Chapter 115 - Chapter 114: Kill Some Time, Wait Till I Come Back to Find You!

During this time, Mu Nujiao had already become a new student at Pearl Institute's Qing Campus.

And that well-endowed girl in her dorm was none other than her lively roommate — Ai Tutu.

Hearing Ai Tutu's question, Mu Nujiao quickly turned her face away, her cheeks slightly flushed.

"Maybe it's just too hot…" she said softly.

"Hot? But we've got the air conditioning on," Ai Tutu mumbled, puzzled.

Mu Nujiao picked up her phone, avoiding eye contact, and replied to Song Jie's message.

[Mu Nujiao: Who asked you to be responsible…]

[Song Jie: Since I did it, I'll definitely take responsibility. Wait for me to return, I'll come find you then.]

A faint warmth rose in Mu Nujiao's chest as she read his reply.

At least… Song Jie had her in his heart.

From their first meeting, to the times he had saved her, and their growing familiarity afterward — those memories surfaced vividly in her mind.

When she heard that Song Jie might not survive, that fear made her realize something.

It wasn't just worry.

It was love.

After all, Song Jie wasn't only remarkably talented — his strength also stood unmatched among their peers.

Such an outstanding man — who wouldn't be drawn to him?

Even though she'd devoted herself to cultivation, ever since that night when he kissed her, her heart had quietly opened.

Realizing she was getting lost in her thoughts, Mu Nujiao quickly dismissed them and typed another reply.

[Mu Nujiao: I'm going to cultivate first…]

[Song Jie: Cultivate well, and try to surpass Mu Lei as soon as possible!]

Somewhere, Mu Lei sneezed. "That stings, old friend!"

Song Jie set his phone down, stretched, and stepped outside.

The reinforcements for You City (Oil City) had already arrived, and residents were beginning to return.

Not far away, he noticed Mu Tingying talking with another member of the Mu Family.

When she saw Song Jie, she snorted twice, glaring at him coldly.

Song Jie narrowed his eyes, staring right back. If that powerful mage beside her weren't there, he might have gone over and spanked her again without hesitation.

Fortunately for Mu Tingying, she didn't provoke him further and soon left with her companion.

Song Jie walked over to the Military Supervisor and asked when the transportation in You City would be fully restored.

"It'll take a few more days," she said, busy with her duties.

Just as Song Jie was about to leave, she suddenly called out, "Oh, right — the High Commander asked me to tell you something."

"What is it?"

"He said you made a great contribution this time, and the military will reward you."

"What kind of reward?"

She shrugged slightly. "He didn't say, but since the High Commander himself mentioned it, it must be something extraordinary."

"When will it be ready?"

"There's no specific time. He'll notify you when it's prepared."

"..."

Song Jie fell silent, full of curiosity.

If it were a Soul Seed or a magic tool, it wouldn't take long to prepare — as long as there was enough money.

The fact that Ling Tiancheng didn't specify a time meant even he might not know what the reward would be.

"What could it be?" Song Jie thought, anticipation building in his chest.

He then asked, "Has the Ant Queen been dealt with?"

"It's been killed. The Bloodthirsty Ant army has been completely eradicated," she replied.

Song Jie nodded.

Next to Jinshan was the Imperial Capital — the first city of Huaxia. With such strength nearby, as long as they found the Ant Queen, resolving the threat was inevitable.

That was no longer his concern.

"Then I'll stay a few more days before leaving," he said.

"Go ahead," the Military Supervisor smiled. "You City still has many fun places to explore. If I weren't so busy, I'd show you around myself."

"Then you carry on. I'll head back," Song Jie said, waving as he turned away.

Modu, Pearl Institute

That evening, Mu Nujiao and Ai Tutu were out having dinner together.

"Sister Mu, have you heard? They're holding a Beast Fighting Competition this year too!" Ai Tutu said excitedly.

"I've heard."

Mu Nujiao had even gone to watch the competition once before.

"I heard from some Seniors that last year, a Summoning Element student single-handedly defeated over two hundred and fifty new students! Isn't that insane? If it were me, I'd be eliminated in the first round!"

Mu Nujiao couldn't help but smile faintly.

"That guy's name was Song Jie, right? Sister Mu, do you know him?" Ai Tutu turned to look at her curiously.

Mu Nujiao opened her mouth, but Ai Tutu immediately waved her hands. "Oh, I'm being silly — you're a new student too, how would you know him?"

Mu Nujiao chuckled softly, saying nothing.

A few hundred meters from Pearl Institute was a lively street filled with bright lights and bustling restaurants. They picked one with good reviews and ordered dinner.

"Ugh, I still have to endure this semester before I can move out. It's so boring," Ai Tutu groaned, resting her chest on the table to relieve the weight.

New students were required to live on campus during their first semester, leaving little chance to explore the city.

"If you focus on cultivation, the time will pass quickly," Mu Nujiao said gently.

"Cultivation is too boring. I can't stay focused for more than half an hour," Ai Tutu sighed dramatically.

After finishing dinner, the two walked back toward Qing Campus.

When they arrived at the entrance, Ai Tutu asked, "Sister Mu, aren't you coming back with me?"

"I have something to take care of. You go ahead," Mu Nujiao replied.

"Alright then," Ai Tutu said with a grin, waving as she walked off.

Meanwhile, in Dean Xiao's office at Pearl Institute—

Song Jie sat across from the Dean, sipping tea.

"Dean, did you need something from me?" Song Jie asked. He was actually planning to meet Mu Nujiao later, but Dean Xiao had called him in first.

"Your Light Element should have reached the third level by now, correct?" Dean Xiao said calmly.

Song Jie nodded.

"Have you noticed any changes in your spells?"

Song Jie immediately understood — the Dean must have heard some rumors.

After all, he had displayed his power openly during the You City battle.

He nodded slightly. "When my Light Element advanced to the third level, the power of my spells could already rival the Advanced Level."

He didn't go into detail — some things were better kept secret.

"Mid-level rivaling Advanced Level," Dean Xiao mused, "that aligns with the characteristics of your Mutated Talent."

Before, Song Jie's basic-level spells could rival mid-level ones. Now, his mid-level spells rivaled advanced-level magic — a natural progression of his mutation.

"Oh, by the way," Dean Xiao continued, "did you use the Warrior Soul I gave you on your Summoned Beast?"

"Yes," Song Jie replied.

Dean Xiao nodded thoughtfully. That would make the situation easier to explain to the higher-ups. Mutated Talents were rare — perhaps unprecedented — and Song Jie's growth was rewriting expectations.

After chatting for a while, Song Jie left the office.

As he descended the stairs, he noticed a familiar, graceful figure waiting quietly outside the door…
