Chapter 32 - Weekend

The weekend came fast.

Too fast, honestly.

Nate stood in the open training grounds outside Kyoto, sleeves rolled up, Spirit Bond humming faintly around him. The air was cold enough to fog breath—perfect.

Mizore and Kurumu stood a few steps away.

Mizore was calm, as always. Hands tucked into her sleeves, lollipop in her mouth, eyes quietly focused on Nate.

Kurumu, on the other hand, was practically vibrating.

"So," Nate said, stretching his neck side to side, "we're fixing your ranks."

Kurumu blinked. "Fixing?"

"You're both B," Nate continued casually. "That's… unacceptable."

Kurumu puffed her cheeks. "Hey! B is good!"

Nate looked at her flatly. "B gets you killed if something serious happens."

Silence.

Mizore nodded once. "I agree."

Kurumu straightened immediately. "O-okay… when you put it like that…"

Nate pointed at them. "By the end of this weekend, you're both aiming for SSS."

Kurumu's eyes widened. "T-that's insane!"

Nate shrugged. "Yeah. That's the point."

Before Kurumu could argue, the air suddenly shifted.

Magic pressure—bright, playful, overwhelming—washed over the training grounds like a tidal wave of glitter.

A familiar laugh echoed.

"Oho~? Training already?"

A magic circle snapped open, exploding in pink light, sparkles, and unnecessary special effects.

Serafall Leviathan stepped out, hands on her hips, wearing her usual cheerful grin.

Nate sighed. "And here comes the glitter apocalypse."

Serafall gasped dramatically. "Rude! This is art."

Kurumu froze.

Her brain blue-screened.

"…L-Levi-chan?" she whispered.

Serafall's eyes landed on her.

Then sparkled.

"Oh! You must be the new girl~!"

Kurumu immediately bowed so hard she almost fell over. "I-I'M A HUGE FAN! I'VE WATCHED ALL YOUR MAGICAL GIRL BATTLES—AND YOUR SPEECH AT THE UNDERWORLD SUMMIT—AND YOUR LIVE STREAMS—"

Serafall clapped her hands. "Kyaa~! I love fans!"

Kurumu looked like she was about to ascend.

Mizore leaned slightly toward Nate. "She might die."

Nate nodded. "Emotionally, yeah."

Serafall floated closer, inspecting both girls with interest. "So these are the new additions, huh?"

She tilted her head at Nate. "You really don't waste time."

Nate deadpanned. "You say that like it's new information."

Serafall laughed, then her expression softened—still playful, but sharp underneath.

"I heard you're training them."

"Yep."

"To SSS?"

"Also yep."

Serafall whistled. "That's ambitious. Succubus and Yuki-onna at that level is… dangerous."

Kurumu stiffened. "I-I can handle it!"

Mizore nodded again. "I won't fail."

Serafall smiled wider.

"Oh, I like them already."

She snapped her fingers.

The air locked.

A massive barrier slammed down around the training grounds, layered, reinforced, absurdly strong.

"No interruptions," Serafall said cheerfully. "I'll supervise. For fun."

Nate cracked his knuckles. "Cool. First lesson—control."

Kurumu blinked. "Control?"

Nate looked straight at her. "Your charm leaks everywhere. You rely on instinct instead of intent."

Then he turned to Mizore. "And you suppress too much. You're afraid of breaking things."

Mizore's fingers tightened slightly.

Nate stepped between them.

"SSS isn't about power," he said calmly. "It's about owning it."

Serafall crossed her arms, impressed. "You really do sound like a king already."

Nate sighed. "Please don't start that."

Kurumu raised her hand nervously. "Um… if we fail?"

Nate smirked.

"You won't."

He activated his Spirit Bond.

The pressure hit them like a wall.

"Because I won't let you."

Kurumu swallowed hard.

Mizore's eyes sharpened.

And Serafall?

She grinned like she'd just found the best weekend entertainment imaginable.

"Oho~," she whispered. "This is gonna be good."

Fumika crossed her arms, finally breaking the tension.

"Nate, making them reach SSS in one weekend is a bit much."

Nate froze.

He replayed the sentence in his head.

'…Yeah. That was unhinged.'

"…I am an idiot," he admitted flatly.

Kurumu blinked. Mizore tilted her head.

Nate walked over to them and gently patted both their heads, one hand each.

"Sorry, girls. That was me going full king-brain." He exhaled. "Let's make it realistic."

