But to her surprise, he followed her inside.
And then he lay down on her bed.
For several seconds, she was frozen in shock, staring at the ceiling in stunned disbelief, as if it might collapse upon her at any moment. Her thoughts were tangled, and her heart pounded wildly in her chest.
Then when the shock finally faded, another thought emerged in her mind.
Maybe this was her chance.
So, she carefully slipped beside him. Her movements felt stiff and hesitant, every nerve tense with anticipation. She fully expected him to jump away, to pull back and retreat like he always had before.
