said, smiling. "I'm planning to bring out about two thousand people from City of Silver and Moon City today. Also, I'm going to scout the Forsaken Land for a suitable spot to build a biological laboratory."
Indeed, having fully digested the "Avatara" potion, Alaric was ready to perform the Playwright advancement ritual and consume the potion to ascend to Sequence 5 "Playwright" Today.
The reason for choosing the Forsaken Land to build the biological laboratory was twofold: first, to avoid interference from the Mother Goddess of Depravity; second, because Alaric had realized the Forsaken Land was an ideal location for such experiments. It was teeming with experimental materials, and since it was populated solely by monsters, any accidents wouldn't harm innocents.
Thus, Alaric had settled on establishing the lab in the Forsaken Land. With the True Creator and the Sun God around, accessing the area was convenient.
Sasrir paused at Alaric's words. He was aware of the situation with City of Silver and Moon City, and hearing that Alaric was finally bringing the first group out softened his gaze. He nodded. "Good."
"Then let's get going!" Alaric said with a smile, then turned to Adam. "You coming?"
Adam nodded without hesitation. "There might be something I can help with."
Alaric glanced at Medici, about to say something, but hesitated. "Red, you should probably stay behind. You've got a ton of work to handle…"
"..."
Medici's fists clenched!
"If you know I've got work piling up, then get lost!" Medici snapped, his expression sour.
"Don't be mad! I was kidding. The work can wait a bit. Come along if you want!" Alaric said with a cheeky grin. He could tell Medici wanted to join, likely for Sasrir's sake, or perhaps because Medici held some personal attachment to the two cities in the Forsaken Land.
After all, the Forsaken Land didn't just represent the past of the Sun God and others... it was Medici's past too.
Medici's expression softened slightly.
And so, the group set off, soon arriving near City of Silver in the Forsaken Land.
City of Silver had changed dramatically. Thanks to the artificial sun crafted by the Sun God, the area now boasted plants beyond just black-faced grass, including deliberately cultivated crops. On newly reclaimed fields, children played, and the city exuded a vibrant, thriving atmosphere.
Alaric and the others took in the scene as they approached the city walls. City of Silver had clearly been informed in advance, as a representative immediately came to greet them.
"Your Excellency Lucifer, everyone on the list is ready and can follow you to the new world at any time," The representative said after a respectful bow, their tone tinged with excitement and anticipation.
Though advance teams had brought back news of the outside world, and the mini-sun had greatly improved living conditions, no amount of news or better conditions could compare to actually leaving. The people of City of Silver had been trapped in this dark land for far too long. Every single one of them yearned for the outside world.
This wasn't just about wanting a better life... it was an obsession, shared by all of City of Silver's people.
Even if only a portion could leave this time, it was a monumental step... the first true step toward living in the outside world.