Kurumu relaxed instantly. "O-oh… okay."

Mizore nodded. "That is acceptable."

Nate straightened. "By the end of this month, I'll get you both to SSS, knocking on Z. No shortcuts. No burnout."

Serafall smiled approvingly. "Much better~ Growth sticks when it's earned."

Fumika sighed in relief. "Thank you."

Nate turned serious again. "Alright. Training focus starts now."

Kurumu stood in the center of the barrier, tail flicking nervously.

Nate circled her slowly. "Your charm magic is strong."

She brightened. "R-really?"

"But," he continued, "you use it like a flashbang."

Kurumu deflated. "Oh…"

Nate snapped his fingers.

A dozen illusionary silhouettes appeared—emotionless, blank, unreactive.

"Charm one," Nate said.

Kurumu frowned. "That's it?"

"Yes."

She inhaled and released her aura instinctively.

Every illusion wavered.

Nate raised a hand. "Stop."

The pressure cut instantly.

"That," he said calmly, "is AoE thirst. It wastes energy and alerts everyone."

Kurumu clenched her fists. 'I've always done it this way…'

Nate stepped closer, lowering his voice. "Charm isn't about overwhelming desire. It's about direction."

He tapped her forehead lightly. "Intent first. Power second."

Kurumu focused.

This time, she pictured one target.

Her aura sharpened—thin, controlled, almost invisible.

One illusion froze.

Then knelt.

The others didn't move.

Kurumu gasped. "I— I did it!"

Serafall clapped. "Kyaa~! That's control!"

Nate nodded. "Good. Now do it again. No excitement. No instinct."

Kurumu swallowed, face flushed—but this time with focus, not lust.

Mizore stood quietly at the edge of the field.

Nate walked over. "Your ice is strong, but hesitant."

Mizore looked down. "I don't want to hurt anyone."

Nate crouched to meet her eyes. "Intent matters more than temperature."

He gestured outward.

A stone pillar rose from the ground.

"Freeze it."

Mizore raised her hand.

Frost spread—slow, cautious.

The pillar cracked, uneven.

Nate shook his head. "You're asking the ice for permission."

She stiffened. '…Is that what I'm doing?'

"Ice doesn't hesitate," Nate said gently. "Neither should you."

He placed his hand over hers. Spirit Bond flared—cold, clean, steady.

"Freeze because you choose to."

Mizore closed her eyes.

This time, her aura dropped.

No emotion.

No fear.

Just will.

The air snapped.

The pillar froze instantly—perfect crystal, silent, absolute.

It didn't crack.

It didn't resist.

It submitted.

Mizore opened her eyes, surprised.

Serafall's smile softened. "Oh… that's beautiful."

Nate stepped back. "That's freezing intent. Not anger. Not fear. Authority."

Mizore nodded slowly. "I understand."

Kurumu looked between them, determination burning.

"I won't fall behind."

Mizore glanced at her. "Neither will I."

Nate crossed his arms, satisfied.

'Good. They're not chasing power anymore. They're learning control.'

Serafall floated beside him. "You're scary when you teach."

Nate sighed. "I get that a lot."

Fumika shook her head. "This month is going to be insane."

Nate smirked.

"Yeah," he said. "But they'll survive it."

And somewhere deep down, both Kurumu and Mizore felt it—

They weren't just getting stronger.

They were becoming dangerous in the right way.

Nate then summoned Blizzaria. "Blizzaria will help you Mizoru, she is already a Z rank Yuki-onna".

Blizzaria went to her.

Nate then went to Kurumu. "I am going to summon Kyubi to help with charm".

He then looked at her. "But also, what other way a Succubus gets stronger".

Kurumu with a confident look said. "Sex".

Everyone blink, Serafall was not supires.

Nate blinked. "Yeah, kinda expected that".

He just sighed. "You and I will do it eventually".

Kurumu's wings flared happily. Heart pupils maxed out.

"Really? Promise~?"

Nate waved a hand tiredly.

"Eventually. When you're ready. When we're both ready. No rush. Communication. Consent. All that."

Kurumu leaned forward. Wings flared happily. Heart pupils max level.

"Really? Promise~?"

Nate rubbed the back of his neck. Voice flat.

"Eventually. When you're ready. When we're both ready. No rush. Communication. Consent. All that."

Kurumu squealed. Small jump. Tail whipped side to side.

"Yay! Power-up date night!"

Nate waved a tired hand.

"After training. And only after training."

