Chapter 2 - Home Again

Eclair: "Anki....my angel!"

Still standing after declaring himself to the Angel named Anki, Eclair began to ask:

Eclair: "So...Uh, what does this contract come with exactly?'

Eclair could hear a faint grumble in the literal back side of his mind.

Anki's voice, initially, was a booming voice filled with authority and preeminence. Currently his voice was rather high pitched, with a slight cheekiness behind it that was apparent to anyone listening.

Anki: "Oh right. Let me explain. You might want to sit down."

Eclair, still inadvertently standing sat down to pay attention.

Anki: "Alright. The contract you just signed was used with your soul, and mine. There now is a spiritual, mental and physical link between me and you."

Eclair: "Wait, so I just sold my soul!?!" He yelled out.

Anki: "Well.... you appeared to be in need...I mean look at you! Your system has failed you, your laws have failed, and everyone you've ever known has turned their backs to you! What do you have left, child!"

What he was saying was right. Eclair truly had nowhere to go, and no one to assist him going forward. But from Eclair's perspective, does that doesn't mean he has trade away not just his soul, but his mind and body?

Anki: "For you to question my generosity with such distaste as to measure it up to be a Demon Contract, that's low."

Eclair: "CUT THE BULLSHIT OKAY! I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT YOU LOOK LIKE, YOUR JUST A VOICE IN MY HEAD. A AUDITORY HALLUCINATION STEMMING FROM MY EXTREME STRESS AND DEPRESSION! WHAT EVEN ARE YOU? WHAT DO YOU EVEN LOOK LIKE!"The voice went silent for a moment as Eclair let out his vent up frustration. Anki was nothing but his own mind creating tragic illusions of angels that fed his desperate being spoonful's of hope. Who could imagine an angel descending from the heavens to grant this a lowly human another chance? An impossible, incongruent event.

Anki: "Oh. So you want to know what I look like, hm? Because it's obvious your oblivious to your situation, so let me show you! I will reveal to you the being you gave your heart to!"

Eclair: "Wai-"

Inside the cell harboring deep shadows that blot out the walls, and a boy abandoned by the world, a light gleams....

The radiance possesses a greyish-yellow aura, brightening the cell and eradicating the harrowing shadows. The light began to grow, more and more and more. An incandescent figure began to materialize in the middle of cell.

Anki: "Be not afraid."

Floating in the middle of the cell surrounded by yellow light is Anki. Sprouting 6 wings so black they looked like onyx. His face was otherworldy: perfect facial harmony, with 4 eyes each with different pupils, his skin was grey-black and his golden luscious hair flowed down to his back.

Beauty. Simply beautiful.

Anki: "For I am the one you have contracted, and you are my vessel."

------

Frozen in awe, Eclair shakes his head, averting his eyes from the gorgeous angel.

Eclair: "So it's true... angels do exist then!"

Anki did not respond, dropping down onto the floor gracefully, he struts towards Eclair until they are face to face. Eclair moves his head back as Anki says:

Anki: "Don't you feel it? Does your muscles not feel tighter, more compact? Your bones more dense? Your brain more refined? Your organs, your tissues, everything? Cant you even realize own your soul has been augmented!?"

As the teen reels back from the angels thundering questions, he starts to wonder what was it he gained from that contract.

Eclair: "So, what did I gain from that contract? I am now your vessel, I will serve you no matter what."

Anki: "The abilities you've gained must be used to the best of your abilities. Your strength, agility, durability and stamina have been enhanced beyond human limit. You jump higher anyone, run faster, and possess more strength then any human.

Eclair looks down at his recently frail body and see's his muscles are compact and hard to the touch.

Eclair: "How will I escape this cell?"

Anki: "...."

....

Anki: "Did you not hear what I just said? Are you not strong now? Do you not have the means to escape this pocket-sized room they call a 'cell'?"

