Chapter 185 - A Man Who Chose to Stay

The ocean stilled.

No waves.

No ripples.

Like nothing had ever happened.

Cthulhu sank back into the depths—

Its presence fading into silence.

And with it—

Omega.

Gone.

Completely.

Rayon Veynar stepped out of the sea—

Water parting beneath his feet.

He didn't rush.

Didn't speak.

Just walked.

Back to where everything mattered.

Back to Isola Krein.

Back to them.

The moment he arrived—

Nyk let out a breath and shook his head.

"…Damn, bruh…"

He pointed toward the sea.

"…You nearly took us with him."

Rayon glanced at him.

"…You'd survive."

Nyk smirked.

"…Yeah, but still—watch the splash damage."

Before anything else—

Azelar stepped forward.

He raised his hand.

The air shifted.

The land responded.

Fragments of the destroyed mansion lifted—

Reassembling piece by piece.

Walls.

Columns.

Structure.

Time itself felt like it bent—

And within seconds—

The mansion stood whole again.

Untouched.

"…Can't have you all sleeping outside."

Azelar muttered.

Christine exhaled slowly.

"…Fighting every day…"

She stretched her arm slightly.

"…It's tiring… isn't it?"

Nexus adjusted her hold on the twins—

Her voice calm.

"…Sure, yeah…"

She looked down at them—

Softening.

"…But I'll always be ready…"

"…To protect my children."

Beside them—

Luminous smiled gently.

She placed a hand on both their shoulders.

"…Come now…"

"…Let the men handle their nonsense."

"…We deserve our time too."

She pulled them along lightly.

"…Don't worry about those two idiots."

Nyk immediately threw his hands up.

"…Yo—what did I do?!"

He looked offended.

"…Why I'm catching strays??"

Azelar laughed.

Deep.

Unbothered.

"…It's good to be young."

Nyk clicked his tongue.

"…Old man really talking like he wasn't like this before."

Rayon didn't join the banter.

He walked inside.

Slowly.

His gaze softened.

There—

On the bed—

Lucifer.

Awake.

Quiet.

And beside him—

Esdeath.

Sleeping peacefully.

As always.

Rayon walked closer.

He crouched slightly—

And gently placed his finger near them.

Lucifer instinctively reached for it.

Esdeath stirred slightly—

But didn't wake.

Rayon smiled.

A rare one.

Quiet.

Real.

And for a moment—

He remembered.

Blood.

War.

Endless battles.

A version of himself—

That didn't hesitate.

Didn't stop.

Didn't care.

A man who would destroy anything in his path—

Without a second thought.

"…Hmph…"

He looked at his children again.

"…Guess things really changed."

He wasn't a hero.

He never would be.

He wasn't a villain either.

He was—

Rayon.

And now—

A father.

Rayon stood up.

"…Nyk."

From outside—

Nyk lit a cigarette.

"…Yo?"

Rayon didn't turn.

"…Erethon."

A shadow opened.

Erethon stepped out—

Like he had always been there.

Polished.

Calm.

Almost like a butler.

"…You called?"

Rayon crossed his arms slightly.

"…I'm going to the Heavenly Court."

"…The God Realm."

Erethon's smile widened.

"…Heh…"

"…Now that sounds like you."

"…Old you."

Rayon exhaled lightly.

"…Only thing that changed…"

"…Is my temper."

Nyk stepped in—

Blowing smoke to the side.

"…That's what family does."

He shrugged.

"…Either mess you up…"

"…Or fix you."

A pause.

"…Looks like you got the good version."

Rayon smirked faintly.

"…I guess so…"

"…Lil bro."

Departure

Rayon turned—

Walking toward the exit.

"…Azelar."

Outside—

Azelar was already seated.

Drink in hand.

"…Keep an eye on them for me."

Azelar didn't even look up.

He simply waved his hand—

Casually.

"…Go."

Nyk sighed dramatically.

"…Man…"

"…Old man really got no manners."

Before he could finish—

THWACK—!!

A slipper smacked him straight in the head.

"…Watch your mouth."

Nyk froze—

Then burst out laughing.

"…Aight, aight!"

He turned—

Grinning.

"…Let's roll then."

Rayon stepped forward—

Darkness opening.

Erethon followed.

Nyk cracked his neck.

And just before stepping in—

He looked back—

At Christine.

At the mansion.

At everything.

"…Be right back, babe."

Then—

They vanished.

The portal closed.

Silence returned.

Azelar leaned back slightly.

"…Damn disciple…"

He took a sip.

And smiled.
