Chapter 367: The Six Paths of Pain Attack Konoha Village
"These guys... they're Akatsuki!"
"Quick, go—ugh!"
Tendō Pain grabbed the speaking Konoha ninja by the throat. The other two immediately reacted—one rushing forward, the other turning to flee and report to the Hokage.
But before he could escape, a tall and burly figure suddenly appeared in front of him and stabbed a black rod straight into his heart.
The one charging Tendō Pain was also swiftly taken out.
"Where is the Nine-Tails?"
Tendō squeezed harder, veins bulging on the Konoha ninja's face, but he still gritted his teeth and claimed not to know.
Seeing this, Pain didn't bother asking again—he simply tightened his grip and crushed the man's neck.
In an instant, the three Konoha ninja stationed at the post were dead.
Against the Six Paths of Pain, ordinary shinobi stood no chance.
Li Yao, from within the interstitial space, sensed everything clearly.
Speed, strength—it was an insurmountable gap.
This time, he wanted to see for himself just how Konohamaru managed to kill one of the Pains.
BOOM!
BOOM!
Soon, loud explosions erupted in what had been a peaceful Konoha.
Boom boom!
Four enormous summoning beasts appeared all across the village.
One flew high in the air, dropping explosive bird-egg bombs.
One, shaped like a giant centipede, bulldozed through houses.
Another, a red hound with three heads, bit at anything that moved and clawed at everything in sight.
The last was a giant rhinoceros with a sharp horn, crashing and stampeding through the streets.
In addition to the beasts, Tendō Pain, Shuradō (Asura Path), and the other Pains, along with Konan, carried out an indiscriminate assault.
In an instant, screams echoed across the village.
"Dad…"
"Mom…"
"Nana…"
"Brother…"
Within moments, the attack by the Six Paths of Pain and Konan had claimed over a hundred lives in Konoha.
"It's Akatsuki!!"
"Damn it!!!"
"Stop them!"
Konoha's shinobi responded quickly—or rather, Konoha had always functioned as a military village. Even outside the official forces, nearly every household had at least one ninja.
Within two minutes of the attack, Konoha had begun organizing countermeasures.
But the attack had come too suddenly, and the Six Paths were no ordinary foes—especially Tendō Pain.
"Where is Uzumaki Naruto?"
Tendō seized another Konoha ninja and asked with the same cold tone. But he already knew no one would answer.
He wasn't really interrogating—he was punishing Konoha for their sins.
Squish!
Another black rod was casually thrust into the ninja's chest, and Tendō moved on to the next.
"So tragic…"
Inside the interstitial space, Li Yao and Jiraiya walked along the shattered streets of Konoha. Li Yao feigned sympathy.
Hmm… getting no response, Li Yao turned toward Jiraiya—only to raise an eyebrow in surprise.
Jiraiya had his hands behind his head, walking as if enjoying a stroll through the park.
Noticing Li Yao's stare, Jiraiya shrugged and smiled. "It doesn't matter anymore. I'm already dead."
"Heh."
Li Yao chuckled. Looks like the guy had reached a kind of spiritual collapse.
As they walked, they passed civilians crushed by debris, and shinobi slain by Pain.
Against the Six Paths, the average ninja was simply too weak.
Boom!
Boom!
Explosions echoed nonstop through Konoha. Five minutes in, no intact structure remained. Rubble littered every corner of the village.
"Wait… something's off. They're holding them back?"
After surveying the situation, Li Yao frowned. Things weren't unfolding quite as expected. Konoha was actually managing to hold the Six Paths at bay.
Aside from Tendō, the other Pains were being tied down. This bought time, and many villagers had already begun fleeing to designated shelters.
Tsunade stood atop the Hokage building, using a healing formation. Through summoned clones, she was treating the wounded across the village.
The situation had been stabilized—surprisingly fast.
"Hahahaha!"
Seeing this, Jiraiya laughed heartily. He looked at Li Yao with pride. "Don't underestimate Konoha's shinobi. We won't fall so easily."
"Yes, Pain is strong, but…" Jiraiya continued confidently, "I believe Konoha will survive this trial. The power of unity is something bastards like you will never understand."
He even took the chance to mock Li Yao.
"Unity… ha…"
Li Yao shook his head with a smirk. It was the joke of the century. In a world where personal strength reigned supreme, Jiraiya dared to preach about unity?
The guy clearly didn't know that, in the end, the fate of the ninja world would be decided by two dudes piloting chakra Gundams.
And his so-called "united masses"? They spent the final war dreaming in the Infinite Tsukuyomi, while the strongest few decided the future.
The only reason Pain's advance had been stalled was because Nagato still wasn't strong enough.
Li Yao had overlooked one thing—he had killed Danzō early in this timeline, causing Root to pledge allegiance to Tsunade.
It was this added force that helped Konoha resist further destruction.
"If you believe so strongly in unity, then I'll let you see it for yourself."
Li Yao smiled coldly. "In the face of overwhelming power, your so-called unity is nothing but an illusion. Time for a new opponent—me."
With that, he exited the interstitial space and used the Flying Thunder God Technique to vanish.
"Perfect!!"
Back in the interstitial space, Jiraiya grinned triumphantly.
He had been worried that such a dangerous monster would keep hiding in the shadows.
But if Li Yao fought in person, the village would finally notice him—and his abilities.
Once Konoha gathered intel on him, Jiraiya was confident they'd find a way to defeat him.
But after waiting a while and running through the ruins, Jiraiya saw no sign of Li Yao acting.
Was he bluffing?
No!
Jiraiya shook his head. Though they hadn't interacted much, he'd learned enough over the past few days to know: Li Yao was proud.
If he said he'd fight, he would.
So where did he go?
"Who are you?"
On a mountaintop outside Konoha, in a hidden tree hollow, Nagato was focusing on controlling the Six Paths of Pain.
Suddenly, a man appeared before him.
His expression changed instantly.
