Chapter 406: Conqueror's Infusion!!! The Ace Steelix Takes the Field!
"Kingambit!! Three-Blade Style!!"
"PU-JUN!!!! —"
Kingambit let out a thunderous war cry. In the next instant, the massive golden
cleaver on its head and the two black, beard-like blades on its jaw erupted with
a blinding, multi-colored radiance.
The three blades each carried a different elemental signature. The central
golden blade was wreathed in Steel-type energy, channeling Iron Head. The two
side blades glowed with Dark and Poison energy, respectively, preparing a
simultaneous Night Slash and Poison Jab.
Kenji whistled in admiration. Using three distinct moves simultaneously was a
feat of coordination very few Pokémon could achieve. As expected of a
Master-rank general, Kingambit's tactical depth was immense.
In the next heartbeat, the "Three-Blade" general lunged.
Gyarados met the charge, and the two collided in a high-speed melee brawl.
This time, Kingambit was visibly more cautious. Having felt the destructive
weight of Gyarados's aura-infused strikes, it avoided direct trades, using its
three blades to parry and redirect the serpent's tail while looking for a
surgical opening with its claws.
The exchange was frantic.
Kingambit had fought by Mason Chu's side for decades, and its mastery over its
weaponry was absolute. Every block was efficient; every counter was calculated.
But Gyarados was a different breed of fighter. Despite starting with lower
potential, it had been the most dedicated member of Kenji's team. Since the day
it evolved, it had seen more "life-or-death" combat than most Pokémon saw in a
lifetime.
Even at twenty meters tall, its agility mirrored a much smaller Pokémon. It wove
through the three-blade assault with predatory fluidness, its scales deflecting
the blades that it couldn't dodge.
BANG!!!! —
After a series of bone-rattling trades, the general was the first to break.
Kingambit retreated, using a burst of speed to reset the distance. Its
expression was grim, and its movements were noticeably slower. The stamina drain
of maintaining the Three-Blade Style against an infused opponent was heavy.
In contrast, while Gyarados had taken several hits, the green light of the
Radiant Bloodthirster was constantly pulsing across its body. Minor gashes were
sealing up in real-time, and its stamina was being replenished with every hit it
landed.
Mason Chu realized with a jolt of alarm that in a war of attrition, he would
lose. Gyarados's self-healing was simply too potent.
I have to end this now, Mason decided. If I don't force a knockout, he'll just
heal back to full.
"Kingambit!! Triple Blade: Soul-Severing Guillotine!!!"
Forced into a corner, Mason ordered his partner's ultimate finisher.
The Soul-Severing Guillotine was a high-level combo based on the Three-Blade
Style, integrated with the move Guillotine. It was a high-risk, all-or-nothing
strike designed to end the target's life in a single cross-cut.
Kingambit dropped to one knee, the three blades on its head and jaw aligning
perfectly with Gyarados's position. It began to hum with a dark, concentrated
energy, gathering every ounce of its power for the final strike.
"Gyarados!! Infused Hydro Comet!!!"
Kenji doubled down. He stuck with his signature move but added the full weight
of his partner's aura.
Gyarados soared into the air, its water veil churning with enough violence to
pulverize solid rock into dust.
BOOM!!! —
Both Pokémon launched simultaneously. They moved so fast they created a vacuum
in the arena. Within a breath, they met in the center of the field.
KRA-KOOM!!!!!!! —
The explosion was cataclysmic. Gyarados, encased in a sapphire-and-aura meteor,
slammed into the synchronized cross-cut of Kingambit's three blades.
The two forces locked in a desperate struggle. For a full second, the world
seemed to stand still as they fought for a single inch of ground.
BANG!!!! —
The equilibrium shattered. Gyarados was launched backward by the kinetic
feedback, its massive frame skidding across the arena.
But Kingambit fared much worse. The general was launched like a projectile,
screaming through the air until it slammed into the energy barrier with a
sickening THUD.
The armored Pokémon slid to the floor, coming to rest at the very edge of the
arena. It tried to push itself up, its hands clawing at the dirt, but its body
finally failed. Its head slumped to the side, and it lost consciousness.
On the other side, Gyarados stood tall. It wasn't unscathed—the Guillotine
strike had left a deep, jagged scar across its torso—but the serpent's eyes were
still bright. If anything, the pain had only sharpened its bloodlust.
"Kingambit is unable to battle!! Gyarados wins the round!!"
"Return, Kingambit."
Mason Chu recalled his general, his face pale. He was down to his final partner.
His absolute Ace.
"The time for games is over. Rise!!! Steelix!!!"
THUD!!!! —
The ball burst, and a massive, gray, bipedal serpent made of interlocking steel
segments emerged. It had a flattened head and a set of terrifying, jagged jaws.
Steelix, the Iron Snake Pokémon.
In the wild, Steelix lived deeper underground than any other species. Their
bodies were forged by intense heat and crushing pressure until their skin became
denser than diamond.
Mason's Steelix was a legend. At Level 99, its body was likely the hardest
biological matter on the planet. Its size was staggering—even larger than
Kenji's Gyarados. While a standard Steelix was ten meters long, this one was
nearly double that.
"By the bond that mirrors the hardness of diamond! Let our spirit become iron!!
MEGA EVOLVE!!!!!!! Steelix!!!"
