The conversation inside came to an abrupt halt, and Assistant Collins turned back to look at Summer Lowell with a face full of surprise.
Having been an assistant for several years, it was the first time he encountered someone daring to barge into this study without knocking.
Maxim Sinclair seemed unfazed: "What's wrong? Did you leave something here?"
Summer was a bit annoyed too, wishing she had knocked first, then she would have known someone was inside, and she wouldn't have come in.
Assistant Collins stood up: "Ma'am."
Summer shook her head. She had gotten used to the title and no longer resisted it as she used to: "You guys continue chatting, I'm just here to grab something."
She walked over to the section deliberately set up to the east, pulled out a book she was halfway through, and left the study without looking back.
After the door was closed, a long time passed before Maxim Sinclair asked Assistant Collins: "Do you think she heard what we were talking about just now?"
