Dallas didn't need a flashlight to see in the dark.
His vision adjusted easily as he opened the book, flipping the cover impatiently.
But the moment he looked at the first five pages, he froze, the pages were completely blank.
He flipped to another page.
Blank.
Another.
Blank.
"What the actual hell…?" he muttered under his breath.
Why would Axel go through all that trouble in the library just to take a blank book? He stared at the empty pages, confused and slightly irritated.
But before he could close the book, something strange happened.
Words began forming on the page that he was on.
They appeared slowly, as if an invisible hand were writing them. Dallas jerked back in shock, almost dropping the book. For a moment, pure instinct told him to throw it away.
But curiosity quickly overpowered his fear of whatever magic that was happening in the moment.
His eyes returned to the page as the words finished forming.