He raised the Watch again.

"Kyubi, come on out."

Golden-red light exploded. Dramatic as always.

Kyubi appeared — long white hair, red eyes, nine tails fanned like a cape. Smirk locked and loaded.

"Well well~ Called by the harem king himself." His gaze slid to Kurumu. "And with such… delicious potential."

Kurumu's heart pupils doubled.

Kyubi laughed. Deep. Smooth.

"Charm refinement, is it? Excellent. We'll skip the basics. Straight to the good stuff."

Nate pointed at him.

"Focus. Teach her control. Not just raw lust."

Kyubi raised an eyebrow.

"Control? How boring."

Then he looked at Kurumu again. Smirk grew.

"But I suppose we can make it fun."

Kurumu stepped forward. Wings spread.

"I'm ready."

Kyubi circled her slowly. Tails brushing the air.

"First lesson — intent over instinct. Lust is easy. Precision is power."

He stopped in front of her.

"Try to charm me. One target. No splash damage."

Kyubi snapped his fingers.

"Alright, succubus. Next step."

Kurumu straightened instantly.

"No aura. No wings. No eyes. No tails."

She blinked.

"…Then how do I charm?"

Kyubi grinned, sharp and smug.

"Words."

Dead silence.

Kurumu's brain blue-screened.

"…Words??"

Kyubi leaned in, tails swaying lazily.

"Anyone can leak lust. Kings command with their voice."

Serafall gasped dramatically.

"Oho~ verbal charm training! This is gonna be spicy!"

Nate pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Serafall. Do not encourage her."

Kurumu swallowed, visibly nervous.

"O-okay… um…"

She looked at Kyubi.

Just Kyubi.

No power. No pressure.

"…Please listen to me."

Nothing happened.

Kyubi tilted his head.

"Again. But mean it."

Kurumu clenched her fists.

"…Stay."

Kyubi stopped breathing.

Not frozen.

Not compelled.

He just… paused.

"…Hah."

His smirk slowly returned.

"There it is."

Kurumu's eyes widened.

"I—I did it?!"

"You asked," Kyubi corrected.

"And I wanted to obey."

Serafall clapped like a menace.

"YES! Emotional manipulation unlocked!"

Nate muttered.

"…I'm raising monsters."

Then the temperature dropped.

Not suddenly.

Not violently.

Just… wrong.

Frost crept across the ground in perfect concentric rings.

Everyone turned.

Mizore stood perfectly still.

Eyes unfocused.

Breath silent.

Blizzaria's expression changed instantly.

"…That's not normal freezing."

The air stopped moving.

Sound dulled.

Frost didn't spread—it ended things.

Nate's watch screamed.

"ABSOLUTE ZERO FOCUS—!"

He moved instantly.

"Blizzaria!"

Already there.

Golden frost and divine ice collided—not to overpower, but to cancel.

Reality shuddered as temperatures normalized.

Mizore collapsed forward—

—and Nate caught her.

She trembled, eyes wide.

"I—I didn't mean to— I just thought— I didn't want to hurt anyone—"

Her voice cracked.

Nate knelt, holding her gently.

"It's okay. You didn't do anything wrong."

Blizzaria knelt too, placing a hand over Mizore's heart.

"That power responded to clarity. Not malice."

Mizore shook.

"…I was scared."

Nate didn't hesitate.

He leaned down and kissed her forehead.

Soft. Steady. Grounding.

Blizzaria did the same on the other side.

Mizore froze—then melted.

"…I'm not in trouble?"

Nate smiled gently.

"Not even a little."

Serafall wiped a fake tear.

"Why is this house emotionally lethal?"

Kurumu hovered nearby, worried.

"…She just unlocked something scary, didn't she?"

Kyubi folded his arms, serious now.

"She found stillness so complete that the universe stopped arguing."

Beat.

"…That's Z-rank focus."

Nate exhaled slowly.

Then—

He laughed.

Low. Quiet. Dangerous.

He looked at the girls.

At Kyubi.

At Blizzaria.

At Serafall.

"…I'm building a strike team."

Serafall grinned.

"Oh? Just now realizing?"

Nate's smile widened.

"…Ophis is going to love this."

Somewhere very far away—

A dark-haired dragon blinked.

And smiled.

Hours later, training finally came to an end.

Kurumu and Mizore were both breathing hard, sweat clinging to their skin, auras flaring far stronger than before. Their presence alone warped the air slightly.

They were right there.

