He had managed to narrowly stop the strike to his heart and neck by reacting at the last instant, raising his reinforced arm to block.
The price was devastating.
His wrist and elbow were nearly destroyed.
The final strike aimed at his head had missed the vital point by a hair's breadth, carving deep gashes across his forehead, nose, and cheeks instead. Blood streamed down his face, staining it completely red.
Nira knelt beside him, desperately trying to stop the bleeding. Her hands trembled as she poured every ounce of magic she had into healing whatever she could.
Tears welled in her eyes as she watched Dale in that state.
One moment, he had been perfectly fine—then, in the blink of an eye, he had been reduced to this.
