"Let's try something," Liam said.
Kelly lifted her head from the blanket and looked back at him over her shoulder. "What kind of something."
"Something different."
"Different how."
He tilted his head, the corner of his mouth pulling up. "Why do you sound so suspicious?"
"Because I know you." She narrowed her eyes. "That's why."
He laughed softly. "Didn't you always say you wanted to try new things?"
"I do." She kept her eyes on him, one brow arching up slowly. "That doesn't mean I trust that face you're making."
He grinned then, wide and unbothered, and she felt it before she could stop herself — that small tightening in her chest she never quite got used to. She squinted at him.
"Okay," she said finally.
"Okay." He shifted closer. "Then turn around first."
She turned and sat facing him, her coat falling open around her, hair loose around her shoulders. She looked at him, waiting for the rest of it.
He looked at her for a moment.