One step from breaking through into A-Rank.

Nate noticed immediately.

"…You're stuck," he said, tilting his head. "Not weak. Just… hesitating."

Kurumu looked away, wings twitching.

Mizore clenched her fists.

They needed a push.

Nate stepped forward.

Kurumu barely had time to react before he gently lifted her chin and kissed her.

Not rushed.

Not aggressive.

Just firm, confident, and intentional.

Her wings flared instantly.

Spirit Bond activated.

Golden energy flowed between them, Kurumu's charm power tightening, sharpening, condensing instead of spilling everywhere. Her knees nearly buckled when he pulled back.

"…Whoa," she whispered, pupils glowing. "That felt—"

"Focused," Nate finished. "That's how it's supposed to feel."

Then he turned to Mizore.

She didn't flinch. She stepped closer.

Nate kissed her too — softer this time, lingering just enough for her to respond. Cold brushed against warmth, frost spiraling before stabilizing into crystal clarity.

Her power snapped into alignment.

When he pulled away, Mizore's aura was calm.

Absolute.

Blizzaria's eyes widened.

"…She stabilized it."

Serafall grinned like she'd just found a new favorite toy.

"Oh this is getting good."

Kurumu gasped as her energy surged again — dense, controlled, refined.

A pressure wave rippled outward.

The barrier cracked.

Both girls crossed into A-Rank simultaneously.

Kurumu stared at her hands, then at Nate.

"…So kissing is a training method now?"

Nate shrugged casually.

"With my girls? Yeah."

Mizore nodded once, cheeks faintly pink.

"…I don't mind."

Nate smiled.

"…Good. Because we're not stopping here."

Somewhere far away, Ophis tilted her head and smiled.

Later that day, in the Underworld.

A secure Maou-only communication channel lit up.

Serafall Leviathan hummed cheerfully as she submitted her report, complete with sparkly headers, emojis, and way too much enthusiasm for something that should have been classified as a potential apocalypse.

SUBJECT: Casual Weekend Training Update ☆ Levi-chan Style!

STATUS: ✨Totally Fine (Probably)✨

Ajuka Beelzebub was the first to open it.

He skimmed.

Paused.

Re-read the second paragraph.

"…Pfft—"

He choked on his tea.

Falbium, lounging sideways in his chair, blinked. "Ajuka? You okay?"

Ajuka coughed violently, wiping his mouth. "S-Serafall just reported that the Yokai King casually trained a succubus and a yuki-onna from B-Rank to the brink of A-Rank in one weekend."

Silence.

Sirzechs slowly lowered his paperwork. "…Say that again."

Falbium leaned forward. "Wait— trained how?"

Ajuka hesitated.

"…Spirit Bond reinforcement. Emotional synchronization. Affection-based resonance."

Another pause.

Sirzechs pinched the bridge of his nose.

"…Of course it was affection-based."

Falbium burst out laughing. "HAHA— no no no, hold on— did he seriously power-level them with romantic bonding?"

Serafall's video feed popped up, sparkles everywhere.

"Yep!~ Levi-chan witnessed it personally! Very healthy! Very consensual! Very anime!"

Sirzechs stared at the screen. "Serafall."

"Yes~?"

"…Why didn't you stop this."

Serafall tilted her head innocently. "Why would I? They were adorable. Also the energy output was fascinating."

Ajuka scrolled further.

"…He also summoned Kyubi. And Blizzaria. And accidentally formed a high-synergy mixed-strike unit with near-Z-rank growth potential."

Falbium's grin slowly faded. "…Accidentally."

Sirzechs leaned back in his chair, eyes closed.

"…We are so screwed."

Ajuka adjusted his glasses. "This explains the spatial distortions reported near Kyoto."

Serafall clapped. "Oh! And Kurumu Kurono idolizes me. Very cute."

"That is not the problem," Sirzechs said flatly.

Falbium whistled. "So let me get this straight. The Yokai King—"

"—Who is also a Seer," Ajuka added.

"—Who is also human," Sirzechs sighed.

"—Is casually building a bonded harem-based combat squad," Falbium finished, "that responds to emotional triggers and scales explosively."

Serafall beamed. "Mhm!"

Sirzechs stared at the ceiling.

"…Does he know what he's doing?"

Ajuka shook his head slowly. "Worse. He's doing it naturally."

The room went quiet.

Then Azazel smirked.

"…You know who's going to love this."

Sirzechs groaned.

"Ophis."
