Chapter 135 - Energy steroid 2.0

"How ridiculous! Creating something that kills whoever uses it, foolish and inefficient." he said with a disdainful scoff after I finished before staring at me with a hint of approval "At least you have some degree of sense. But the question is can you afford me?" he asked with narrowed eyes.

"I would certainly hope so. Fifteen thousand galleons now, thirty five thousand after success. A total of fifty thousand." I said confidently as I set the bag with the ingredients and funds down for him to check.

He quickly did before giving a small nod.

"So be it, begone now. I require focus." he said firmly and I nodded and left him to his work.

I let Whitebeard know that the energy steroids were being improved and should hopefully be ready before the day came for the war. In the mean time I focused on my studies and finally got the next level up to my {speed reading} skill. The improvement in speed from this was substantial. Not to the degree of being able to briefly glance at a page and read everything there but a couple of seconds per page was close enough.-

Despite my reading speed jumping forward so drastically that didn't mean I went through books so much faster. I had recently been delving into the higher end magical studies such as the fourth and beyond years after making it to the end of the third year curriculum. I was tempted to immediately go ask Flitwick for those alchemy lessons he'd promised but held off since I understood that just because I met the minimum requirement didn't mean it was the optimal time to pursue it. Alchemy was no doubt a deep and complex type of magic so I held off in favor of deepening my understanding of the various subjects involved beforehand.-

The third year subjects were much deeper than the first two years and the fourth year was deeper still. Mike and Terry stopped even trying to catch up to me once they learned I was now working on understanding fourth year magics. It was approaching the fourth month of our first year after all and I was already that many years ahead of almost everyone else. The only exception was Hermione who was sitting pretty at roughly second year and halfway through that to boot.-

The main difference between our learnings however wasn't just theory but practical power as well. Her spells while doing their jobs were stiff and rigid, like a machine almost. Her ability to use intent and will in her spell casting was flimsy at best because she was too controlled. Don't get me wrong she was impressive without a doubt and no one in the school didn't know it but she couldn't make her spells be more than the textbook yet. I on the otherhand cheated with haki letting me bolster spells with will and intent almost as easily as breathing.-

Snape didn't disappoint as five days after he got the initial payment and ingredients he summoned me to the dungeons. It was especially cold down here during the winter so even Snape who was fairly indifferent to the suffering of students had some extra torches and braziers lit to warm up the place a bit. Not that the cold bothered me as thanks to my lightning nature I was always warm. In fact I passively radiated warmth in my surroundings that was hard to ignore when everywhere else was chilled and freezing. -

I knocked on the door to the room Snape was in and once bid to enter did so. On the table at the center of the otherwise empty room was three things. The first was the ornate box that once held the energy steroids but was now empty. The second was a crate of bright red potion vials numbering close to seventy. The third confused me as it was yet another crate of potion vials but this time the potions within were a dark green color like stereotypical poison depictions. I could understand the empty box and potions made from the steroids and other ingredients but this extra potion confused me.-

"I admit I am rather confused professor, why are there two potions?" I asked curiously.

"This" he said pointing to the red potions "Is that brew crafted using that unusual medicine and supplementary ingredients. Entirely superior in every way. The gains are more potent and permanent and the cost to the drinker lessened to mere weeks shaved off the life rather than years. Your Re'em blood could be thanked for that more than anything." he said proudly.

"Very good! And the other?" I asked thrilled at that information.

"A facsimile of the original. I know not what ingredients those pills were made with and thus couldn't exactly replicate the effects. I was however able to craft a new recipe with lesser effects but far more suitable for consumption. It takes none of the bodies lifeforce but instead leaves the drinker in dire need of sustenance and lacking energy. Best paired with a nutrition potion." he explained especially proudly.

"That's incredible! You have more than earned your payment in my opinion." I said all smiles.

"I know. I expect the rest within the week. " he said before telling me to take the stuff and leave.

I stored the crates and box in a bag before heading back to the common room to test one of the potions for myself. Snape was even generous enough to leave the recipe for his own facsimile of the energy steroid potion in the crate with it. Honestly my mind was practically swimming at the sheer amount of profit that potion would bring me. It was an exceptional rapid growth supplement that given to the right people in the right worlds would allow instant improvement of their situations.