Eclair, with words of encouragement from Anki, walks to the cell wall that the beyond lies on.

Society, Humanity, Life.. All these existences have all abandoned Eclair and despite his new life as an angels vessel, he still holds on to these concepts even though they have long left him. Life continues to flow without him, following life is humanity; with their everlasting, unbreachable rules and regulations. With these rules follows society; the class system, the marginalized, those who were brought up following the wrong the rules (the rules humanity doesn't accept) are stepped on and labelled as criminals. But what are criminals? Those who engage in criminal activity. But why? Why had they done it, was it even them who had done it, if the evidence were tampered with, or a confession was forced via pressure, then could we truly tell who had done what? Order is directly proportional to society, society is derived from humanity, and humanity is ultimately created from life. So thus, is Order not indirectly Life itself?

Clenching his fist, the cheated teen hurls his pain and sorrow at the wall. Pieces of old concrete go flying out into the pouring rain as Eclair steps out into the world a new person. A person who truly understands how this world works.

The shadows had returned to the cell as half of Anki's body is engulfed by shadows. He stands inside the cell unwilling to go out into the beyond.

Anki: "Go."

Without having to say anything, Eclair dashes into the downpour, towards his home, towards his aunt.

Fast!

Very fast!

Inhumane speed coupled with his poor running technique formed a destructive path through the forest to his apartment.

Mud and slosh blanket his clothes as he approaches his home.

His apartment can be seen in the distance as he continues his mad dash home.

Eclair: "Finally!"

He has made it home.

The apartment is a worn down two story building with all the windows' lights running.

Peering inside his apartment room, he can see the living room.

His face lit up as he saw his aunt, a middle aged women with tan skin and tied up hair sitting down on an armchair.

Her face dread, sadness — indifference.

She doesn't even look up to the TV as she has her head down in sorrow. Eclair views this scene, his stupid smile shifts into a slight curve, then into exasperation. Something of great value had been stolen from him. His aunt's warm idle smile would brighten his day as he came back from work. How many long hours had he spent under his manager's constant beratement and temper.

--------

Aunt: "How strong you are, my boy. This world has put so much pressure on you hasn't it?"

Eclair sits down into the armchair of the living room and begins to shed tears.

Eclair: "Why me auntie? Will I truly live like this my whole life? Is this what I was destined for? On! And on! And on! Everyday with the same bullshit people, bullshit pay, bullshit city. Nothing has gone well for me, but I try my hardest. To make right with those who dislike me, to make right with my sick fuck boss. To try harder everyday, what's the point?"

His aunt walks up behind him and hugs him.

Aunt: "The point of all this — the work, the school, it's all apart of the system. We work to eat and to afford homes. We go school to have the opportunity to go work. Lives are made and formed by struggle. The struggle for survival — to live, is apart of all things.

His aunt truly was a true member of society, even though the death of her sister left her in the custody of a child, she still took responsibility and worked hard, harder than ever for that child. Pushed to the edges of society, she still continues to love and care for that child...

---------

Walking away from his apartment.

Walking away from his aunt.

He stepped into the drenched forest surrounds by oak trees and the earthy smell of petrichor. The gray clouds poured rain upon the forest as Eclair walked endlessly.

Collapsing on his knees in anguish, drops of water smear his tan face.

He calls out weakly:

Eclair: "...Anki....."

No response

Eclair: "...Angel?....."

From the corner of his eye, he sees a figure walk out from the trees.

The being walks towards Eclair slowly.

Step

Step

Step

Coming a couple of feet infront of the kneeling Eclair.

He declares:

Anki: "I am not an Angel, Eclair."

Eclair continued kneeling, his state pivoting from sorrow to confusion.

Eclair: "I don't underst—"

Anki: "I am not an Angel! And I never will be accepted as one!"

His tone reaches it's peak now, his booming voice echoes across the grim forest.

Anki: "I am the Fallen Angel representing Order — Anki!
