Chapter 266: The God-Slaying Spear Technique
"Hahaha... Pff!" Kisame coughed up a mouthful of blood, the taste of rust filling his mouth. Despite the pain, he was unafraid, bracing his right hand on his knee and standing up.
"Creak, creak." The Samehada, struck directly by the Empire Strike, was in a pitiful state, its spiny scales shattered and falling off like a chicken plucked halfway through. It was an unsightly mess.
"Wow..." Even the Samehada was spitting blood, the sword handle extending as Kisame knocked it against his head.
"Sorry, Samehada..." Kisame tossed the blade back onto the shore, deciding to attack on his own. As for merging with Samehada, he wasn't planning to use that technique just yet.
Today's match was merely a friendly sparring session with a new comrade, but the pain from his injuries only served to stir the blood within him.
"Scáthach -, next is my strongest move. Let this strike be the deciding blow!"
"Alright." Scáthach agreed calmly.
Kisame joined his hands together, beginning to refine the remaining chakra within his body.
Meanwhile, Scáthach stood still, calmly awaiting Kisame's ultimate attack.
"Bang!"
Kisame clasped his hands into a fist, "Water Style—Great Shark Bullet!"
A giant blue shark, over ten meters long, with sharp teeth, roared and charged toward Scáthach .
The giant shark sliced through the sea, its sharp teeth cutting through the ocean currents, leaving behind white streaks.
"The Great Shark Bullet is no ordinary jutsu. This technique can absorb the power of an opponent's technique to increase its own power. The stronger the opponent's technique, the stronger the Great Shark Bullet!" Kisame kindly explained the technique, warning the newly-joined Scáthach .
"Is that so?" Scáthach responded expressionlessly, bending her legs, preparing to dash forward.
"Hey—don't tell me you're going to charge in?!" Kisame yelled. "You'll be torn apart by the Great Shark Bullet!"
"Bang!" The ground beneath Scáthach 's feet collapsed, and she dashed forward with the force of the storm, her ominous magic spear glowing brightly. The dazzling light captivated everyone's gaze.
"!" Kisame knew that showing respect to a warrior meant using all of his strength.
"Ha!" Kisame roared, slamming his fists forward. Ten fingers clamped together like a bite, sending the Great Shark Bullet toward Scáthach .
"I am the spear!" Scáthach , along with her spear, transformed into a streak of red lightning.
This red lightning was different from Eric 's thunder; it lacked the rumbling thunder and the sky-darkening aura. But in such intense light, everyone's gaze was locked on that streak of lightning.
The red lightning was like the first ray of sunlight breaking through the world's darkness, dazzling, as Scáthach 's unparalleled spear technique deeply captivated everyone's attention.
The giant water shark opened its massive jaws, roaring fiercely, about to snap shut and tear Scáthach in two.
"Boom, boom, boom!"
The red lightning surged with god-killing power, shooting into the shark's mouth like a meteor falling into the sea. With unstoppable momentum, it continued forward and finally shot out of the shark's tail, crashing through the waves!
The red lightning tore through the water, and not a single drop of water touched Scáthach . With overwhelming force, it charged straight toward Kisame.
"!" The last time Kisame encountered such an overwhelming attack was when Might Guy opened the Eighth Gate with his daytime tiger.
'No, her gunshot is even stronger than the daytime tiger!' Shocked by the god-slaying power, Kisame stood rooted to the spot.
A concentrated thunder strike is naturally more powerful than a wide-ranging attack like the daytime tiger.
"Clang!"
The sharp spear tip stopped just in front of Kisame's forehead. Even though there was a small gap, he could feel the cold air emanating from the tip of the spear.
"—Such powerful spear skills." Facing this god-like technique, Kisame could only yield.
"Whoosh~"
The water that had been shattered by Scáthach began to flow again, as the sea began to fill in the gap she had created.
"Shadow Warrior."
In front of Kisame, Scáthach transformed into a black shadow.
"Hmm?"
Seeing how Scáthach disliked the seawater, Kisame shrugged. "Even a woman with such power dislikes seawater? I really did wrong by you earlier."
◇
"So, are you okay?" Eric looked at Kisame, who was covered in blood.
"Yeah, I just need to repair Samehada..." Kisame stroked Samehada, clearly distressed.
"...No need for that, Kurumi, can you do it?"
"Ah, since it's Eric -'s request, I guess I have no choice..." Kurumi stepped forward, her right leg moving gracefully. She spun around elegantly, her spirit armor manifesting partially.
"Zafkiel—Fourth Bullet!" Even her angel appeared partially, shooting the "IV" bullet into Samehada.
"Creak, creak."
In Kisame's eyes, it looked like time had reversed, with the broken spines flying back onto Samehada from afar.
"Oh—what a powerful ability!" Kisame's eyes widened. "Time reversal ability?"
[Kisame's Affinity increased, Bond Level raised from 1 (Friend) to 2 (Close Friend), gaining 1 Bond Point.]
"…Ninjas really are skilled in gathering intelligence. After just seeing the ability once, you immediately deduced it."
"This is a basic lesson for ninjas…"
"..." Eric thought of Naruto, chuckling...
Honestly, if it weren't for him being the protagonist with that shining protagonist aura, he would have died countless times by now.
Kisame turned to Kurumi and thanked her, "Thanks a lot, miss…"
Kurumi lifted her skirt, "From now on, please call me Miss Tokisaki. Since we're comrades, we can't be strangers, right?"
"I understand, Miss Tokisaki." Kisame chuckled, "This isn't the Ninja World, so there's no need to hide your last name. It's nice."
The rumbling sound and the vibrations of the ground caught Kisame's attention.
The giant chunk of earth that Wendy had lifted slowly started to fall back down, shaking the ground as it did, even at such a slow pace.
Kisame, witnessing this, thought that even if the little blue-haired girl couldn't fight, controlling such a massive rock to crush an enemy would be enough to give them a headache.
"That..." Wendy, seeing Kisame wounded from the fight, quickly approached after settling the ground.
"Splash!" A pit caused by the water bullets was filled with seawater, and Wendy, not paying attention, tripped on the uneven ground.
'This girl is a bit of an airhead...'
Later, Kisame's wounds were fully healed by Wendy's "healing."
Kisame stretched his shoulders, "Our team is really well-rounded, this little—"
"Ah, my name is Wendy Marvell, the ship's doctor."
"Is that so? Please take care of me, adorable Wendy the ship doctor."
◇
Scáthach , who had finished the fight with Kisame, still stood where she was, silently staring at the long spear in her hand.
"What's wrong?" Esdeath, admiring her spear skills, slowly approached, "Did you learn a new technique during the fight?"
"No." Scáthach responded indifferently, "I was just thinking about how to perfect my spear skills, to use that god-slaying strike."
"If you really master that level, you must fight me once."
"Of course."
