Chapter 301 - Chapter 300: Leaving Home

After confirming the operation time, everyone headed towards the Engineering Department.

After all, there were many newcomers in the team, and they were still unfamiliar with the preparations needed for an external mission that required staying out for a period of time. So, following the seniors to the Engineering Department for supplies was naturally the best choice.

Only Kanna didn't go along, because the only weapon she needed, Nian, had already said she would bring it from Vulcan tomorrow morning. Kanna's other supply needs weren't great, so she planned to go back and prepare two more changes of clothes and then ask Kaltsit for some funds.

After all, being fully charged, she could survive without eating, relying on her internal energy, but there were so many people in the team. As a captain, there would always be some meals out, and it would be a bit awkward if she couldn't pull out a single coin from her bag.

Just as she was happily organizing her clothes in her room, the system suddenly chimed "ding-dong" and a message popped up.

Kanna opened the system and saw, "Congratulations on completing the achievement — Leaving Home (Completion Condition: Patriot Brozkarst leaves Ursus.)"

When Kanna saw this message, she was stunned for a moment. The first thought that popped into her head was, does this system even have achievements?

Then she realized that Patriot and his group had apparently arrived in Iberia. According to the agreement between Rhodes Island and Brozkarst, after the Infected successfully settled, Reunion Movement would officially disband. Those who wished to continue bearing arms would join the Iberian government army, while those unwilling to join would come to Rhodes Island for employment.

At the time, the meaning of this treaty was quite clear to everyone. Given Brozkarst's identity and strength, even if he wanted to stay, it would be very troublesome. The Iberian government had already taken a huge international risk by sheltering Reunion Movement and these Infected Refugees. After these people settled, his only outcome would be to leave.

Aside from living under a false identity, and aside from non-profit organizations like Rhodes Island, other countries would absolutely not openly accept Brozkarst unless they were prepared to go to war with Ursus. After all, Ursus's "Patriot" joining another country's official forces would be a blatant slap in Ursus's face.

Moreover, the current Brozkarst was completely different from a normal Terra person. His current appearance would inevitably cause a stir if he joined another organization.

So, the actual meaning of this treaty was that Rhodes Island would guarantee the safety and supplies of this Infected team throughout their journey, in exchange for Patriot joining Rhodes Island after the Infected officially settled in Iberia.

Kanna also believed that, thanks to the "specially" built camaraderie between Rhodes Island Operators and Reunion Movement's cadres along the way, many who were unwilling to join the Iberian government would choose Rhodes Island.

And Kanna wasn't wrong. On the other side, after Patriot announced that his deputy, Ivan, would fully take over the team and become the first mayor of the newly established settlement, which was already largely built, the cadres all agreed to sign Operator contracts with Rhodes Island. However, some, like Big Bob, although signing the contract, chose not to go to Rhodes Island but to remain in the town.

Firstly, to assist Ivan in maintaining order.

Secondly, Rhodes Island, as a landship, couldn't fulfill his dream of building an Originium Bug brewery, so he planned to establish his desired Originium Bug farm in Iberia.

Among the others, including Mudrock and Red, all followed the last batch of Rhodes Island supply vehicles back to Rhodes Island.

However, Rhodes Island was unaware that just as all of the Rhodes Island contingent left and the new town was in its nascent stages, a woman named Jiu, with her powerful administrative talents, suddenly emerged among the Infected and quickly rose to the position of deputy mayor... Meanwhile, Kanna, after seeing the achievement, encountered a major crisis.

The achievement system came with a troublesome reward for her — a Magnemite Production Base.

The system explained that the Magnemite Production Base was a non-movable item and had to be installed in a chosen room. Once installed, as long as there was sufficient electricity, one Magnemite could be produced from it daily.

When Kanna saw this, she wasn't initially worried, but the system suddenly informed her that this reward had to be retrieved and installed within one week. If not retrieved within a week, it would automatically install itself randomly within five hundred meters of her.

Normally, Kanna wouldn't be in a hurry, but the current situation was that she had to leave early tomorrow morning, and it was already late evening.

One week was only enough time to reach her destination, so the only time left to install this production base was tonight.

The key was that this thing couldn't just be shoved into any random room. After all, while Rhodes Island had many empty rooms, there was no guarantee that new Operators wouldn't arrive and be assigned to them.

Moreover, from Kanna's perspective, even if she secretly found a place to install it, it would definitely be impossible to keep it a secret in the end. After thinking it over, she opened her personal terminal and contacted Amiya.

"Amiya, are you there?!"

"Kanna? I'm in the Control Room. What's up?"

"Well, I'd like to urgently request a private, unoccupied room, if possible?"

"A private, empty room, you say? We do have some, but what do you need it for?"

"Hmm… breeding? Probably!"

"??? Aren't you going on an external mission tomorrow? You want a room for breeding tonight? What are you breeding? If it's not dangerous, I can help take care of it for you while you're away." Amiya was a bit confused after hearing Kanna's words. After all, she knew Kanna was leaving for an external mission tomorrow morning, and she had never seen Kanna keep any small animals on Rhodes Island. At this moment, she just assumed Kanna had caught an Originium Bug or gotten a potted plant. She could certainly help take care of those two things, as many children with large enough orders in various countries on Terra also liked to keep them.

"Uh, I definitely need your help with the care, but I still absolutely need a room." Kanna conveyed to Amiya that she needed her help, but still insisted on an empty room… After a moment of silence, Amiya's voice came through the terminal again.

"Alright, there are currently three unoccupied empty rooms suitable for breeding that I can approve for you directly: one near the factory area on the lowest level, one next to the Engineering Department on the middle level, and a separate empty house not far from the Greenhouse in the upper level. Which one do you need?"

After some operations, Amiya brought up three rooms she thought were suitable for "breeding." Although these three locations were in the high, middle, and low-level zones, they were all close to the outermost area, allowing a direct view of the outside through the windows.
