Liam pushed open the door to the lecture hall.
Late.
The hinges creaked. Loud. Every head in the room turned.
Miss Kelly was mid-sentence. Standing at the front of the class. White blouse tucked into a black pencil skirt that stopped just above her knees. Red heels. Her blonde hair pulled back in a loose ponytail. She paused. Looked at him.
The room went quiet.
Liam stood in the doorway for a second. Then walked in. His footsteps echoing on the tile floor.
Every eye followed him. Watching. Tracking his movement as he made his way down the aisle between the rows of seats.
Miss Kelly didn't say anything. Just watched. Then she went back to her lecture like nothing had happened.
"As I was saying, Plato's theory of Forms suggests that the material world is merely a shadow of a higher reality..."
Liam spotted Kelvin. Sitting near the middle. Slouched in his seat. Blue hoodie. Black jeans. He looked up as Liam approached.
