Chapter 400: Thunder God's Arena
Mason Chu's expression shifted from surprise to grim intensity.
Looking at the stance Kenji and Electivire had taken, he knew this wasn't just
another combo. The Thunder God's Arena was clearly the beast's ultimate ace, the
final card tucked at the bottom of the deck.
ZZZZZT!!! —
KRA-KOOM!!!! —
The already violent currents coating Electivire's body suddenly spiraled out of
control. The sound of electricity wasn't just a hum anymore; it was a rhythmic,
screaming roar of raw power.
In the next heartbeat, the energy detonated. A towering spire of lightning
erupted from Electivire's core, shooting straight into the ceiling of the
facility. The beast stood at the epicenter, completely submerged in a roiling
ocean of golden voltage.
As Electivire continued to pump its reserves into the sky, the Lucario on the
field tensed, its fur standing on end. Its Aura was screaming at it, a desperate
warning of a catastrophe currently in gestation.
"AKA!!! —"
Lucario let out a sharp cry, using its Aura to transmit a frantic warning to
Mason.
In truth, Mason didn't need the warning. Even from the trainer's box, the air
felt heavy, saturated with static that made the hair on his arms rise. He didn't
know exactly what this "Arena" was, but he knew that letting Electivire complete
the setup would be a death sentence for his team.
Above the field, the ceiling lights flickered and died. In their place, a
swirling vortex of pitch-black storm clouds began to form, condensed from the
sheer volume of energy Electivire was venting.
Within the clouds, golden lightning, as thick and muscular as ancient pythons,
writhed and coiled, gathering strength for a strike that promised to be
absolute.
"Lucario!! Aura Sphere!!"
"AKA!!!! —"
Lucario raised its paws, launching a blue orb of energy at the lightning pillar.
It was a futile effort. The Aura Sphere didn't even reach the beast; as it
touched the perimeter of the lightning spire, the raw electrical discharge
simply vaporized the psychic energy into nothingness.
Mason grit his teeth.
"Lucario! Maximum output!! Super Aura Sphere!!!"
"AKA!!!! —"
Lucario roared, its legs bracing against the floor. It adopted its familiar
charging stance, but instead of firing immediately, it held the orb. Its entire
body began to glow with a brilliant blue light as it funneled every ounce of its
life force into the sphere.
Under the weight of its Aura, the ball expanded. It grew from the size of a bowl
to the size of Lucario itself, a pulsing star of focused will.
Simultaneously, Electivire's preparation reached its zenith.
"AKA!!!! —"
With a final, desperate shove, Lucario launched the massive Super Aura Sphere.
The effort left the Champion-rank warrior panting, its breath coming in ragged
gasps. This wasn't just a move; it was a nuke. Mason was certain that even
through Thunder Armor, nothing could take this hit and remain standing.
But as the blue sun raced toward Electivire, the storm clouds above finally
reacted.
A massive bolt of lightning, as thick as a structural pillar, crashed down from
the vortex. Its target wasn't the ground—it was the Super Aura Sphere.
CRACK-KRA-KOOM!!!! —
The two forces collided mid-air. The lightning pythons tore into the Aura,
creating a localized atmospheric collapse.
Static electricity filled the arena, leaping between the walls and the floor.
Waves of psychic and electrical energy rippled outward, clashing in a blinding
kaleidoscopic display.
BOOM!!!! —
With a roar that shook the entire facility, the explosion detonated.
CRACK!!!! —
The audience in the gallery cried out in terror. The protective energy
shield—the one rated to withstand any move below Master-rank—suddenly emitted
a sharp, crystalline snapping sound.
Dozens of deep fissures spider-webbed across the translucent dome, and stray
arcs of electricity began to leak through the cracks.
The stadium's emergency protocols triggered instantly. The barrier groaned as
the systems poured power into the "Emergency Repair" mode, desperately trying to
stabilize the field so the match could continue.
It was a catastrophic drain on the facility's resources; this match was
effectively destroying a multi-million-dollar arena in real-time.
But neither Kenji nor Mason had the bandwidth to care about the property damage.
The blinding light finally faded. The black storm clouds had vanished, their
energy spent.
But the arena was no longer the same. The field was now completely encased in a
shimmering, grid-like cage of solid electricity. The air within the cage was an
incandescent yellow, buzzing with enough voltage to melt iron.
Within this localized dimension, only two combatants remained.
One was Electivire. The other was Lucario.
Lucario tried to step back, but it suddenly stiffened. Yellow sparks danced
across its blue fur, its muscles locking up involuntarily.
Status: Paralyzed!!!
"ELE-BZZZT!!!! —"
On the other side of the cage, Electivire slowly opened its eyes.
The black-and-red pupils were gone. In their place were two pools of pure,
brilliant, glittering gold—eyes that looked as if they were made of liquid
lightning.
THUD!!! —
Electivire took a single step forward. As if responding to its master's
movement, a bolt of lightning materialized out of the air within the arena,
lashing out at Lucario like a whip.
Lucario's pupils shrank. In a display of sheer willpower, it forced its
paralyzed limbs to move, firing a quick Aura Sphere to intercept the bolt.
The battle in the Thunder God's Arena had only just begun.
