After about a minute, Ivan appeared on the rooftop.
Dallas heard his footsteps before he saw him. When Ivan stepped into the dim light, he looked irritated, like he had come only because Dallas's tone on the phone had sounded too serious to ignore.
Dallas knew he had a lot to say. But standing there now, he had no idea where to begin.
"What?" Ivan asked when he stopped a few steps away from him. "You know the guards recently found out that some students come up here at night, right? And honestly, with everything going on in my head right now, I really don't have the patience to explain why I come up here if they catch us."
Dallas barely heard any of that, his mind was still spiraling, and instead of answering, he silently handed the book to Ivan.
Even as he did it, he knew how ridiculous it looked, the book was blank. Still, he hoped the writing would appear for Ivan the same way it had appeared for him.
