Chapter 10 - A New Hope

After the horrific series of deaths at the hands of the supreme entity, Hegemon sat numbly on the wooden floor, his shirt drenched in cold sweat. Lily's voice brought him back to reality. Looking at his companion with profound respect, Hegemon knew he couldn't make another mistake. He immediately focused his mind to re-analyze the entire situation.

"The mastermind, a dark-skinned loli with overwhelming power, knows brainwashing and disguises herself as you to frame you. If he gets into the Forbidden Library, everything will be over," Hegemon said sternly to Lily. "We can't stand idly by. I'll ask the Elf mages to ambush him at the village gate. But first, we must find a way to expose his disguise."

Hegemon then sought out the mages in the village. Hearing his warning about a hidden danger, an Elf mage named Esktra thoughtfully said:

"Distinguishing the use of disguise spells isn't actually difficult. Like a kind of code, we just need to write special symbols with magic on the clothes or bodies of everyone in the village. Ordinary disguise spells only copy the default appearance of the target, so this method of countering them is very effective. However..." Esktra suddenly lowered his voice, his expression becoming serious. "Disguise spells also have many dark forms. There are types of dark magic that directly take the body of a recently deceased victim to merge with. If the perpetrator uses this method, all the markings on the victim's old body will remain, rendering ordinary tracking spells ineffective..."

Esktra's words sent a shiver down Hegemon's spine, recalling the events of the past, when the villain transformed from Lily's "impersonating corpse." He turned to look at Lily, subtly gesturing. Hegemon wanted Lily to search through the infinite "Treasure of Knowledge" within her soul to uncover the origins of all information about these evil disguise spells.

However, knowing the nature of the magic was one thing, but the more difficult problem was physical strength: A powerful master from the village was needed to subdue and defeat the terrifying entity.

At this moment, another Elf girl named Yuki, who had been observing them, looked at them with a questioning expression: "Hey Hegemon, Esktra, what serious matter are you two discussing? Is an enemy about to attack the village?"

Esktra nodded in agreement, her scrutinizing gaze directed at Hegemon. To protect the timeline and avoid triggering the law of cause and effect, Hegemon couldn't reveal the truth.

He skillfully evaded the question, then tried to probe and extract information from them: "I'm just concerned about the village's safety. By the way, who is considered the strongest warrior in our tribe right now?"

Yuki chuckled, proudly explaining that the Elf tribe wasn't lacking in talent. However, the tribe's geniuses often tended to venture out into the world. Even so, there was a special magical link between them and the village; they could instantly return at any time if they received an emergency signal.

To prove it, Yuki and Esktra led Hegemon deep into a secret cave behind the village.

Entering an ancient chamber hidden deep underground, Hegemon was astonished to see a brightly lit magic circle in the center. He immediately understood: "This is... a teleportation circle?"

"Exactly," Esktra said proudly, pointing to the circle. "This is an ancient teleportation point, only those with Elf blood can activate it."

Yuki quickly interjected, her face full of pride: "The original creator of this formation was our ancestor.

But the one who modified and upgraded it to its current greatness is an outstanding talent from my own family! His full name is Tusuki Kenji."

Hearing this name, Yuki's eyes lit up: "Kenji was a swordsmanship genius from a young age.

He's currently out on adventures and holds the prestigious title of Western Holy Swordsman. He occasionally uses this teleportation point to return to the village."

Hegemon frowned worriedly: "But how can you be sure he can come to our rescue right now? What if he's in danger?"

Yuki smiled, pulling a stone emitting a soft, vibrant blue light from her bosom: "The reason I know he's safe and sound is because I hold his soul gem. This gem is directly linked to Kenji's life. It will tell me whether he's alive or dead. As soon as I activate this gem and transmit a signal through the magic circle, our strongest Holy Sword will return in an instant!"

Looking at the soul gem in Yuki's hand, Hegemon clenched his fist.

The trump card to turn the tide against the dark-skinned loli mastermind had finally appeared.
