Chapter 177 - Chapter 176: The House Was Stolen

Song Jie paused for a moment, a knowing expression flickering in his eyes.

According to the original sequence of events, wasn't it about time for the Totem Black Snake to appear?

"What is it?" he asked, feigning ignorance despite already having a good idea.

"I've run into a rather tricky situation, and I'll need your help," Tang Yue said straightforwardly.

"A tricky situation, huh? Sounds dangerous. If it's about pledging myself to you, I can reluctantly consider it," Song Jie said, half-joking.

"Pledge yourself to me? You wish!" Tang Yue rolled her eyes at him.

"Sister Yue, I can tell from your expression—this definitely isn't good news."

Tang Yue stood up, her voice firm. "So, are you going to help me or not?"

"Sister Yue has helped me so much already. If you're in trouble, of course I'll help!" Song Jie replied seriously.

Tang Yue nodded, clearly satisfied. "At least you still have some conscience."

Right now, Song Jie was the only one she could count on—both his strength and his identity made him the perfect choice.

"So, Sister Yue, what exactly do you want me to do?" he asked.

"I can't tell you yet. I'll take you there personally when the time comes."

Tang Yue still hadn't received any definite news, but if she learned that those people were targeting the Totem Black Snake, she would absolutely not allow it to happen.

Take me there?

Song Jie could only imagine one thing—Tang Yue bringing him to the lake to meet the Totem Black Snake in person.

"I heard Mo Fan's back too?" Tang Yue asked. It was information she had received from Zhan Kong.

"He is," Song Jie replied. "He's probably with his sister right now."

Tang Yue nodded. "There's another assignment for your Little Black. Go to the Judgment Association tomorrow."

"Got it."

"I have other matters to attend to, so I won't be there," she said as she stood up to leave. Her mind was completely occupied by the Totem Black Snake issue.

Seeing her expression, Song Jie said with a confident smile, "Don't worry, Sister Yue. If anything happens, I'll be your strongest support!"

Hearing that, Tang Yue's expression softened slightly. She gave him a small smile and left the room.

Sometimes, Song Jie could actually be quite dependable.

After she left, Song Jie leaned back, thinking about how to deal with the events that were soon to unfold.

Zhejiang Academy

As soon as Mo Fan arrived at the academy, he immediately reached out to Ye Xin Xia.

After learning that she was in the library, he rushed over without hesitation.

When he entered, three girls were walking his way—Ye Xin Xia was among them.

"Xin Xia!!" Mo Fan called out, waving and heading toward her.

Jing Jing, one of her friends, gave him a curious look. "Xin Xia, don't tell me this one's also your boyfriend?"

Ye Xin Xia's face turned red as she quickly waved her hands. "He's my brother."

"Oh, your brother? For a moment there, I thought our Xin Xia was a little playgirl!" Jing Jing teased.

"No way…" Xin Xia said shyly, lowering her head.

"Oh ho, she's blushing now! And you still claim you've got nothing going on with that handsome guy from before? Tsk, tsk, tsk…" Jing Jing continued to tease.

Mo Fan, who had just arrived, overheard them and frowned. "What handsome guy?"

"Xin Xia's boyfriend," Jing Jing said mischievously. Then, noticing Mo Fan's expression, she immediately changed her tone.

"But seriously, as her brother, you should be visiting her more often! She's been living alone here all this time—it's not right to leave her like that!"

Mo Fan stood there awkwardly, speechless as Jing Jing scolded him.

Ye Xin Xia, however, was just smiling happily to see her brother back safe and sound.

At the same time, she remembered what Song Jie had told her before—and realized he hadn't lied.

"Alright then, since you're her brother, we'll leave Xin Xia to you," Jing Jing said as she waved goodbye and left with the other girls.

Once they were gone, Mo Fan turned to Xin Xia, his expression uneasy.

"Xin Xia, you… have a boyfriend?" he asked, his heart sinking a little.

"N-no! They misunderstood…" Xin Xia said quickly, blushing even harder.

Mo Fan's chest tightened. Her reaction—it looked like she was hiding something!

"Xin Xia, tell me, who is it?" he pressed.

"Brother Mo Fan, they really misunderstood," Xin Xia said softly, her voice shy and nervous.

"Ahhh!" Mo Fan groaned, stomping his foot. Her reaction definitely means she likes someone!

Who was it?!

Who dared to replace him while he was gone?!

He had only been away for a short time—and his home had already been stolen?!

"Brother Mo Fan," Xin Xia finally whispered, "actually, Song Jie came to see me that day, so they misunderstood…"

Tears of heartbreak practically welled up in Mo Fan's eyes.

Brother Jie!

It was actually Brother Jie!!

The Next Morning

As soon as Song Jie woke up, several system notifications echoed in his mind.

Ding! Congratulations, host! "Light Protection – Wall Cutting" has evolved into "Light Protection – Wall Shuttling"!

The last bit of sleepiness vanished instantly as Song Jie sat up in shock.

This new skill was comparable to a Space Element ability—it allowed him to move through space!

There was a condition, though: he could only shuttle within his Painting Wall.

If he left its range, the spatial effect wouldn't work.

Still, the Painting Wall was already incredibly sturdy and could remain active for quite some time.

As long as his opponent couldn't break through it, Song Jie could move through it freely—and as many times as he wanted.

The more he thought about it, the more interesting it became.

He could use it for tactical retreats, surprise attacks, or even as a way to teleport spells across the battlefield!

There were so many possibilities—he couldn't wait to test them all.

Instead of going straight to the Judgment Association that morning, Song Jie first visited the Hunter Union.

He had a Commander-level Essence Orb to sell.

Such orbs were rare treasures—practically priceless.

After the transaction, Song Jie arranged for the orb to be auctioned.

He knew that through an auction, it would fetch a much higher price than a direct sale.

Once that was handled, he headed to the Judgment Association, where Leng Qing was already waiting for him.

"You're here?" she said, greeting him as she poured him a glass of water.

"Hello, Sister," Song Jie greeted politely, taking a seat beside her.

Leng Qing nodded gently. "Tang Yue has something urgent to handle, so I'll be conducting the interrogation with you today."

"Understood," Song Jie replied.

Taking a sip of water, he asked curiously, "Sister Yue has seemed distracted lately. Has something happened?"

Leng Qing hesitated briefly, then said, "She's indeed dealing with something troublesome. But if she hasn't told you herself, it's not my place to say."

Song Jie nodded, not pressing the matter further.

"Then let's begin."

A moment later, Song Jie summoned his work partner—Little Black, the cat.

Leng Qing smiled. "Our Chief Judge said that when this little one reaches Commander-level, the Judgment Association will fully cover the advancement materials."

The moment Little Black heard that, it perked up instantly—its fur bristling with excitement.

Commander-level?!

It was suddenly more motivated than ever!
