The question sounded so loud in James's ears that he instinctively pulled the phone away from his ear before glancing at the screen again for confirmation.
Just like before, it was still Malvin Young, and a knowing glint flashed briefly across his eyes. Since when had he ever allowed himself to become someone who could easily be manipulated?
"I?" James repeated slowly while leaning back slightly. "Testify against him? Why exactly would I do that?"
"Of course," Malvin replied smoothly through the phone. "He married your adoptive daughter and yet failed to acknowledge her publicly as Luna and his mate. Shouldn't that naturally concern you as her father?"
James chuckled softly at those words.
"I was genuinely concerned at first," he admitted calmly. "But as you already know, I was stripped of my titles long ago and forced to live as an ordinary man. Therefore, I have no right to accuse a supreme alpha… especially not before the council itself."
