Chapter 401: Electivire!! Victory!
BOOM!!!!! —
Lucario shattered the incoming lightning bolt with a focused pulse of energy,
but the tension on its face didn't fade for a second.
Through its Aura, Lucario could still sense a gargantuan threat. And this threat
wasn't coming from any specific direction. It was coming from... everywhere at
once!!!
To be precise, the entire Thunder God's Arena felt like a predator's maw closing
around it.
The Thunder God's Arena was the ultimate manifestation of Electivire's power. By
detonating every spark of energy within its core, it had created a localized
dimension governed solely by the laws of lightning.
Within this cage, every Pokémon (except Electivire) was subjected to constant,
nerve-locking paralysis. Furthermore, Electivire possessed absolute spatial
authority; with a single thought, it could manifest a lightning strike from any
coordinate within the arena.
Here, electricity was the supreme law. And Electivire was its God—the absolute
ruler and judge of this domain.
STEP—
Electivire took a single step forward. It looked like a casual walk, but in the
warped reality of the Arena, it was a localized warp. In the time it took for
its foot to touch the ground, Electivire had already materialized directly in
front of Lucario.
Lucario's pupils shrank. Even with its Aura acting as a high-speed radar, it
hadn't been able to process the "frame-skip" of the beast's movement.
Outside the barrier, Mason Chu gasped. He hadn't seen any muscles coil or any
burst of energy. The beast had simply "arrived."
"ELE-BZZZT!!! —"
"AKA!!! —"
Electivire raised a fist. A Thunder Punch—carrying the combined weight of the
entire Arena's energy—was hammered down toward Lucario's head.
Lucario tried to react, but the Paralysis chose that exact microsecond to flare
up. Its joints locked, its muscles refusing to fire.
In a duel between gods, a second of hesitation is an eternity.
KRA-KOOM!!!! —
The Thunder Punch connected squarely with Lucario's chest. The kinetic force was
so immense it didn't just knock the wind out of the Aura warrior; it launched
the Pokémon across the arena like a ragdoll.
"AKA!!!! —"
Lucario was sent flying, smashing violently into the glowing grid of the
electric wall.
The moment it touched the cage, the grid flared. Arcs of high-voltage lightning
lashed out, delivering a secondary, agonizing shock to the pinned Pokémon.
Zzzzt-SNAP!
Lucario was violently repelled by the wall, falling to its knees on the scorched
floor. It clutched its chest, gasping for air, its face a mask of pure agony.
"Lucario!!! Final Gambit!!!"
"AKA!!!! —"
Lucario forced itself to stand. Its body was swaying, its vision likely
blurring, but the fire in its eyes was a conflagration. It locked its sharp gaze
on Electivire, its spirit hardening into a weapon.
In the next instant, Lucario spread its arms. A blinding mixture of
Fighting-type energy and raw Aura erupted from its core, turning the Pokémon
into a pillar of incandescent blue light.
Final Gambit. The ultimate sacrifice. The user burns every remaining drop of its
life force to deliver one final, unavoidable strike. After the attack, the user
will be completely unable to battle.
"Electivire!! Wild Charge!!"
"ELE-BZZZT!!!! —"
Facing the kamikaze strike, Kenji didn't order a defense. Electivire had spent
most of its energy maintaining the Arena; it didn't have enough left for a
second round. This was the final exchange.
Electivire roared, and the lightning from the Arena walls began to flow into its
palms, condensing into a roaring star of golden voltage.
BOOM!!!! —
The two warriors launched at each other.
The Aura-clad hero and the Thunder Tyrant met in the center of the Thunder God's
Arena.
Just as the name of the space implied, this was the final judgment.
KRA-KOOM!!!!! —
Aura met Lightning. The brilliant gold of the thunder and the crystalline blue
of the Aura struggled for dominance, tearing at each other in a chaotic swirl of
energy that filled the entire dimension.
But in this Arena, Electivire held the home-field advantage.
BANG!!!! —
The violent thunder finally crushed the Aura. The golden tide expanded, washing
over the blue light and swallowing it whole. The entire battlefield was
submerged in a sea of blinding electricity.
...
When the air finally stilled and the light faded, the Thunder God's Arena had
vanished.
The field was a scorched ruin. In the center of a blackened crater, Lucario lay
motionless, its body covered in heavy burns. Faint golden sparks still danced
across its fur, the remnants of the Arena's judgement.
"ELE-BZZZT!!!! —"
Electivire had reverted from its Thunder Armor state. It looked profoundly
exhausted, its golden eyes returning to their normal hue. Every ounce of its
electrical reserve had been spent in that final clash. It panted heavily, its
stomach growling audibly as its body demanded a massive influx of nutrients to
replenish its core.
"Lucario is unable to battle!!! Electivire wins the round!!"
"Return, Lucario."
"You too, Electivire. Take a long rest."
Both trainers recalled their partners.
To have taken down Excadrill and then an Elite-rank Lucario? Electivire had more
than earned its glory today. Kenji was incredibly satisfied.
"Go!! Magnezone!!"
"I'm counting on you! Ninetales!!"
