Rachel watched Dahlia's face turn red and held her gaze for a moment.
Then she smirked. "What were you expecting, Dahlia? Did you think I'd get angry?"
Dahlia didn't answer.
Rachel stepped closer. "Or that I'd make Garion dislike me because of this?"
She shook her head once. "You really are still a kid, Dahlia."
Dahlia's fists clenched.
Rachel continued, her tone steady. "No matter what you say, I'm his wife now."
A short pause. "So he's stuck with me."
She didn't soften her voice. "And there's nothing you can do about that."
Dahlia's expression tightened... Then broke.
Tears suddenly fell from her eyes. She was crying.
Her voice came out sharp and uneven. "Who the hell do you think you are?!"
Everyone froze.
Even Garion blinked, caught off guard. No one expected this.
Dahlia wiped her eyes roughly, but more tears kept coming. "You just showed up and think you can take Master away from me?!"
Her voice cracked again.
