Chapter 295 - Chapter 7: Terms on the Table

Ignoring the fact that they were still in the cafeteria, she was already preparing to have her automaton attack and teach Emiya a lesson.

But-

"You can't do that here, Miss Charlotte," Emiya said quietly, his gaze shifting to the automaton Sigmund.

"Don't you agree, Mr. Sigmund?"

The automaton standing on the table nodded.

"Char, he's absolutely right."

Charlotte froze, panic flashing across her face.

"Sigmund!"

She hadn't expected her automaton to side with an outsider. The realization left her both embarrassed and furious.

Sigmund let out a helpless sigh.

"Calm down, Char. If you don't want to lose me."

Charlotte Blue's body stiffened completely.

She immediately realized something was wrong.

Sigmund relaxed slightly.

"As you can see, Char, I attempted to transform just now. I couldn't."

"This gentleman stopped me. I don't know how he did it, but I'm certain I'm no match for him."

He paused.

"My lifespan is already short. I don't want to die right now, Char."

Charlotte's heart skipped.

She could only watch as Akabane Raishin and Yaya walked away.

Then she turned back to Emiya, her gaze icy.

"Who are you?"

"As you can see, I'm just Professor Kimberly's assistant," Emiya replied calmly.

Charlotte bit her lip.

"What do you want?"

"To stop you," Emiya said. "You wanted to stop Akabane Raishin just now, didn't you? You can't. He came here with resolve."

He continued.

"Do you know what Raishin wants?"

"To challenge Magnus," Charlotte answered.

"He'll die. Aren't you two friends?"

"We only know each other," Emiya said. "We're not friends. And you're wrong about one thing."

He looked toward the exit.

"Akabane Raishin won't die. Magnus won't kill him."

Charlotte stared at him.

"What do you mean?"

"If you don't believe me," Emiya said, standing up, "then follow me."

He walked out of the cafeteria.

Charlotte hesitated for only a moment before following.

The moment they stepped outside, Akabane Raishin's voice reached them.

"Don't say such sad things, okay? I came all the way from the other side of the world just to see you."

Charlotte blinked and whispered, "Do those two know each other?"

Emiya lowered his voice.

"Their relationship is beyond your imagination."

Magnus examined Raishin carefully before replying in a calm, low tone.

"It seems you've mistaken me for someone else."

Charlotte turned to Emiya, her eyes full of confusion.

Didn't they know each other?

Why would Magnus say that?

Emiya simply smiled, unconcerned.

At the same time, Akabane Raishin suppressed the anger boiling inside him and raised his arm.

"Even if that's the case, it doesn't matter. I just wanted to give you this-"

He couldn't finish.

Six automatons appeared around him.

Some behind him. Some in front. Some sitting directly on his shoulders.

Swords, spears, daggers.

Cold metal pressed against his skin.

Raishin's face showed pure bewilderment.

Emiya understood immediately.

Raishin had no idea when they appeared, or how he'd been subdued.

The gap between him and Magnus was overwhelming.

"Raishin!"

Yaya cried out the moment she saw him captured.

She moved-

And a blade lightly touched Raishin's throat.

That was enough.

Yaya froze completely.

No matter how fast she was, she couldn't outrun automatons that already had their weapons in place.

If she acted, Raishin would die first.

So she didn't move.

"What an impatient bunch," Raishin said with a bitter smile, slowly reaching for the strap at his waist.

"Relax. I just wanted to give you a greeting gift."

He opened a pouch and took out a small bottle filled with black powder.

"Stand down."

Magnus had no intention of killing his brother here.

At his command, all six automatons withdrew their weapons.

A pink-haired girl stepped forward, took the bottle, and handed it to Magnus.

"I'll accept this," Magnus said calmly.

Then he left with his automatons.

Emiya walked over to Raishin.

"Let's make a deal," he said.

"I'll help you grow strong enough to defeat Akabane Tenzen."

He met Raishin's eyes.

"In return, you convince Karyuusai Shouko to give me Adamantine Strength. Or at least lend me Yaya for a few days for research."

"What do you say?"

Raishin looked up sharply.

"You know who he is?"

"I know more than you think," Emiya replied.

"But what matters to you right now is revenge, isn't it?"

Raishin stayed silent.

"With my help," Emiya continued, "you can kill Akabane Tenzen in a short time-if you agree to my conditions."

Raishin was tempted.

But not convinced.

They had only met a few times.

They weren't friends.

"How do I know you're telling the truth?" Raishin asked.

"You saw Magnus's strength. As much as I hate to admit it, the gap between us is huge."

Emiya nodded.

"It is. But if I step in, I can bridge it."

Raishin still shook his head.

"Words aren't enough."

Emiya took out a ring and held it out.

"Put this on."

Raishin hesitated.

"What is it?"

He took it anyway.

Yaya immediately snatched it from his hand.

"Raishin, let me try!"

Before he could stop her, she slipped it onto her finger.

Her expression changed instantly.

Raishin grabbed her shoulders in alarm.

"Yaya! Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," she said, staring at the ring.

"Raishin... I feel stronger."

"What?"

"My body feels tougher," Yaya said. "Like I'm wearing invisible clothes."

Emiya nodded.

"That's the effect of the tool. It enhances the physical body, making ordinary people stronger."

"And it creates an invisible shield that can block bullets."

He added calmly.

"If you'd had it earlier, that blade wouldn't have hurt you. Yaya wouldn't have had to hesitate."

Yaya immediately removed the ring and handed it back.

"Raishin, you try."

Raishin slipped it onto his right index finger.

Power surged through him.

A thin, invisible armor wrapped around his body.

Stronger. Heavier. More solid.

Even his strength rose slightly.

"Incredible," Raishin said quietly.

Emiya nodded.

"With this, you're qualified to challenge Magnus."

"Just qualified."

"The gap is still enormous."

Raishin didn't argue.

Even with the ring, he'd only gained the right to stand on the battlefield.

But it was better than before.

Much better.

After a long pause, he spoke.

"I'll contact Miss Shouko."

"Good," Emiya said.

"I hope to meet Karyuusai Shouko soon."

He continued evenly.

"To be clear, I have no ill intentions toward her. I want Adamantine Strength."

"And I want her to work for me."

Raishin stared at him.

"You want to recruit her?"

"That's right."

"That won't be easy," Raishin said. "She won't work for someone with an unknown background."

Emiya smiled faintly.

"I can offer her benefits she won't be able to refuse."

Raishin fell silent.

Then-

Clap. Clap. Clap.

Applause echoed nearby.

"So the rumors were true," a voice said.

"It's only your fourth day here, and you're already targeting the Marshal."

Emiya and Raishin turned.

A handsome man stood there, long hair flowing.

Slender. Almost delicate.

His voice was clear and resonant, like a finely tuned instrument.

He smiled warmly and nodded to Raishin.

"A pleasure to meet you, Mr. Akabane."

"If you don't mind, may I take up a bit of your time?"

Seeing that the man wasn't here for him, Emiya turned away.

"Don't forget our agreement," he said to Raishin.

Then he left.
