Chapter 108 - Chapter 107: Arriving in Oil City, “You Can Sleep with Me!”

After Song Jie had Mu Tingying confirm the recording, he tucked his phone away with a satisfied smile.

"I'm a reasonable person," he said. "Bring me two-Galaxy Veins — or the money for them — and nobody else will ever know about this."

The recording wasn't indecent, so in his mind there was nothing shameful about it. Compared to bikini-clad beach beauties, this was practically nothing.

Still, Mu Tingying was the eldest daughter of the Mu Family. If something like this leaked, she wouldn't be able to face anyone. Song Jie knew that and was exploiting her identity.

Mu Tingying swallowed her pride, put her top back on, and asked, "Why are we flying in the same direction as the Bloodthirsty Ants?"

"The Bloodthirsty Ants army is heading for You City — Oil City. We need to warn them," Song Jie replied.

"What?!" Mu Tingying cried. So many Bloodthirsty Ants attacking You City — a third-tier city — how could they possibly defend it?

"If we go to You City, we'll be walking straight into death!" she protested. "We have to turn back. We can't go there."

Song Jie looked at her coolly. He knew people were selfish; this reaction was normal.

"You just got on the summon and you're already contradicting me?" he snapped.

"I—" Mu Tingying faltered. Before she could say more, a sharp sting shot through her buttocks.

"Ah!"

She whirled and demanded, "What are you doing?!"

"That's a small punishment," Song Jie said. "If you keep talking back, I might throw you off."

Mu Tingying's eyes filled with tears and she immediately clamped her mouth shut. She dared not argue. If she contradicted him again, maybe he really would throw her out.

When she kept quiet, he slapped her ass again.

"Ah!"

She spun toward him in fury. "I didn't say anything just now!"

"You didn't say anything, but I wanted to hit you. Is that not allowed?" Song Jie replied, acting self-righteous.

"You—" Mu Tingying wanted to cry, but the wind was too strong; the tears were whisked away. At dawn, they landed outside You City.

A defending military mage on the city wall shouted down, "Please come down! Summoned beasts are not allowed to fly within the city!"

Song Jie descended slowly and approached him. "Officer, I need to speak to your highest-ranking commander. This is urgent."

"You want to see our Military Commander? I—" The soldier started, but Song Jie produced the badge Xu Chu had given him.

"This is… a Seven-Star Hunter Master's badge!" the soldier exclaimed. He had seen Hunter Master badges before.

"Is that sufficient?" Song Jie asked.

The soldier immediately bowed. "I apologize. I'll report this to my superior at once."

"Hurry. Demons are about to invade You City," Song Jie said.

"Demons?" The soldier's heart tightened. Had Song Jie said that earlier, things might have moved faster.

"I'll go right away!" he said, and rushed to find his superior.

A short while later Song Jie was led to the Military Commander's office.

Mu Tingying tried to follow but Song Jie told her to wait outside. She clutched his hand and refused to be left behind — if her family arrived sooner, she wouldn't have had to depend on Song Jie at all. Still, she followed when he let go.

Inside the office, the female Military Supervisor rose at once. "You said demons are invading?"

"Yes." Song Jie nodded and explained about the Bloodthirsty Ants.

"Bloodthirsty Ants? How could they be in Jinshan?" the Supervisor snapped, shocked.

"They should reach You City around tomorrow night," Song Jie said plainly.

The Supervisor's face darkened. "You said General Ling already sent the Hunter King to kill the Ant Queen. When was that?"

"Three days ago."

"Three days?" The Supervisor fell silent. Three days wasn't long enough to guarantee the Ant Queen's death. They would have to rely on themselves.

"You've done well. I'll have someone take you to rest," she said, standing straighter. Once Song Jie left the office, she immediately called a meeting.

An officer escorted them to a resting room. Song Jie nodded gratefully; he had been traveling all day and his Summoning Element energy was nearly spent.

Mu Tingying frowned. "Why is there only one room?"

"We only have one left," the officer said apologetically.

"That's fine — you can leave," Song Jie said with a smile.

Slap!

When the officer left, Mu Tingying's face crumpled and she whimpered, "You hit me again…"

Song Jie waved it off. "It's good they prepared a place for us. Don't be so picky."

He went into the room first. "If you're not coming in, I'm closing the door."

Mu Tingying gritted her teeth. How could he be so ungentlemanly? He had even complained about her chest being small.

Still, she was exhausted; she hadn't properly rested in days and couldn't bear sleeping outside. Defeated, she entered. The door banged shut behind her.

She walked toward the bed, but Song Jie was already lying on it. "I'm taking the bed. You can sleep on the sofa."

Mu Tingying's fists clenched. Her small chest heaved with indignation. "How can you be like this!"

Song Jie shrugged. "You could sleep with me, but you smell terrible right now. Better not to get the sheets dirty."

Furious at the insult to her smell, Mu Tingying glared and took a step forward. You despise my smell, do you? I'll reek you to death!
