Chapter 1 - chapter one

April 9th, 2025.

Tonight, I will die.

Together with my brother, I'll jump off a bridge.

If someone finds this letter, please give it to the police... and tell them to send it to my useless father...

"James, I finished the letter. What about you?"

"I'm not writing one. I already told you, Jones. What's the point of wasting time with that when we're gonna die in a few minutes anyway?"

And honestly... I understood him.

I only wrote the letter so our father would know what happened to us.

But none of that mattered anymore.

"James... are you ready, my brother?"

I expected him to hesitate.

Instead, he answered immediately"Yeah."

I smiled a little after hearing his answer.

Who would've thought this would happen just a few weeks ago?

Back then, our mother was still alive.

And even after the divorce, our father was still around.

"Then let's do it, James."

We climbed over the railing of the bridge.

Below us was nothing but darkness and the massive river far beneath.

"You ready?"

"Yeah." i grabbed his hand tightly.

"Five."

"Four."

"Three."

"Two."

"One."

And then we jumped.

For a few seconds, there was only wind.

Then pain.

Unimaginable pain.

I felt my bones shatter the moment my body slammed into the water.

Cold flooded my lungs as I drowned.

Even then, I tried searching for James beneath the surface... but I couldn't see him anywhere.

Maybe it was too dark.

Maybe he was already gone.

Eventually, the pain became the only thing I could think about.

And then...

Nothing.

No sound.

No feeling.

No thoughts

It felt as if I no longer existed.

And maybe...

Maybe that was what I wanted all along.

But the emptiness didn't last.

Suddenly, an unbearable pain exploded through my chest and legs.

It felt like the world itself didn't know what to do with me.

Like something was forcing me out of reality... and then dragging me back in again.

"What... is happening...?"

Then the pain vanished.

Slowly, I began waking up.

But not in a hospital.

This place was unfamiliar.

Nothing about it resembled home.

Or even a normal room.

"Zarik! Please wake up! You can't leave us like this!"

Who the hell was Zarik?

And why was someone screaming at him like that?

Jones turned his head away and closed his eyes.

Just let me sleep...

But then something shocked him.

The words coming out of his mouth weren't English.

The language sounded strange, almost similar to Chinese.

"You're alive!"
