"That's how Dumbledore almost meets his end in the original timeline in fact. He finds the stone coincidentally and gets cursed as his impulse to use it overwhelms him. Nasty business really." I say calmly.
"You are a seer?" he asked slightly surprised.
I shook my head "How to best explain this? I'm an outside observer placed into the story. A character who didn't exist in the original timeline but knows it from start to finish." I explained.
He looked thoughtful at this for a moment.
"That's a dangerous secret to share so easily." he said as his gaze sharpened "Unless you know I'd never be able to spread it." he said and I smiled.
"Before I heard your side of the story I was undecided about it but now I am quite certain. You should be allowed to enjoy your life." I said and he frowned.
"Explain yourself." he demanded.
"How familiar with the idea of the multiverse are you?" I asked unbothered by the magical pressure he was releasing.
"I am not acquainted with the idea. What is it?" he asked withdrawing his pressure once he understood it wouldn't accomplish anything.
"The theory is that there is an infinite number of worlds based on every thought or choice that is made. Like branches dividing away from a trees trunk but without end. For example lets say this exact moment is one world. From here there are branches coming off from every choice I could make as well as any you could make. There are worlds of fantasy and even some where the world never developed life at all. All exist but rarely ever does anyone actually experience them. I can open windows into other worlds and even travel to them to conduct trades, make deals." I explained as best I could.
"You intend to send me to a different world." he figured it out almost immediately.
I nodded "Yes, I could free you in this one but you are hated here, rejected on all sides. In a different world though no one knows you, you have no past. You can truly live freely, well mostly freely anyways. Obviously absolute freedom is off the table since I can't make you a god or anything like that but the normal human level of freedom is still perfectly possible. The question is which one to send you to." I said honestly.
"And if I refuse? If I choose to remain here till my final moment?" he asked but the look on his face said he already knew how I'd answer.
"I'm not taking no for an option. Don't get me wrong you could absolutely try and stop me but in your current state you'd fail. Not that I can see you rejecting the offer to begin with anyways." I said unbothered.
"I thought as much. And I assume you want something in exchange? You did say you were aspiring to be a merchant I believe?" he asked.
I grinned "So glad you mentioned that! See I happen to know for a fact quite a lot of valuable materials, tomes and artifacts remain unaccounted for from the time your group was rampaging across the world. Now i'm not so foolish as to think you had ALL of those things stashed away but from what I know of you theres definitely a few hidden hoards out there. I want those, the locations, the defenses, all the juicy details." I say bluntly.
"You'll need to sweeten the deal if you want all of that. A fresh start in a world entirely foreign to myself would be... troublesome without some resources. A wand for example." he said with a predatory glint to his eyes.
"I could just kill you and call it a loss." I say calmly.
"Oh I don't doubt that at all, you've got the edge to your eyes. The one everyone who's killed another in cold blood has. Not that I can judge, my reputation was well earned. But I am not asking the world from you, just a little extra to get me on my feet once I land." he said with a calm smile.
"A wand is.... acceptable but don't expect me to rob the death stick from Dumbledore." I say firmly.
He laughed lightly "That won't be necessary. My original wand is stored in one of these "stashes" as you call them. Just as I robbed the elder wand from Gregorovich I too believed someone might rob the wand from me and always made sure my original was well hidden and safe." he said frankly.
"You'll need to tell me where that particular stash is you know." I said and he nods.
"Yes, I know the possibility of you taking the contents and leaving me high and dry exists but you won't. That would leave a blemish on your pride as a merchant, a mark that would bother you to no end." he says with his silver eye gleaming slightly.
"Tch, looked at the future didn't you?" I asked with a slight twitch of annoyance.
He shrugged "Can you really say you wouldn't do the same in my position?" he asked with a calm smile.
