"What about Lu Xin?" Cheng Ye asked again.
"She's fine," Su Xiu paused for a moment, forcing a smile, "After the flower shop closed, I wanted to hire her to help out. But she applied for a position at the broadcasting station, and I heard she's doing well there, about to become permanent soon."
"Oh." Cheng Ye nodded, understanding.
He didn't have lingering feelings for his former self, just didn't expect this kind of ending.
As they spoke, footsteps sounded in the hallway, followed by the sound of a key turning in the lock.
Wang Kang strode in and, seeing Cheng Ye in the living room, beamed with delight: "Hey, Brother Cheng, you're finally out... finally finished the mission!"
He spoke hurriedly, nearly saying "discharged," but luckily Cheng Ye gave him a sharp look, prompting him to quickly correct himself.
