Chapter 297 - Chapter 9: Alisa

Kimberly asked, "Why bring her up? Is she also involved?"

Emiya shook his head.

"No. That woman is already dead. Felix killed her before the Night Party even started. The one pretending to be her now is Felix's automaton-the Magic Devourer you've been trying to catch."

Kimberly froze.

The real Lisette Norton was dead?

And the Lisette Norton she had seen was the Magic Devourer in disguise?

The answer was almost impossible to accept.

"Do you have any proof of this?"

"Proof..." Emiya tapped his temple.

"I remember there should be a place in the school where replica automatons are stored."

Kimberly nodded.

"You mean the storage facility?"

"That's right," Emiya said.

"I remember Lisette Norton's body should be hidden there."

"Follow me!"

Since Emiya had explained things so clearly, Kimberly couldn't ignore it.

She immediately left the workshop with him.

The two passed the main lecture hall, went through the Clock Tower's backyard, crossed the headmaster's residence, and soon saw a cube-shaped building that looked like a giant tombstone.

It was the Important Automaton Storage Facility.

Inside were large numbers of automatons in a dormant state.

Completely defenseless.

With a single action, a dormant automaton could be destroyed.

That was why security here was extremely strict, and ordinary students were forbidden to enter.

When Kimberly and Emiya arrived, a fierce battle was already underway inside the facility.

On one side were the guards.

On the other were Akabane Raishin and Yaya.

Lisette Norton stood off to the side, not interfering in the fight.

"Stop! All of you!"

Kimberly raised her voice.

The guards immediately recognized her.

They exchanged glances and stopped their attacks.

Akabane Raishin reacted just as quickly.

"Yaya, stop!"

Yaya obeyed at once, retreating to Raishin's side.

She watched everyone around her with vigilance.

Including Emiya.

Lisette Norton walked up to Kimberly and whispered,

"Professor Kimberly, Akabane Raishin was trying to destroy the automatons here. The guards were only stopping him. I suspect he's connected to the Magic Devourer."

Akabane Raishin immediately snapped back,

"Professor, she's lying! That woman isn't Lisette Norton at all. The real Lisette Norton is dead. Her body is inside that safe. I just found out the truth and was ambushed by her. If not for the magic tool your assistant gave me, I'd already be dead."

Emiya remembered this part of the plot.

Raishin had discovered the truth, only to be ambushed and knocked unconscious.

But this time, the ring Emiya had given him activated.

The invisible shield saved his life.

And gave him enough time to call Yaya.

When Kimberly heard Raishin's words, her last doubts vanished.

"Open that safe," she ordered.

The guards stepped forward.

But at that moment, Lisette Norton's eyes narrowed.

Realizing the situation had turned against her, she moved.

She was an automaton.

Her physical abilities far exceeded those of a normal human.

Her ambush was instant.

"Watch out!"

Raishin had never taken his eyes off her.

The moment she moved, he shouted his warning.

But it was too late.

The Magic Devourer was already in front of Kimberly.

"Stop."

Emiya spoke calmly.

A telekinetic hand shot out.

It seized all four of the Magic Devourer's limbs and froze her in place.

She couldn't move.

At the same time, the safe was opened.

Inside was a massive glass cylinder.

Like an oversized test tube.

Liquid resembling formaldehyde filled it.

A naked girl floated inside, suspended like a specimen.

She wasn't an automaton.

Her chest was open.

Real organs.

Real flesh.

This was the real Lisette Norton.

The guards stared in shock.

Then they turned to look at the Lisette Norton Emiya was restraining.

They looked identical.

But one was a corpse.

Kimberly clicked her tongue.

"So you're the Magic Devourer."

The Magic Devourer's body suddenly liquefied, trying to slip free.

Emiya reacted instantly.

The telekinetic hand compressed into a telekinetic sphere, sealing the liquid inside.

She tried again.

And again.

She couldn't escape.

Kimberly glanced at Emiya.

Silently restraining the infamous Magic Devourer was not something an ordinary person could do.

Even now, she still couldn't tell how he had done it.

Was it space magic?

Her thoughts drifted to Emiya's dorm.

An invisible cage made of space itself.

It was a reasonable guess.

"What's your name?"

Kimberly asked while thinking.

The Magic Devourer stayed silent.

Akabane Raishin stepped forward.

"Your owner is Felix, right?"

The Magic Devourer raised her head.

Her form shifted.

Armor unfolded across her body.

She became a fully armed automaton.

Ancient armor.

A long sword in hand.

Her full-face helmet looked like an ogre's mask.

She slashed at the telekinetic sphere.

Once.

Twice.

It didn't budge.

"You're not answering?" Raishin asked.

She stopped.

"How foolish, Raishin. Why should I answer you?"

Raishin said quietly,

"Because at some point, I considered you a friend."

She fell silent.

"Then at least tell me your name."

After a brief pause, she spoke.

"Alisa."

Raishin nodded.

"Alright, Alisa. Then let me ask you something. Do you plan to drop out now? A tool can't choose its owner. You aren't guilty. No matter how many people you've killed, responsibility doesn't fall on you. Felix is the one at fault."

Her reply came instantly.

"Save your dreams for when you're sleeping, you maggot."

Sharp-tongued to the end.

Raishin didn't give up.

"Did that answer come from you?"

Alisa laughed softly.

She removed her helmet.

Lisette Norton's face appeared.

"You've misunderstood something."

Her blank expression twisted.

A devilish smile split her face.

Then she asked, sweetly,

"May I ask... do you hate to eat?"

Raishin closed his eyes.

He turned away.

He was done.

He faced Kimberly.

"Professor Kimberly, I suggest you arrest Felix immediately. If he escapes, the academy won't be able to explain it."

"Don't give me orders, you brat," Kimberly snapped.

Then she smirked.

"Since you're so eager, I'll leave it to you. I'll keep her automaton here. Don't tell me you can't handle an automaton maker who's lost his automaton."

Raishin laughed.

"Don't worry, Professor. Yaya."

"Yes, Raishin."

"Let's go."

And so, the protagonist and his companions set off-

To save the heroine.

And capture the minor villain.

Kimberly turned to Emiya.

"Now, can I trouble you to take this automaton and come with me to see the headmaster?"

Emiya nodded.

"Gladly."

The two left together, bringing the restrained automaton with them.

Emiya recalled the headmaster's name.

Edward Rutherford.

The strongest magician of the nineteenth century.

A man with nearly infinite mana.

And more importantly-

The current holder of the ultimate magic book.

The Key of Solomon.

Emiya took out his phone.

And called Loki.

A few seconds later, she answered.

Her voice was irritated.

"Emiya boy, do you know what time it is? Why are you calling so late?"

Emiya replied calmly,

"I have something to discuss."

"Tsk. What is it?"

"I'm on my way to meet the headmaster of the Royal Academy of Machinart."

"Edward Rutherford."
