There's a moment of silence.
Zander prepares for the anger, the disgust, hell even expects food to fly. Surely his parents won't accept this. They've pushed and pushed for Zander to marry an omega, wanting grandchildren to spoil. There is no way they will accept him imprinting on a beta.
Zander's parents exchange looks, his mother's frown deep as her eyebrows furrow. His mother least of all. She comes from a traditional family, where dynamics are more than roles.
"He's not an omega?" She asks slowly. She blinks at her son, her eyes giving nothing away. She clears her throat and reaches for her wine glass. She's never been a violent woman, a stern one yes, but never violent. However, Zander fully expects her to throw her drink at him.
He's seen it in the movies, and maybe thats his mistake because she doesn't toss it at him. Instead, with feminine grace, she takes a small sip, the silence heavy in the dining room.
