Gage Grant certainly wasn't about to tell her that he had just watched the front gate's surveillance and found out she had returned last night at around ten and hadn't gone out since.
He chuckled quietly, "I was just joking, don't take it seriously."
Maeve didn't know what he was up to and couldn't be bothered to ask more, so she changed the subject, "Since it's clear I'm fine, you should head back. Don't you have work?"
"I left after eleven last night, didn't sleep all night, drove for five hours on the highway to get here, and now you want me to head back? What if something happens on the way?"
So, is he planning to stay over again?
Maeve felt a headache coming on and pressed her fingers to her temples, "Then get some rest in the guest room before heading back."
She stood up to clear the dishes, and Gage helped her, being very compliant and saying no more than necessary.
