Chapter 3 - Order? Disorder?

Kneeling down towards Anki with tears in his eyes, Eclair remained confused as to what he was saying.

Eclair: "What?"

Anki: "I am a Fallen Angel, representing the concept of Order."

What was that supposed to mean? Order?

What did Anki get out of telling him that?

His vision was blurred and obscured by the pouring torrential, but as his eyes adjusted he could finally see Anki's face.

A face that once possessed beautiful and resplendent features was now locked in a furious scowl, a grimace that only served to evoke Anki's random fit of anger.

Eclair: "I don't....understand. What do you mean Fallen Angel? Why is that so importa-."

Anki disrupted his questions:

Anki: "Why is it Important? Oh, that's rich, why is me, being this lowly, bottom feeding Hell Dweller so important? I'll tell you. I'll tell you why. It's because you keep calling me Angel!

Eclair stood up from his stance and took a few steps back from the raging Angel as he asked:

Eclair: How...how come that's a bad thing? Wouldn't you want to be called Angel?

Step

Step

Step

Eclair: "Anki wait. If your not an Angel, then why...why did you save me?" he asked

His state of rage was swiftly washed over by a state of shock. Look up towards the bleak rainclouds he utters:

Anki: "The reason I saved you. Is....complicated." His brows furrowed as he continued.

Anki: "Your cry for help would normally go unheard. But for some reason, I was so compelled to help you, that I ascended from Hell to make a contract with you. But...looking back on it..."

Anki moved his hand toward his head as he wonders.

Anki: "Why?"

There was something wrong with Anki's memories, yes, that was it, it was his memories.

Anki: "Where did they go. Why did I come here, to Earth?"

Too many questions have been asked, and too many answers left unsaid.

What compelled Anki to save Eclair? How many people have begged for a second chance from a higher power, only to fall on deaf ear? Anki stood frozen, reevaluating his decision.

The rain didn't look like it was going to stop anytime soon, Eclair walked towards Anki, his boots sloshed around in the muddied soil as he approaches the Fallen Angel.

Step

Step

Coming ever so closer to the Fallen Angel, Eclair asks:

Eclair: "For whatever reason you chose me, we can find out later, but Anki—"

Finally coming face to face with the beautiful gray-skinned angel, he declares gratefully:

Eclair: "Thank you Anki. Thank you for giving me a second chance."

Hours Later

In the inner city

Eclair sat on a bench in front of a book shop eating pastries.

A soothing voice resounded in his mind, like a second voice from his own.

Anki: "So, tell me about yourself, what do you do, who do you love and where do you want to go?"

Finishing up the pastry, he thought for a moment and then responded:

Eclair: "Well, I was in my final year of schooling, didn't really have a lot of friends there. Well, I never really had friends anywhere. School was just.....nothing to me: it's rules, the people. I was never one to follow rules, I found no point in them. Can't smoke, can't fight back, can't talk back to the teachers. In my eyes, those rules were pointless. But, of course, that mindset got me nowhere. But I still see it as the truth.

Anki was pleased to see that Eclair was in currently stable. There was of course more information that needed to be shared between the two.

Anki: "Hmmm, continue."

Eclair: "I also went to work! It was some shitty little tech store that fixed electronics. You know how I said I never had friends anywhere, the same ruling applied there also. I don't really know why they disliked me, but I think it was because of my lack of care. Looking back, and even now, I have this sense of carelessness, where no matter what situation I'm in, it never truly affects me. It's not in the sense where I just move on, it's more just like; whatever happens, happens."

Looking up, he could see birds flying out from the shelters protecting them from the rain, trees.

Anki: "What about those you love, your family."

Eclair: "Why are you asking me all of these?"

Anki sighed, and then answered

Anki: "It's because I want to hear it from your own mouth, your own ideals, your goals, your life, I need to hear it from you.

Eclair: "My loved ones....are gone."

Anki: "How so?"

Eclair stomach began to turn as he begins to recall the story of how his parents died.

Eclair: "Car accident when I was 5."

A silence emanated Eclair's mind. Anki decided to change the subject.

Anki: "Now that your my blessed....haven't you wondered what you can do? Noticed anything different other then your body?"

Looking back on, Eclair never had anytime to reflect on what was given to him. His new body, capable of running tens of kilometers in minutes and punching past walls, was also another thing he just didn't seem to care about.

Eclair: "You said you were the 'fallen angel of order', what does that even mean?"

Anki let out a slight chuckle and then answered.

Anki: Order, is the state of peace, calmness, and overall obedience towards the rules. Look around Eclair, don't you see all these people, living their own completely unique lives, with their own completely unique character. Although, their character isn't wholly unique, there is one factor that most individuals all share, and that is the obedience of the rules.

Eclair: "....Rules....like what?"

Anki: "Everything. The makings of society. Like how groups of individuals band together for their own desires and goals, rules like: don't harm others, don't steal, do not enact retribution. The rules of the universe is another example. Humans and other beings are trapped by concepts like momentum, gravity, the speed of light.

Eclair: "Hmmmm."

Anki: I could continue to spout bullshit about the goodness of Order, or I could tell you what I truly represent...."

Sat upright in his bench, Eclair listens closely:

Anki: "Disorder, is the natural chaos of all things. A state of randomness caused by the absence of structure. A system although governed by rules is left in a state unpredictable due to how sensitive they are to change. Of course, the rules of the universe like inertia, the flow of hot and cold, equal and opposite reactions. Hah! It's hilarious, energy can't be destroyed? Hah! Watch this Eclair, look up."

Tilting his head upwards towards the entrance of a store, he sees....something.

Glowing all white as though all lights were mixed into that thing, it looked like it produced zero light, just a white floating blob of..something.

Eclair: "What is that....."

Anki: "Energy. Well, the energy from that lamp post. It contains electrical, radiant, chemical, and thermal energy all in one. Watch closely."

The amalgamation of differing energies that seemed to possess all colors slowly began to be compressed. Until it was so squished down to the point Eclair could only see a faint dot.

And soon that dot vanished into nothing.

Anki: "There, energy has been destroyed."

Eclair sat there, motionless. Finally after a moment of silence he speaks.

Eclair: "Uh, I'm pretty sure that's not supposed to happen."

Anki: "Why not? It just did. My power is not that of 'Order', but of 'Disorder'. Fallen Angels' concepts are inverted upon their transformation."

Eclair: "What, so you truly controlled Order?"

Anki: "Yep." Although inside of Eclair mind, Anki gave off the sense that he was smiling. A reminiscent smile.

Eclair: "Ok then, what can I do."

Anki: "Come with me, I'll show you."

------------------------------------

An hour later.

Infront of the city bank

Eclair and Anki (inside his mind) enter the bank, to test out his unusual abilities.
