"Magnemite? Pokémon!"
Amiya and the Doctor quickly caught the key points in Kanna's words.
"You mean this is also a type of Pokémon like Frostnova?" the Doctor asked.
"Uh… if we're talking about biological types, Magnemite and Captain Brozkarst should be considered the same type, belonging to non-living form Pokémon."
Considering there isn't a second Steel/Ghost type currently, and the Electric/Steel Magnemite does indeed visually resemble Brozkarst's biological form.
"Can we see its power?" Compared to Amiya, who was still in shock, the Doctor recovered more quickly. As the combat commander, although he hadn't seen many Pokémon, from Brozkarst, Frostnova, and Block, he had seen so far, a Pokémon's inherent strength shouldn't be too bad.
So, if they could be mass-produced and if their combat power was sufficient, he could consider whether these Pokémon could become a fighting force for Rhodes Island.
Even if they couldn't be widely adopted, they could be provided to Rhodes Island's Elite Operators or replace some guard duties.
"Power, you ask? This thing was just born, it only knows a couple of moves. After some training and once it gets stronger, it should be able to learn more skills. How about this, Magnemite, use all the skills you know on me."
Kanna didn't remember Magnemite's skill set too clearly, but since it was an Electric type, basic discharge was a given. However, as Kanna, who feeds on lightning, she wasn't afraid of being attacked by Magnemite, so she directly told it to attack her.
After hearing Kanna's words, Magnemite hesitated. After all, as a newborn, it didn't expect the first command from its "Trainer" to be to attack her… Magnemite indicated that from the messages passed down through its "bloodline," such a request was unheard of… After realizing Kanna hadn't changed her command, Magnemite no longer deliberated. A flash of electricity appeared on its body, and then a bolt of lightning shot out from Magnemite, directly striking Kanna's head.
Kanna took the lightning bolt without any resistance, very easily. "Hmm, the power is roughly equivalent to a small dessert. For being just born, this power is quite decent."
After taking a hit, Kanna spoke.
???
The Doctor beside her was a bit bewildered. Power like a small dessert? What kind of measurement unit was that?
"Kanna means it can instantly incapacitate an unsuspecting ordinary person. Considering it's lightning, once unleashed at that speed, it's impossible to dodge. This effect is indeed quite terrifying," Amiya, having recovered, explained Kanna's peculiar Kanna-speak to the Doctor.
The Doctor nodded after hearing this. "That's quite impressive. Kanna, how do we ensure that this... Magnemite... that's its name, right? How do we ensure that the Magnemite produced here will obey our commands and not those of an enemy?"
For a commander, the first thing the Doctor considered after confirming that this Pokémon possessed some fighting capability was the issue of command.
Kanna pointed to the poké ball placed nearby. "Two methods."
"One is 'love grows over time'... Peh, I mean 'Bond.' That is, if you spend a long time with this Magnemite and cultivate enough understanding, it will recognize you as its commander, and it will obey you regardless of the situation."
"The second is using the poké ball that comes with each Magnemite. The person who possesses the corresponding poké ball can command that specific Magnemite."
"The command logic for all normal Pokémon operates on three levels. The first is the commander they recognize."
"The second is familiar people and feeders. If the commander is absent or unable to issue commands, the Pokémon will also choose to obey the orders of these individuals."
"Finally, there is the owner of the poké ball. If neither of the first two conditions is met, they will choose to obey the commands of the poké ball owner."
"Do these Pokémon possess sufficient intelligence?" The Doctor pondered carefully after hearing this, having generally grasped the logic of Pokémon command acceptance.
"Normal Pokémon possess an intelligence level roughly equivalent to a human aged 8 to 16. After a Pokémon evolves, its intelligence will not be lower than that of an average adult human. Furthermore, since commands are given via language, you can regard them as intelligent life forms that cannot speak. Of course, most Pokémon, like Magnemite, are not highly aggressive, so they won't threaten the status of the Human race."
Kanna recalled the Pokémon in the anime whose intelligence was basically on par with humans, and she spoke with an uncertain tone.
After hearing this, the Doctor was not surprised but delighted. After all, compared to completely low-intelligence animals, creatures with intelligence capable of independent thought are much more favored by a Strategist like him.
"Then how much electricity is required to produce each one?" The Doctor had already decided to incorporate Magnemite into Rhodes Island's combat system, so he began to worry about Magnemite's production capacity.
"If you provide about 100 kilowatt-hours of electricity to this room every day, one Magnemite will definitely be born. However, Magnemite itself feeds on electricity, so you should balance the quantity with Rhodes Island's power supply."
After hearing the Doctor's words, Kanna knew that this facility was essentially handed over.
"Kanna, don't leave yet. This matter is too significant. I think we still need to discuss it with Doctor Kaltsit..." Seeing Kanna preparing to slip away after dumping the facility on the Doctor, Amiya reached out and grabbed her dragon horn... "Ouch! My Amiya, this thing is fixed here permanently, I can't change it.
Anyway, the thing can't run away from here. If you think it's useful, just input some electricity every day. If you don't want to expand, just seal the room and stop powering it —isn't that the end of it? I need to go prepare my gear for tomorrow's field mission. You wouldn't want me to forget things during a mission, would you!"
Kanna wasn't afraid of Kaltsit (absolutely not!), she just felt that the rice was already cooked. Even if Kanna or Amiya wanted to regret it, it was too late. Kanna couldn't stuff this production base back into the system.
Amiya was fooled by Kanna and released her hand, only to see Kanna vanish right in front of her with a "swoosh."
Right after Kanna dumped the Magnemite Production Base and became a hands-off manager, Amiya took full charge. After a brief discussion with the Doctor, she decided to first assign a trusted Elite Operator to guard the location, and once the individual from Iberia arrived, he would lead these Magnemite as their chief.
