Crius blinked at him, his teeth stopping midway through biting into the apple before he slowly pulled it away. His eyes narrowed slightly as he took in Deimos's miserable appearance. "What do you mean?" he added, then paused, tilting his head. "Wait… why are your cheeks so red? Did someone slap you with their tiny hands?"
Deimos's face fell almost immediately, the color draining from it as the weight of the moment returned. "…Evangeline."
Crius blinked once, then twice, before something clicked into place. A slow nod followed, his expression shifting into one of understanding, though not the kind Deimos would have preferred. "Ah…" he exhaled. "You made another mistake, didn't you, Deimos?" His lips pressed into a thin line. "She slapped you?"
Deimos didn't answer, only pursing his lips tighter, which was answer enough.
