Song Jie also noticed something abnormal in the forest and immediately mounted the back of the Seven-Colored Cloud Finch.
Very quickly—
The Seven-Colored Cloud Finch soared into the sky. When they looked down at the forest below, both of them frowned deeply.
Right beneath them was a dense, pitch-black tide of Bloodthirsty Ants, surging like a living sea.
Song Jie asked in confusion, "Where are they going? Did our people find the Ant Queen and draw them back to defend it?"
Xu Chu's brows were tightly knitted. He shook his head inwardly. That was highly unlikely.
The Ant Queen had been hidden in Jinshan for far too long. There was no way it could be discovered in a single day.
"Song Jie, take out the map," Xu Chu said urgently.
Song Jie nodded and immediately unfolded the map. The two of them carefully traced the direction of the ant swarm.
"They're heading toward You City!" Xu Chu's expression darkened the moment he spoke.
"To You City?" Song Jie paused, then frowned. "Why would they suddenly attack You City?"
Xu Chu said gravely, "The Ant Queen has probably already realized we're searching for it."
"So it's using the Bloodthirsty Ants to divert our attention," Song Jie concluded.
Xu Chu nodded, his expression extremely solemn.
If such a massive swarm reached You City, which had no defensive preparations, it would very likely become the next Bo City.
"Song Jie, I have a very important task for you," Xu Chu said seriously.
Song Jie met Xu Chu's gaze and already guessed what was coming.
"Do you have a flying Summoned Beast?"
"Yes."
"What level?"
"Warrior-Level."
"Good." Xu Chu nodded. "I need you to go warn You City."
He continued, "At the ants' speed, they'll reach You City in about two days. But with your Warrior-Level flying Summoned Beast, you can get there in one day."
Xu Chu still needed to deliver the silver-white flower, which would take him at least a day and a half, not to mention regrouping with his captain afterward.
Having Song Jie notify You City was the fastest option.
In a situation like this, every second mattered.
"I understand," Song Jie said heavily.
"This is my Seven-Star Hunter Master badge." Xu Chu took out his exclusive hunter credential. "Bring this with you. Otherwise, they may not believe you."
"Alright."
With that, the two of them parted ways.
Song Jie had originally planned to apply to join the Ant Queen search team after acquiring the silver-white flower, hunting Bloodthirsty Ants along the way.
But right now, there was something far more important to do.
Song Jie flew directly above the ant swarm and completed his Star Path without hesitation!
Radiance after radiance—each strengthened to sixth tier—blasted downward, instantly pulverizing large swathes of Bloodthirsty Ants!
Soon after, Song Jie left the ant swarm behind and headed straight toward You City.
As the Wind Riding Sky Eagle flew low, Song Jie suddenly heard someone calling out from behind.
He stopped the eagle and turned to look down.
A graceful figure was limping toward him, clutching a nearly withered silver-white flower.
"Song Jie!"
"Song Jie!!"
It was Mu Tingying.
Her clothes were torn and filthy, and a faint stench clung to her body.
She had been hiding on the mountain, waiting for rescue from the academy or the military.
But days had passed—and no one came.
Just moments ago, she spotted the Wind Riding Sky Eagle and immediately rushed over.
She would have been rescued eventually if she kept hiding, but seeing Song Jie felt like grabbing onto a lifeline.
There was no way she would let this chance slip away.
Song Jie frowned slightly when he saw her, hesitating.
When he first read the original novel, Mu Tingying was one of the characters he disliked the most.
She was not a good woman.
An idea suddenly surfaced in his mind.
"I can save you," Song Jie said calmly, "but I have conditions."
At this point, Mu Tingying had no choice.
"Fine. As long as you take me out of here," she agreed immediately.
"Get on first," Song Jie said. He didn't want to waste time. They could talk slowly once they were in the air.
Mu Tingying climbed onto the Wind Riding Sky Eagle and immediately noticed the Bloodthirsty Ants in the distance.
Her already dim eyes widened in shock.
"So many… Bloodthirsty Ants…"
"Forget them," Song Jie said coldly. "Let's talk about my conditions."
"Go on."
Her attitude was noticeably more restrained now.
"One Galaxy Vein."
The moment Song Jie said it, Mu Tingying's expression changed dramatically.
A Galaxy Vein was an auxiliary treasure that allowed Intermediate Mages to break through to Advanced Level with a much higher success rate.
"Song Jie, that's too much," Mu Tingying said through clenched teeth. "A Galaxy Vein is worth hundreds of millions!"
"It's not something I can decide on my own."
"Then two," Song Jie replied indifferently.
Mu Tingying's anger exploded.
This was outright extortion.
"Agree or not?" Song Jie said coldly. "If not, you can go back down and keep the Bloodthirsty Ants company."
He was certain she would agree.
How could a treasure be worth more than her life?
"Deal!"
Mu Tingying finally nodded, grinding her teeth. Whether she actually paid later was another matter entirely.
"Good."
Song Jie took out a phone—there was no SIM card inside.
Mu Tingying's heart sank the moment she saw it.
"I'm recording this," Song Jie said calmly. "If you try to back out later, I'll have proof."
Mu Tingying cursed him inwardly. She hadn't expected this move.
"Take off your top," Song Jie said coldly, raising the phone.
"What? Why should I take it off?!" Mu Tingying snapped.
Song Jie stared at her with a cruel glint in his eyes. "Say one more word, and I'll make you take off everything. Do you believe me?"
Mu Tingying's back teeth nearly shattered from how hard she clenched them.
But under someone else's roof, she had no choice but to bow her head.
She reluctantly removed her top, revealing her pale skin and the pink garment beneath.
"So small," Song Jie said with faint disdain. "Why bother covering it so tightly?"
Mu Tingying clenched her fists, humiliation and anger burning in her chest.
But she endured it.
"First of all," Song Jie said calmly, "this is voluntary. I didn't force you, right?"
"I… it's voluntary…"
"Good." Song Jie lowered the phone slightly. "Put your hand down. I'm starting."
